The candle smells in the restroom area was refreshing. The food was great but as with all fine dining was not enough at the time but along with dessert, we were all full so I guess it was enough and still delicious. Apps were the grilled octopus and the scallops. Mains was the chicken and halibut.“

“On a recent Saturday night, my friends and ventured to Le Rock for dinner. I always eyeball the menu before trying a new restaurant and I was all in for the spiced duck. It was some of the best duck that I've ever had. It was so flavorful, tender, and cooked to perfection. My friends and I started off with a few cocktails and appetizers. I ordered the escargot, and my friends the barbajuans, falafel, and carrottes rapees, and of course the pommes frites. For the main course, my friends went for the halibut. The three of them were all members of the clean-plate club. I love my desserts and I love it even more when I get a little taste of everything. Luckily for me the dessert menu has Les Mignardises. I ordered for the table thinking "hmmm...maybe one of my friends will pass and I'll get more!" There's nothing more fun for me than tiers of bite-sized sweet goodness. Lots of variety to make everyone happy (macarons, cannelés, fruit gelees, opera cake etc.) If you're stuffed from dinner, this will satisfy your sweet tooth without making you loosen that belt or wish you wore a flowy dress to dinner instead of that bodycon fit.“

“TLDR: Replacing what was The Breslin is now Koloman. This is a very European restaurant. I've only been for lunch but for this level of dining, probably one of the better prefixe menus. I think the focaccia is worth it and for my selections, tartare, schnitzel and strudel.I went through a week of just eating a lot of fancy lunches solo. This day I hit up Koloman as I was curious about their prefixe for awhile.I added the warm pumpkin focaccia and yeah - that was tasty. Definitely rubbed in plenty of oil but it was nicely crispy on the outside but oh so fluffy on the inside. That butter was something else too.For the selections I started with the tartare. Typical french preparation, not too eggy or rich. Adequate acidity and very flavorful.Schnitzel. I wanted to like this a bit more but it was still good. The schnitzel coating was quite thin but maybe the way it was plated on top of each other - it kind of steamed out the coating and it just fell off. I liked the warm potato salad that accompanied it. I still am not a fan of lingonberry but I can appreciate it.Strudle. Very thin layers, tasty but maybe too much powdered sugar for my preference.Overall - I liked the food enough that Id' be back and maybe try some other things on the menu. Standout for me on this meal though? Focaccia, tartare.“

“The ambiance is very cozy, full of life. The interior is simply yet elegantly decorated, with spacious outdoor seating under a floral canopy, creating a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere—there's always a crowd waiting, perfect for dates and small gatherings with friends and family. From 4:30-6:30, it's happy hour with $10 wines and $2.5 oysters.Boulettes ProvençalesThis dish perfectly combines beef meatballs, traditional Provençal vegetable stew (ratatouille), tomato sauce, and Parmesan cheese. The meatballs are plump and juicy, the rich tomato sauce is sweet and tangy, and the Parmesan adds a creamy texture and milky flavor, making it deliciously appealing.Foie Gras de Canard & ToastsFoie Gras de Canard served with a sweet and sour apple and pear chutney. The texture is rich and smooth, complementing the fruity chutney beautifully, creating a luxurious yet delicate flavor.Jarret D'AgneauThe choice lamb shank is slow-cooked until it's incredibly tender and falls off the bone! The mashed potatoes are soft, smooth, and creamy, a perfect complement to the lamb. The Portobello sauce adds a deep woody aroma and a subtle sweetness—truly a genuine European delicacy.“

“System is what makes this place works. Everyone knows what to do and very reactive to diners’ need. The celtuse drink, soba noodles are excellent. Even the vegan latte with oatmilk made an impression. I’m only giving 4 on the food because it’s a vegan, my palette has a wider range and veggies can only go to some extent. It was a great experience.“

“This sits on the opposite side of the stunning hotel & cafe. I was brought here because the cafe was at capacity, with only reserved seats remaining waiting for guests to fill. Who knew a cafe accepts reservations - wow hate that - they should be moved to this restaurant. Anyway, I was sat in what I later was informed was the bar section of LA Marchande & was able to take my two quick biz calls here over an order of fries. I was bummed because the fries here weren't the same yummy, skinny fries from the cafe side even though they share the same kitchen! I was so excited to order fries just to be disappointed seeing they were different. The mustard sauce served on the side was interesting yet nice. Loved the ambiance and crowd. Loved the restroom decor! Picture worthy. Go, enjoy!“

“Very chill french bistro on a pretty West Village corner with open views. Overall the food was very good. We really enjoyed the country pâte, the beef tartare and the duck! Very tasty. The scallop however underneath a pile of overly salty cream was awful. Also, they charge $9 for bread. This would be a travesty in France. No French restaurant would serve pâte without including bread with that dish. Unfortunately we had to order and pay extra for some bread that wasn’t even cut. In terms of service, very friendly and attentive staff. I had a table for 2 and needed to add a third person. The manager went out of his way to accommodate our request. The main downside like other reviewers have noted, the prices are pretty high for the portion size. Very small portions, even the entrees. Hopefully they’ll figure this out and make some adjustments. I’d also recommend a good playlist, maybe some classic French in the background would make the difference here. Gainsbourg (after all, there’s a large pic of him on one of the main walls) or Francoise Hardy!“

“I DO NOT RECOMMEND. I have been going to Quatorze since the early 1990’s when Mark and Peter were on 79th St. I was thrilled when the restaurant recently moved to my corner at 82nd and 1st Ave. and have always enjoyed dining there. NEVER AGAIN. I just had the most awful in-person experience with a manager, Nino who was rude, dismissive and argumentative. And all I wanted to do was make a reservation. Nino is the complete antithesis of the way the staff at Quatorze treat customers. If this is the person who is now the face of this beloved neighborhood gem, then sadly I will not be back. And that’s a shame. I left a message asking to speak to the owner, Mark, but I guess having to speak to an actual loyal customer who is unhappy is beneath him. UPDATE: I received a call from the owner Mark, who questioned the veracity of my account. Do yourself a favor and steer clear - these are rude, arrogant people who think we’re all just dumb. And the food and service is average at best.“

“What a gem we just found! I made a reservation at Stake Frites last minute on a whim, and am so glad I did. At first we sat at a high table but the place is tight, even for NY standards, so I asked the hostess if we could sit at the bar, that was perfect. Juan, the bartender, was the best! He makes the best cocktails and was really nice. The whole staff is great! Food was good, though my husband’s steak chateaubriand wasn’t served rare as he requested. We’ll definitely be back and try other things on the menu. My only complaint would be the very tight space but I heard they may be expanding so that might change.“

Most of the dishes served felt like it was made by a robot - extremely well executed but felt one-dimensional, restraint, and absent of the joy and spark that makes you go wow.
