“Very good Manhattan (don't know why that should be difficult). Crusty on the outside and soft on the inside bread came out immediately without asking. Clam chowder is my gauge for what to expect from a restaurant. This was one of the best; thick, clammy- baby clams in shell, alot. Another test is the fish and chips; great batter, good fish, alot. I will go back when I'm t own again just for those 2 entrees. The Beef Cheek? Ah..... no.“
“Went here for a quick dinner with a friend before going to the Theatre Guild for a play. We sat at the bar because there were only two of us and when busy parties of two don’t get tables. The bar was fine, we got great service. We had hot noodles and wontons and they were both delicious. Great place for an awesome meal, great vibes.Vegetarian options: My friend is a vegetarian and we were able to pick from several dishes.“
“Hildi did an excellent job on my brows! She is a true artist and perfectionist, taking the time to create a natural, personalized shape for my face, and then adjusting as needed during my follow up. She is also a kind and easy person to talk with during the whole experience! Highly recommend. It's been a few months since my follow up, and happy to report that brows still look great!“
“One of my favorite places to go in downtown Bellingham. A great space inside and out with frequent music and events. I attended the Arts & Ales Holiday Market and enjoyed a pint as well as a cup of mulled wine while I shopped the market. Also fueled up with one of their famous bowls, the Banh Mi bowl.“
“Service can take a minute because the bartenders are so busy but overall a great experience if you're there to play some video games. Drinks are really cool too and buying a drink gets you access to the console games free of additional charge.Kid-friendliness: Kids are only allowed until 7pm, just to keep in mind.“
“After visiting nearby Marine Life Center with my six-year-old daughter, we found a warm place to hang out in Ponderosa. Here’s our experience.1) Food: They have a food menu with happy hour deals. Stopping in on a late afternoon, we ordered the chips and salsa and the cheese platter for snacks. My daughter loved them both. I was a fan of the cheese with the cherry jam.2) Drinks: I was happy to see cider on their beer list. I ordered an Oregon cider that wasn’t too sweet.3) Service: It was impeccable. It feels like a family and every customer is treated with kindness. Even dogs are welcome!4) Space: It’s a beautiful space with a parking lot and loft seating. Outlets were near the tables so I could charge my phone as I ate.“
“The interior is nice, many tables and seating at the bar. Some TVs with sports but never a raucous sports crowd. Amazing beer selection on tap including Russian River as well as a few mixed drinks on tap and bottles to make drinks (seldom happens). I have had all of the tacos and most of the sandwiches. They are all nicely put together with good ingredients, and the pricing is the norm of expensive for these days in a place such as Bellingham. Staff are an eclectic crowd and generally very friendly, welcoming and interesting if there is a minute to chat.“
“Nice place to grab a craft cocktail and relax. I am usually there during the week and it's pretty low key and classy. I usually end up there for a manhattan anytime I am in the area. Bartender is always very attentive and willing to chat.“
“Love this place - it’s really everything I’m looking for in a bar! Chill, great music, friendly faces/conversation, and delightful food. Really can’t go wrong here! Also, BEST freakin’ popcorn I’ve ever had. Seriously. Not sure how they’ve done it, but I’ll be going out of my way just to stop in for the popcorn! ?♀️“
“Frankly I have never been here and thought it wasn’t too loud. But I think that is because I have extra large ears and they are very effective at detecting noises. I once heard a horse neigh in the middle of the night in downtown Bellingham. I know for a fact the nearest horse stables are over two miles away. Amazing.“
“I was so pleasantly surprised. We came in based on a hotel voucher (Heliotrope). The service and food exceeded expectations. I requested no carbs. My salmon came on a delicious bed of sautéed bok choy, fennel, and shiitake. The salmon was perfectly cooked. The waitress was exceptionally attentive and warm.I highly recommend.“
“We’ve taken our pup twice now and are so impressed with them. Great service, amazing outdoor area for the dogs to play and people to relax and just such a neat concept. I only wished we lived closer but we’ll definitely keep coming back! Highly recommend taking a look inside, the pet store area is great with so many healthy options for your pets. Give them a follow in social media they have all sorts of awesome events too.“
“Oh man this place is good.Seafood chowder - this was really really good. hearty, thick, salty, creamy. They didn't skimp on the stuff. Enjoyed this thoroughly.Brussell sprouts - it was so good even my fussy 2 year old ate them. The secret is they're deep fried, and glazed with a balsamic vinegar. pairs perfectly with the crispy bacon.French Dip - Why did I enjoy this so much? the beef was succulent, soft, but flavorful. the dipping sauce was a nice salty kick, the bread was chewy and crispy. The best part according to my 5 year old were the tempura green beans. It was like eating green french fries!Crab mac and cheese - eh you can give this a skip. There's a lot of crab but it doesn't go that well with the cheese as its very fishy. the mac and cheese itself was quite good though. The service was great, the waitress and hostess were kind and attentive and willing to answer questions. The restaurant atmosphere is rustic and quaint, I really think anyone who walks in will feel its charm. Definitely making another trip across the border to eat here again.“
“Happy hour at the Black Sheep on Tuesdays is buy 2 tacos get 1 free. The verdita Dude-a-Rita is my favorite drink in town. The fish taco is a crispy gluten free batter - the crunch is superb. Their chicken tinga tacos are something that everyone should try. Great place for a date night or meeting with friends.“
“Prices were high, but the quality and flavor of the food was phenomenal. Went here for my sister's birthday and we only needed to pay 15$ a bottle for a corkage fee on the wine bottles we brought. The gluten free pasta was amazing and made in house. Having been gluten free over 12 years this was some of the best pasta I've had before.A great deal overall.“
“I was looking for something close to my hotel and this was very close. Turned out to be a really good place. The bartender was friendly and helpful. My sandwich was delicious and large. Enough taps they had a beer I liked. Great service. The only downside is not a lot of parking.Parking: Not many spots. I went behind and down two buildings to a closed cafe and parked.“
“Wow this place is a gem! Such great flavors! We ordered the butter chicken, the garlic naan, and the India style hot wings for takeout.. did not disappoint. Don't forget to ask for the mint chutney, tamarind chutney and hot sauce, soooo yummy!“
“Solid carne asada, try their avocado crema on your burrito, it's fantastic! Friendly and inviting and they have awesome specials! They Actually have a taco Tuesday, wednesday they have nacho specials, Thursday is torta day, and they even have their Own potato burrito! Excellent drink selection if you want to celebrate, and when they put your order in, you get your food lightning fast! Yippee! Thank you for the delicious food it made my night so much I got another one for my friend too! YUM! ??“
“This place is fantastic. Excellent drinks in a cozy, welcoming bar. Small seating capacity - a couple cocktail tables, 5 bar seats, and a couch area with a coffee table. There is a step into here so (edited when they clarified!) for alternate wheelchair accessible entry just check in with the staff!<3“
“Absolutely love this place! We come to Bellingham a couple of times a year and this is one of our stops! We always do brunch and I love the bloody Mary but make sure you ask for the jalapeno or spicy vodka depending on what they are infusing. The shrimp and grits were delicious and the regular breakfast was well cooked with the Cajun potatoes almost being the star if it wasn't for the biscuits! Those are to die for!“
“This is a great little bar with wooden booths and nice dim lighting. I came on a Friday at dinner time for the burgers and it was crowded, but I managed to snag a booth as another party left. Their burgers are best described as greasy smash burgers on the small side. If you have an average American appetite, get two for dinner. They taste pretty good. The fries were sadly soggy though. Order at the bar and they call your name when it's done. The kitchen cranked mine out pretty fast.“
“Putt putt was fun and they had great pizzas and cocktails. The staff was very friendly and our pizza came quickly. Thanks for having the vegan cheese options for those of us that can't eat dairy!Dietary restrictions: Vegan cheese availableKid-friendliness: Kids are generally welcome but turns to adult only later in the evening.“
“What a great place to meet friends for yummy pizza on a focaccia crust that was crunchy and delicious. I stuck with water, but my friends had drinks that they enjoyed. Along with our pizza hubby and I shared a a goat mountain green salad with carrots, quinoa, candied walnuts and seasonal fruit. It was fresh and delicious. It was a great place with an upscale feel and good food!“
“Dark, old-school speakeasy ambiance, equally traditional old school drinks, local taps and some creative surprises (ask about the frozè) await you at Southside, the slightly more fun/less spartan big brother to Jack's (in downtown B-ham). Unusual snacks and sharables round out their simple menu, including a selection of tinned fishes with crackers, spicy nuts, pickle plates, and warm Brie with apples and bread. Fun and yummy, but this is not a restaurant; it's a cocktail bar, so not really a dinner option for most tastes. They get extra points for having the now-rare and much maligned cocktail onion, and even a savory cocktail (The Businessman's Lunch) that features it as a garnish. I love a good Gibson, too, and these savory cocktails with the pickled onion pair well with the fish snacks on their menu. Nicely done!Prices are high, but the excellent, exacting cocktails and upbeat, attentive service makes it a worthy splurge for a little celebration. Recommended!“
“We visited during Western’s Family Weekend and we thought we’d be waiting for a while but they are so efficient that there was barely any wait when we arrived. I had the black bean hash and it was delicious! My husband had the chicken and biscuits and he loved it too. The service was great too.“
“How do you even give a place like this a bad rating? It's exactly what you'd expect it to be. Some regulars, people visiting Bellingham, industry people and it's very "hit or miss." Regardless, it's serves its purpose. My bartender was Keeva! Keeva is amazing in her own way and I dig it!“
“Came in from Canada the food is really good taste is not the normal pub food but home cooked food the bartender/ server Hana was mazing and I thought it was super cool thebowner was actually working I would come again ? recommend if you are out this way. The shuffle board table is “
“Great bar, beer super cold and served in cold glasses. Food was bar/pub style and everything that should be hot was hot and cold food was cold. Appreciate the salad being served in chilled bowl. The shrimp cocktail for 2.75 was a great deal and cold , crisp and delicious. Stop in if you're driving by! Looking forward to stopping in again, next time we cross the border. Staff provided excellent service and we're super friendly! Nice to find a bar that serves food and gets everything right! Well done!“
“I came for the pinball but was enticed by the menu and my empty tummy to partake in the food and beer.Prices were reasonable, selection of beers was good along with a sampling of liquor. I got the beef gyro with loaded tots for a starter. My meal and beer were magnificent and I will come prepared to eat and drink next time. Also another establishment next door was playing live music which sounded good.“
“Dinner and drinks for six. We were warned at the time of ordering that there would be a wait. we ordered some tater tots, french fries and onion rings, and they were delivered almost immediately and were quite good. Packed and the bartender and weight staff did a good job taking care of us. When our food was delivered, it was better and quicker than expected. These ratings are based on overall value and this is a place that hasn’t yet got the memo that there’s been crazy inflation, so you can jack up your prices; nice to find reasonable prices.I will say the night we were there it was cold, and we all kept our coats on as it was about 10° outside and not much warmer inside!“
“I’ve been dinning in and ordering out from this restaurant for a little over 20 years. In that time the service has been very good. The staff has been friendly, efficient, dependable, even kind.Over 20+ years the food has been consistently well prepared and and plated. We know that whether it’s take out or dine in we are going to eat very well & have plenty to spare!“
“Beyond friendly staff who have always been a pleasure to deal with. Nice Tao beer selection and the nachos are kind of my go to!More than anything though, Its not trying to be anything it's not if that makes sense. I feel totally comfortable showing up after work, dirty as hell and nobody even bats an “
“Massive improvement over the old owner—old owner was a delusional bully and a weird conspiracy theorist. I like being able to enjoy a beer here without being lectured about how I’ll get cancer from a vaccine or hear why Putin was justified to invade Ukraine.(Good riddance little bully—I don’t miss you ?. Btw, TV backlights burn out if you keep them on for 40 hours a week for 5 years! It’s the same as a lightbulb, silly.)“
“The people there are always a party. The servers there are always great, as well as the food, especially if you like deep fried. The atmosphere is actually terrific! All glass back wall looking at the bay, it's fantastic! My only complaint is about the pool table, which is unwarranted because the table is open, it's always free. It needs new felt and should have the top end slid over away from the TWO columns in the way. Otherwise, great plastic tipped datt boards, I think four of them, TVs, and a jukebox turned up enough to actually enjoy. A dollar a song though?“
“One of the greatest Mom-and-pop joints i’ve ever been to!! I went with my brother around the holidays just to grab a quick bite and really surprised me with how good the food was. I got a station burger with a shake and fries and the burger is small (only a 1/6 lb patty) but packed one heck of a flavor. Their station sauce was real good and the shake was thick and topped with plentiful of whipped cream. The environment was a 70’s style truck stop and jazz music played throughout the joint. My experience was just wonderful!!! 10/10 would highly recommend.“
“Pretty good. Love the 5-7 daily happy hour ($5 drinks). Sometimes I feel terrible after I drink both the gamma ray and Cassiopeia but that's definitely my fault for ordering the two most sugary drinks (they taste so good) but they have lots of other less sugary options and the space theme of the bar is so cool. I love the blue room with the stars and black lights. I've never had a bad experience with the service and the bartenders are always nice.“
“Austin I cannot brag on enough! He is absolutely adore an amazing not only dissipate attention to his customers. But he is so attentive to everyone’s needs even if it’s just him with a bar full and a restaurant full of people is absolutely amazing. I recommend you come here as for Austin.! ?❤️“
“Update Summer 2023:We've been by several times in the late afternoon and found that they've not been open as scheduled. Might want to call first if you plan to go before 6pm.Can't believe I have waited so long to try Bellingham's best (only) tiki bar. It always seemed just a bit intimidating, with its blacked-out windows, skull lights and titular nod to The Shining.Inside, it's a different story entirely. Very kitch tiki theme, but muted lighting makes it more tasteful than garish. There are some decent food options including three sandwich options that can be veganized and a couple of vegan apps The guacamole is very creamy with a good mouth feel, though it could be more flavorful (tapatio available on request). But you're not there for the food; you're there for the drinks. And the drinks do not disappoint. So many lovely imported rums.. Lovely specials, but the tiki drinks are over the top incredible. The Coconaut is a personal favorite (though no longer do they light it as pictured). Non-alcoholic options are really good too and they of non-alcoholic beers. The staff are very welcoming and friendly and the vibe is inviting and laid back. Even when crowded, Red Rum is a mellow place to be.“
“Had the best time here! The craft cocktail list is curated with unique drinks crafted by the bartenders. The whiskey selection is outstanding and if that isn't your thing there were plenty of other liquors and even frozé and frozen daiquiris. We went in specifically to try the Doc Swinson's bourbon and loved it so much we went out and bought a bottle that night. The service from the bartenders was fantastic (thanks Chaiya and Dennis!) and sadly we're just passing through the area but if we lived in Bellingham this would be our go-to bar.“
“Food was goodBar server was fantasticShe (name started with J) (I called her Courtney?) was simply fantasticVery good at this job, took great care of us and had a few laughsBreakfast was also pretty good, Tuesday breakfast server was fantastic, Wednesday breakfast server was there...but other 2 gals made up for her lack of service with exceptional serviceCourtney aka (don't remember) had a guy helping her on TuesdayHe was also good serverRooms were perfectBeds amazingClean as a whistleCheck in on Monday night was perfect Tony lil gal with dark hair...she busted us thru the check process very quickly and gave us a complete run down of hotel and servicesLike she knew we were going on 15 hrs of work...Check out was also a positive experienceFunnySpent a week at a Sheraton in WaikikiThis place in Bellingham had better food, way better service from staff and hands down 100% nice rooms and bedsThank you all so much“
“So many great things to say! First, FOOD! Is there any way to give 20 stars??? Seriously! Had chicken fried chicken and the sausage gravy was amazing beyond belief! Most places this gravy is mediocre at best, here is amazing. Only one other restaurant I've been to is remotely close, a mom and pop place in Tacoma 12 years ago. Rest of plate was good, gravy made it a star! The wait staff is really pleasant and great to deal with, very happy with the whole experience. A bit of a downer is the homeless population, not restaurants fault yet it worth noting, talk for another day. Once inside feels like transported to a different time period. Back in the day there was a brothel upstairs, not anymore of course. Place is steeped in history and nostalgia. There's a bar on one half with a pool table at one end and old style paintings in a few places. I don't want to spoil it here, there is a story behind some of the wall paintings, just ask and they'll likely share. An extremely nice place to have breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Can order anything from menu no matter time of day, and it all looked great! This is among one of my favorite restaurants right now, I just hope the city can clean things up... Fantastic work and many thanks to the crew here!“
“We were in Bellingham for a long weekend. First time in years. Tooling around the area, shopping, junking, and Geocaching. Along around 2, we finally decided to get some lunch. I searched the gps, and picked this place. The food was very good, and so was the jalapeno/cucumber 'rita! The restaurant was clean, and clearly popular. For a mid-afternoon workday, it was pretty full. Would certainly recommend!“
“Finding good, I mean really good home-cooked style breakfast in BHAM can be challenging. Horseshoe Cafe knocks it out of the park! We tried the biscuits and gravy, and chicken fried chicken. Both were delicious, fresh, and seasoned just right! If you're familiar with waffle house, I'll add that the hash browns were that style and flavor, the way they should be! The mimosa flight and cowboy coffee were a great start to out daily adventures! Get out and support local!“
“Great food. I was pretty surprised honestly. I appreciate that when you ask for spice you get spice. It always feels like most places never make it hot. Service was decent, nothing to complain about. Drinks were good, honestly nothing super special, but tasty. I would definitely come “
“Great place to go and watch any type of sports ball. Lots of TVs, and individuals are typically engaged and hoop and hollering for their teams. Definitely recommend if you want to watch a game by yourself at the bar or at a table with your crew.Service is great, quick, and friendly. Food is surprisingly good for a sports bar. Their rice bowls are excellent. Give it a go“
“I absolutely love this sandwich shop! The sandwiches here are incredibly delicious, and the garlic bread option is definitely a win. The flavors are fantastic, and the quality of ingredients is top-notch. I highly recommend trying it out if you’re in the area!Vegetarian options: Mushroom sandwich is amazing!“
