“It was our first time visiting this place, and my friend and I picked it completely by chance. We looked at the reviews, saw a 4.5 rating, and thought, okay, that sounds great. Even though it was late at night around 9:30 PM, the server was extremely kind and welcoming, and even let us sit on the patio.

Our food came very quickly, and the most impressive part of this restaurant was how genuinely nice and friendly the staff were. A lovely young lady named Kiin was incredibly sweet, polite, and patient. She kept checking on us with such kindness. Another young server, a guy, was just as amazing, and they both made our experience a hundred times better.

It was a rainy evening, but thanks to them we had such a wonderful time. Our sushi came fast, was very fresh, and tasted excellent. Everything was just perfect. I even asked for the young lady’s name so I could mention her here, because she truly made our night special.

Without a doubt, I’ll be going back many, many times, and I highly recommend this place if you want a great experience, if you’re craving sushi, or if you just need something to brighten up your mood. Everything was so good that if I could give 6 stars instead of 5, I absolutely would”

“In a restaurant world dressed up with disingenuous marketing JOEY Yorkdale offers you a magnificent spot outside downtown Toronto that delivers what it promises on their home page, “Our guests, new or old, are not treated just as guests, but as if they are a good friend we are catching up with.” And this was the experience for me and my two close chums who selected this spot primarily because it was the midpoint between our diverse locations. From first arriving, the hostess took the time to offer a complimentary champagne glass and inquire if our visit that day was for a special occasion. It was a reunion and she graciously followed up with pleasant comments establishing a charming mood. When the waitress came to greet us, she also took the time to find out more about the nature of our reunion and only then flawlessly delved into the menu. I understand this is common practice at luxury restaurants; however, I would contend that, although there are dining establishments that treat patrons similarly, it is not simply about what you do but, rather, how well you do it. And this is the reason I am taking the time to write this review: JOEY does it very well. Having frequented several luxury restaurants in downtown Toronto I can anecdotally share with you that there have been far too many occasions when the host and/or server left a poor impression. Whether it is conceited complacency in their brand or even our own bigotry of unrealistic expectations, there seldom is a meeting point of both food, service, and overall impression. The treatment at JOEY was so genuine that it left an indelible impression. Each interaction with the server and hostess throughout complemented our dining experience. We were then surprised with dessert on the house presented on an expansive serving plate with the words “Happy Reunion!” written in caramel. Delicious, delicious caramel. Mmmm, but I digress… Over the years I have written to restaurants far more complaints than compliments and, in retrospect, this is unfair. It takes a team and a culture to create this magic and it can be quite challenging to get it right. When it comes together as well as it did on our visit, it is the sort of joy that can accompany you throughout your day. At JOEY they seem to have captured the right formula and I look forward to returning and catching up with “good friends” that understand that going out to eat today is about so much more.”

“This is my favorite SW location in all of Toronto but for Thanksgiving it was next level!!! They had all hands on deck and the food was hot and fresh and tasty. They were really prepared for the long weekend and our server was smart and efficient with other runners helping to clear tables and bring out perfectly prepared appetizers. Thank you Shantae for your patience and professionalism while we figured out what we wanted to eat with a few plot twists. The manager also checked in with us to make sure our order had been taken. It was an impressive operation for a holiday crowd and we were so pleased we chose to eat at this Swiss Chalet rather cooking turkey and dealing with dishes. “The restaurant, service and food at this restaurant was good. However the only downside is that the customers are literally asked to pay a tip. During this difficult period of the pandemic, it is hard to leave a tip. It should be optional but if you do not tip, you are sort of asked "why no tip". This becomes odd and the customer should be given the discretion to tip. This is the reason, I am giving 4 stars to this restaurant.”

“Everytime my boyfriend and I visit, Savanna always gives us the best welcome and gives the best service! We don’t come very regularly but she always remembers us and makes sure to say hi. “One evening mid-August, after a long day of touring in the city with friends, we were starving. We debated for a long time on which A&W location we were going to go; and Avenue Road won! I wanted my friends visiting Canada to taste the famous Root beer and All day breakfast. We happily discovered that their Atlantic Cod was back on the menu for a limited time. Upon our arrival, their employee Amrita told us that their fountain was out of service and they no longer serve the “All Canadian breakfast” at this time of the day. Amrita was patient, kind, genuine; our friends had never been to an A&W before and they were overwhelmed by all the choices and very hungry. Amrita made our trip to this location so worth it that we forgot about the minor inconvenience. It gave us the chance to delight in their lemonade and apple juice; and we ordered the Atlantic Cod tacos and Atlantic Cod Burger among others things (we order so much food!). My friends loved the Atlantic so much they cannot eat another fish burger from any other competitors. ( FYI: one of my friend is not a fan of fish!!! She is now an A&W fish enthusiast lol) The best Atlantic Cod you could eat.
Thank you Amrita for making that night special for them. I have worked in hospitality for more than two decade and it is absolutely beautiful to meet someone that is genuinely passionate about her work and interaction with customers.

“Absolutely incredible experience! We had the Baghali Polo with Lamb Neck, and it was amazing, so tender and flavorful. We also tried the Koobideh Kebab, and that was just as delicious. Both dishes were cooked perfectly and full of flavor.
The portions are HUGE! After eating at the restaurant, we still had enough to take home what felt like four extra portions!
To top it all off, they welcomed us with complimentary salad, Coke, and cucumber yogurt, which was such a thoughtful and generous touch.”

“Not truly wheelchair accessible. I was very much looking forward to dining here. After reading some of the other comments in the question section, we called to confirm the extent to which they are wheelchair accessible. Utterly disappointed to find out that although they have a ramp, the only accessible dining areas are if you're with one of the large groups. Meaning that as an individual with accessibility needs, I was excluded from dining at this restaurant. My accessibility needs are temporary, however you can guarantee I won't be dining at this restaurant even when I'm able to walk again, until they rectify this situation. Inexcusable to exclude people with mobility needs in this day and age.”

Having just come back from a trip to Japan, I thought I might want to wait a little longer before eating sushi, and going to an omakase at that. Little did I know that this experience would prove me wrong so quickly. Chef Lam was so meticulous when preparing each piece and we were having a great time chatting, drinking and watching him put so much care and attention into the presentation. The fish was so fresh and buttery, personally, I loved the white fish nigiri and torched salmon the most. The sake sangria may be a little strong for some but very good nonetheless.

Street parking is limited so another option is to use the building parking around the corner - make sure to use the visitor parking.”

“A hidden gem we never knew existed! If you're craving Carribean food, this place says it all! First time ordering here after searching for a nearby place that sells oxtail and curry goat. The portion is very generous and the oxtail falls off the bone and is marinated very well. The coleslaw adds some freshness and is a nice side dish to have to cut down the rich flavour. The server was really nice and served us with a smiling face. He is very confident that their dishes are really good and that we'll love it. A Goldstar indeed! A must visit whenever in this area.”

“We tried the Sushi sample box from Torch. Combo comes with a cheese cake. Like the hand roll and is crispy , but cannot compare the taste to a regular sushi restaurant.

We ordered the duck vermicelli, it is hot and tasty. The fried dumpling taste good and it comes with a fruit drink , the 3 items $20 so price is reasonable.

Everyone seems to like the Duo Curry the most ! Crispy chicken and the curry with rice is very tasty.

It does take time for the food to come but it is because they make it to order, the prices are okay and seem to be around the same with other burger joints.

It is way better than other burger places at Yorkdale, and it is good to try! Will come back again!”

Walked in to grab a beer, it was served ice cold. Impressive service as it was fast & cold.

We took a seat to enjoy our cold beers & as we approached the end our drinks, 2 unopened crisp cold brewski’s arrived. Cracked open in front of our eyes and the bartender said, “it’s on the house.” We were ecstatic.

Oh, don’t forget the amazing music. We thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and vibes.
