“In a restaurant world dressed up with disingenuous marketing JOEY Yorkdale offers you a magnificent spot outside downtown Toronto that delivers what it promises on their home page, “Our guests, new or old, are not treated just as guests, but as if they are a good friend we are catching up with.” And this was the experience for me and my two close chums who selected this spot primarily because it was the midpoint between our diverse locations. From first arriving, the hostess took the time to offer a complimentary champagne glass and inquire if our visit that day was for a special occasion. It was a reunion and she graciously followed up with pleasant comments establishing a charming mood. When the waitress came to greet us, she also took the time to find out more about the nature of our reunion and only then flawlessly delved into the menu. I understand this is common practice at luxury restaurants; however, I would contend that, although there are dining establishments that treat patrons similarly, it is not simply about what you do but, rather, how well you do it. And this is the reason I am taking the time to write this review: JOEY does it very well. Having frequented several luxury restaurants in downtown Toronto I can anecdotally share with you that there have been far too many occasions when the host and/or server left a poor impression. Whether it is conceited complacency in their brand or even our own bigotry of unrealistic expectations, there seldom is a meeting point of both food, service, and overall impression. The treatment at JOEY was so genuine that it left an indelible impression. Each interaction with the server and hostess throughout complemented our dining experience. We were then surprised with dessert on the house presented on an expansive serving plate with the words “Happy Reunion!” written in caramel. Delicious, delicious caramel. Mmmm, but I digress… Over the years I have written to restaurants far more complaints than compliments and, in retrospect, this is unfair. It takes a team and a culture to create this magic and it can be quite challenging to get it right. When it comes together as well as it did on our visit, it is the sort of joy that can accompany you throughout your day. At JOEY they seem to have captured the right formula and I look forward to returning and catching up with “good friends” that understand that going out to eat today is about so much more.”

“Great food and service. I got the combo for 1. Spicy tan ramen. At first when I saw the broth it looked really plain and I was hesitant but when I actually had a sip it was rich and creamy. Definitely recommend :)”

“We had the sauerkraut fish, chicken wings, fried rice, potato salad, and cucumber salad. The fish, chicken wings, and fried rice were all really good, and the service was excellent. The only downside was that both salads were a little too oily for our liking. Other than that, everything was great, and we really enjoyed our meal.”

“On September 21, 2025 my husband and i hosted a party for our 85-year-old friend. We were greeted with Happy Birthday Greetings. Our waters were never empty. Our food came on time, was delicious and hot. and all 8 of us enjoyed every chopstick full of such tasty food. Thank you to the staff that took care of every want, even a dish of ice cream dolled up for the birthday girl. Very nice treat. Thank you. Every time the service has been exceptional and caring a bit more today made it memorable for everyone Thank you.”

“The restaurant, service and food at this restaurant was good. However the only downside is that the customers are literally asked to pay a tip. During this difficult period of the pandemic, it is hard to leave a tip. It should be optional but if you do not tip, you are sort of asked "why no tip". This becomes odd and the customer should be given the discretion to tip. This is the reason, I am giving 4 stars to this restaurant.”

Had the pleasure of being served by Orla who was a delight and Management Kate who had time to sit and have a quick chat with us. Definitely a staple for me for good Lebanese food I’ve tried almost everything by now and never been disappointed. You would think for it to be a restaurant in a mall you would get “mall food court quality “ food but this is far beyond in every aspect.”

“You need to come here for Korean Fried Chicken. The chicken is saucy, flavourful, juicy, and above all, crispy. I find a lot of spots fail to hit the crispy mark after being drenched in sauce but here, they really hit the mark!

We also ordered the Rose Rice Cakes and Fish Cake Soup. That rice cake is SPICY but some of the best I’ve ever had. It’s sweet, savoury, and cheesy. The fish cake soup is a classic comforting dish.”

“Absolutely my new fav for Thai food takeout. Absolutely delicious and flavourful. The one thing we keep saying when we took it home and opened is how GOOD it smells. All the ingredients veggies they put in really gives you deep flavour profiles, you can tell they put a lot efforts to make the dish.

I would say it wins MANY Toronto popular Thai places like PAI. Price is much better and food is much more flavour. The crispy pork was AMAZING.

It’s not really a dine-in location but you certainly can eat at their cute booth. The staff/chefs are super friendly and nice, gives you a street food style but certainly has space to sit in the winter if you wanna grab a quick bite.

I would definitely come back and try different stuffs! So good.

“Honestly wasn’t expecting much when coming in. They seated us in the section that had majority tablets; Genius idea. The service was fast and efficient. Everything you need is right there at the table or can be answered by the tablet. The table has compartments where you can find utensils, napkins, etc. The food was reasonably priced, generous portions, and tasted good. If there’s anything you need you can look to the tablet to help you. There’s an option to call a server and has options for your inquiry.

“I ordered Combo C and gimbap after reading the reviews, and honestly, the Jjambbong broth has got to be the best in Toronto. It’s a real hidden gem. The Jjambbong was so good that we started with soju and ended up mixing Somaek and having a blast.
​Funny thing is, we bought Jjajangmyeon, gimbap, and sweet & sour pork for our 3-year-old son, but he just kept eating that spicy Jjambbong instead lol. Even though it's a well k own gimbap spot, you can definitely taste authentic Chinese-Korean restaurant quality!”

Utterly disappointed to find out that although they have a ramp, the only accessible dining areas are if you're with one of the large groups. Meaning that as an individual with accessibility needs, I was excluded from dining at this restaurant. My accessibility needs are temporary, however you can guarantee I won't be dining at this restaurant even when I'm able to walk again, until they rectify this situation. Inexcusable to exclude people with mobility needs in this day and age.”

The steaks were especially great, they were cooked perfectly and were flavorful. The service was amazing as well, our waiter, Efi, was so attentive and friendly! Someone at our table had a nut allergy and he made sure to inform us when something we wanted to order had nuts and was able to adjust the dish so everyone could enjoy safely. Our water’s were always refilled quickly and service was overall quick. We really enjoyed our meal there and would 100% recommend.”

“An elite experience from start to finish.

Harry, our server, was amazing. He was attentive without being overbearing and kept checking in throughout our meal to make sure everything was perfect. The chef also personally brought out our appetizers and mains, which made the experience feel especially thoughtful and elevated.

And the burger… top tier. The melted cheese and toppings make it incredibly rich and satisfying, while the meat itself tastes genuinely high quality. It doesn’t have that overly fatty taste that some burgers can have — just a really well-balanced, delicious burger. I also asked for it to be cut in half.

We were also invited to check out the 4th floor, which has an outdoor patio with an amazing CN Tower view. Such a nice touch and definitely something I’ll be checking out on my next visit.

Between the food, service, and overall experience, RH really delivered. I’ll definitely be returning.”

We didn't have reaervations and the options were a 1 hour wait to sit inside or be seated right away on the patio. We chose the patio. We were served our drinks and appetizers within 1/2 hour but our main course came about an hour after but it was worth the wait. We will definitely return🍾🎉”

“I recently stayed at the Toronto Don Valley Hotel during a busy week in Toronto. While the property is in transition, what stood out most was the people.

Ashley at Reception went above and beyond to move me to a better room, with Ryan making the change quickly when time was precious. My appreciation also goes to Grace, Oksana, Raquel, Mohammed and the Reception team; Alteha, Camile and Housekeeping; Orlando and Manny in Maintenance; and Dan, spirited Sylvia, Jordan and Kim, the Food & Beverage Manager.

A special mention to George, the Bellman, who was consistently helpful and courteous and took great care with my luggage.

Throughout my stay, I met people who genuinely wanted to help. That speaks volumes about Kevin Porter, General Manager, and the culture his team has created.

Thank you all for making my stay more comfortable and productive. I look forward to returning.

Spicy beef intestines soup, would recommend for hang over. Overall, everything was great especially the bun chun tasted exactly the way my grandma used to make it.”

The food was very delicious (nduja Romana pizza, spaghetti Pomodoro and 2 orders of kids shell pasta with butter) but the service was what really stood out.

“The self-serve items are acceptable. Especially since it's $3 per 100 grams. They also charge about $2 more for the broth.
I chose the beef bone broth with a spicy level of 1 and it was good. Next time I'll definitely try the tomato soup.
The staff was friendly but didn't speak much English.
We spent about $60 for three people and took some of the leftovers home, which was the size of a full meal.”

Tiny was absolutely phenomenal! She went above and beyond even though she didn’t have to. She came over to check on us several times, genuinely asking if we needed anything and making sure we were taken care of throughout our meal. She even helped us with a refill and made the whole experience feel so welcoming and personal.

It’s rare to come across someone who puts this much care and attention into their customers. Tiny was kind, attentive, friendly, and incredibly professional. You can tell she genuinely cares about making sure guests have a great experience.
