“After eating lunch in the food hall, we needed something to cleanse our palates, and matcha seemed like the perfect solution. We got the matcha and vanilla swirl and decided to get it in a cup instead of the cone--I can be clumsy sometimes so the cup seemed to be the safer option haha. The gentleman who took my order was very sweet and the order was ready as soon as I sat down at one of the tables nearby. I loved how the ice cream or soft serve wasn't very sweet, it was the perfect post-lunch dessert. For Waikiki, I thought the price was quite reasonable, so I'd definitely come back to try some of their other items.“
“I came here for dinner today and so glad we found this place! Loved that they offered different kinds of dish to accommodate our big family with all different taste. They had various sushi, maki rolls and variety of kitchen food. We got stuffed jalapeno, spicy kimchi udon, California for the kids and got sushi sashimi deluxe combo and few rolls for the adults.“
“This restaurant has some of highest quality beef you can find. I love this place whenever I come on island.Staff remembers you, easy to make reservations (I would call or drop in open table is never accurate on their availability). Great restaurants bio and down this building (Anaha).Definitely worth a trip“
“We were recommended this GEM of a Omakaze Sushi restaurant by a family member for my Birthday. Thank you “Chancelor”Our reservation was for 5pm and for 2 hours we were served the most creative, delectable and unique sushi. It was a total of 18 courses, which included caviar, Japanese fish, Wagyu, crab, a never-ending imagination of divine combinations. My absolute favorite dish of the evening was a Uni and trout roe dish. "It was unlike anything I've ever tasted! It was incredibly scrumptious and triumphant! Ray even makes a Rose salt and his own shoyu…The Hihimanu is truly a dining experience. I got to taste food that I would never have thought to combine, and it was all appetizing. The owner and Sushi MASA “Ray” was a true master at his craft and very personable.Service was excellent, the staff was so fast and efficient. The Hihimanu is easily THE BEST SUSHI meal of my entire life. I'd have to agree with our family member that this is the best restaurant in Hawaii for Sushi.“
“I've been to Hawaii twice, and I've eaten here 11 times. It's the best udon I've ever had. The portions are well sized and there are several options and sides. The staff is incredibly hospitable. The price is fair for the quality and amount of food. I will be coming back every time I visit this beautiful island.Parking: Paid parking is around the area, but not directly where the restaurant isWheelchair accessibility: It is wheelchair accessible, it's on the ground floor“
“The walls! The walls are alive! Love it. It works. The music is a vibe. The staff is a vibe. The hand roll I ordered was foodgasmic. If I wasn't trying to kill time for dinner at another restaurant, I could've eaten 15 of these. My apologies as I do not remember what I ordered. This was 2 months ago in January. I have a pic if you can tell what it is by looking. The drinks were so decorative and nostalgic! The white bunny candy was part of the drink. Y'all know what it is. Look at pic. Cute right?“
“A pleasant surprise! I just ordered a bunch of a la carte tempura veggies and chicken. Everything was so fresh and delicious. Even the simple pickled salad they brought out when we first sat down was perfect. Polite, friendly, quick service. I felt like I was back in Japan!“
“Authentic delicious Japanese izakaya. We waited roughly 45 minutes but it wasn't too bad since we were not super hungry. Expect to spend $40+ per person. It was so worth it though. We got the tamago, negi hama roll, negi toro roll, karaage with eggplant, miso eggplant, a random fish kama, ankimo, another dried fish snack, and the mentaiko pasta. My friend also got some skewers and said she liked them a lot. I liked everything we got and would love to revisit to try the rest of the menu.“
“This is a fabulous little sushi restaurant tucked away off the beaten path. All the rolls and poke were delicious. The staff was attentive and informative about all the wonderful options. The only downside was that it was very warm in the restaurant. Each breeze that we felt come through the door was very welcomed.Out of the 5 sushi restaurants we ate at in Honolulu, this was definitely the freshest and best we had during our visit!“
“Literally just ate here an hour ago with my buddies and this was hands down one of the best culinary experiences we’ve ever had. What we thought at first was a Michelin-style experience, eventually became what I can only describe as a hang out among friends and we loved every moment of it. To be able to drink with Master Aung made the overall experience feel all the more intimate and enjoyable. You will not be disappointed with the quality of food that Master Aung serves. It’s as fresh as it gets. My only recommendation, bring liquor for Master Aung, not beer. Although he doesn’t like beer, Master Aung still graciously drank with us ?. My buddies and I will definitely return next time we’re in Oahu. Caviar and Uni all day baby!!!!“
“This place is a gem. Make sure you come early because this place is always full. And for good reason. The Tonkatsu was out of this world, I loved the entire meal. They have definitely perfected their craft. The service was top notch and efficient. I recommend everyone to come here.“
“Neat little place! It was right by my hotel which is super convenient, the service was super friendly, and the food was delicious. I only had their matcha and taro ice cream, but they have a lot of other options on their menu like tea floats, teas, and even limited time flavors like sakura blossom ice cream. It's also right by a very cozy plaza with string lights overhead and plenty of seating. Definitely recommend it.“
“Loved it here. I wanted to eat everything ? I got the Kīlauea because it was the last one, it was huge and super yummy!!! Great place for a fast meal before we left Hawaii, grabbed some extra for the plane too! Highly recommend but check the hours, things sell out quick!“
“This place is LEGIT! 3 different types of rice to choose from: organic white, organic brown, organic ancient black fleck rice. Also LOTS of flavors. we tried the standard: Salmon, ume, authentic ume. not for the newbies. Salmon, yum! This is going on my must visit each time in Hawaii. My daughter is taking some for the flight home.“
“I had my best shushi on Oahu here.It would be the big shushiin on the menu, 8 nigiri and 2 rolls (two pieces are already missing in the photo-:). The raw fish was extremely tender and simply a delight. The rice was nice and sticky and also very tasty. From the outside it doesn't really look like a restaurant. Inside there is a room with a few tables and half of the kitchen can be seen. The impression is that it was a large living-dining room, very American, with a large television on the wall. The service was very friendly. I wanted a beer, I guess they don't have a license for that. But I was able to buy one myself from the shop around the corner and then drink it at the table, great!“
“Food was awesome and everyone is so nice and friendly. We enjoyed every minutes of it. I highly recommend this place to visit when you want good food.Parking: There are not many spots behind the restaurant but you can find some street parking.“
“I ♥️ SPAM. The place is quite small, but there are a few tables/seating inside where you can wait and eat. You can also wait outside if it gets too crowded. The menu and ordering process is pretty simple. My favorites were the basic spam musubi and the salmon seaweed onigiri. These can be a great snack on the go or even a full meal (okay, maybe you have to eat 2+). Grab a few, go to the beach, go hiking, drive around the coast, take your pick!“
“Visited Golden Pork Tonkotsu Ramen Bar recently and I've got to say, the flavors here are a real journey for the taste buds! The original tonkotsu broth was rich and deeply flavorful, offering a creamy and hearty experience that I absolutely loved. I also tried the spicy flavor broth, and while it packs a punch with its heavy spiciness, I found myself leaning more towards the original flavor for its pure, unadulterated richness. The chicken karaage, on the other hand, was a bit on the dry side for my liking. It's not a deal-breaker by any means but something for the kitchen to note.Overall, this place serves up some seriously delicious ramen with broths that are bursting with flavor. It's a solid choice for any ramen lover out there. I'm giving it a well-deserved four stars. Highly recommend trying the original tonkotsu broth if you're visiting for the first time!“
“The katsu is good. Light and not overly oily. They should serve it with the mustard dollop like in Japan and with sesame dressing for the cabbage but, other than that, a very good product. The only turnoff is the fact that they serve it in a takeout container even if you eat in.“
“Palace Saimin on King Street is a true hidden gem that transports you back in time with its old-school taste done right. This quaint spot may be small, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in flavor. The menu is super simple, featuring saimin, udon, and BBQ sticks - perfect for those who know exactly what they're craving. While seating can be a bit of a challenge depending on when you arrive, the quick and friendly service more than makes up for it. Just a heads-up, parking is limited to a few stalls in front, and whatever you do, DO NOT park at the Post Office across the street. If you're in the mood for some authentic local comfort food, Palace Saimin is the place to be!“
“Parking: Located on Waikiki Beach's main street, it's difficult to find a parking spot.I visited around 3pm and ate right away without waiting. The interior of the restaurant is small and there are few tables, so the wait may be long during lunch or dinner time. It had a clean, modern atmosphere and there were about 3 people making sushi.* If you have a local ID, there is a 10% discount! It's not necessarily recommended, but it's worth going if you're looking for a place that's reasonably tasty and has decent portions.-Sushi: It was disappointing that the rice was a bit sticky, but overall, it was all delicious and the portion was not small. Since it's Hawaii, I felt it wasn't bad for this price.-Soba (side): Because it is a side menu, the portion is small, but the price is not cheap. The cold soba had a lot of cucumber flavor and the tsuyu flavor wasn't that great, but the hot soba was still edible.-Salmon Dong: The rice was served as sushi, so it was disappointing that the rice was sticky, but the amount of salmon was just right and delicious.“
“The food is simply amazing. We ordered the nikitama udon, kake udon and the chicken katsu curry. Talk about insane flavor hitting all the right spots. We also tried the large katsu, tempura, tempura crab, croquette and tamagoyaki. Staff are very polite and attentive. The asian cashier working was very friendly and one of the most kindest i have seen in honolulu. Will definitely eat at a marugame udon again.Kid-friendliness: Udon“
“Went to Hana no Sato one night and got the Kaarage Chicken Bento which is pretty reasonably priced the Chicken was flavorful and juicy, I got it with the salad which was fresh and the dressing was tasty. they were very friendly and seems parking is not too bad as i found a parking space right out front although there is some parking in the back, hope to vist soon again.“
“Wow amazing food and amazing experience!! Couldn’t decide what to get for a quick dinner and this spot did not disappoint! Great price and wonderful service. Everything was set out perfectly and easy to access:) clean up was easy and so convenient. Thank you for a great meal,“
“Amazing Omikase experience! A friend and I did the sake pairing as well. Heavy pours and amazing quality sake. We both requested to not have any fruit sake samples so the host had other options to try, some which were made by friends back in Japan! I would recommend to any sake lover who also wants to have a great meal!“
“I went to this restaurant for the first time after being invited by an acquaintance, and since it was lunch time, it was a set meal. The place was full and there were 3 of us at the counter, and I had the grilled mackerel set meal.I'm sure $19 is expensive in Japan, but it's cheap here, and the grilling is good. It's fatty and very delicious.Next time we will visit for dinner.Parking: During busy periods, the free parking lot is full, but paid street parking is available.“
“Best soba in Honolulu! If you’re searching around for soba restaurants, do yourself a favour and just go here. This was my second favourite meal during our entire honeymoon trip in Hawaii and we came back on the last day. I got the Tempura Soba Set A (Zaru style) and added Mentaiko. The soba is handmade so it’s fresh and bouncy and the tempura is fried perfectly. We also highly recommend getting the Miso Gindara- it was so buttery and flavorful! At the end of the meal, they will give you a pot of water that they used to boil the soba noodles. Pour a bit of it in your leftover soba dipping sauce and drink it for a soothing and clean tasting drink to end the meal. This place is popular so if you’re going during dinner, there will probably be a line up. Just write your name down on the board at the entrance and they will call you when your table is ready. There are two seats inside at the waiting area and a few seats outside the restaurant for you to sit while waiting.Highly recommend this place. Food is great and the ladies are so cute!Don’t forget, it’s BYOB. They just charge $1 for each cup.“
“It's a place you can get to from Waikiki by UVER for about $11, the prices are reasonable, the atmosphere is good, and the food is delicious, and it's comparable to a Japanese izakaya. There was also a bottle of shochu, which was very helpful for those of us who are big drinkers. I definitely want to come back to Hawaii again!“
“Never have I had more flavorful sushi rice. Came here for lunch and had the sushi cup, one crab and ikura and one salmon with ikura, the karaage musubi and shrimp tempura musubi. They were beautifully made and the rice was seasoned perfectly. They were fresh and were not skimpy with the ikura. They are just a takeout with only one table outside for 3 people. My friend and I just cleaned our sushi bowls (parfait of rice, edamae, salmon, etc) and musubis. This is truly a wonderful place to grab lunch! Will be back for their bentos!“
“We made a reservation online, it was so easy to make and modify. We showed up about 15 minutes early and were immediately seated. The mixed drinks were great and not too sweet! I hope the pictures of the food speak for themselves. but just in case they don’t… everything was so delicious and the portions were pretty big as well! Will definitely visit next time I am in the area.We had the following:- garlic shrimp, fried rice, and salad- garlic chicken, fried rice, and salad- green tea ice cream- drinks: margarita, Chibo’s tropical punch, and a Scorpion- I was also pleasantly surprised by 2 complimentary green teasOur total was $120. If would have easily been< $100 if we didn’t get mixed drinks or ice cream, but I’m so glad we did! Don’t miss out if you are in the area.“
“Prices are very decent here for quality of food you're getting! Fried oysters were delicious. All the beef we ordered was very well marbled and melt in your mouth. We ordered the garlic fried rice near the end of our meal and I'm so glad that I did. Super garlicky, make sure you order it when you come here! Will return for sure next time I'm back in Hawaii!Owners were super friendly as well!“
“Great sushi! First timer at Morio’s and it was a fun experience. We brought a few bottles of sake so we could share with the staff and with Morio. Omakase was excellent, super fresh fish and perfectly seasoned sushi rice. Will definitely be going back when we can get a reservation!“
“The sushi here was FANTASTIC! I got the Hawaiian roll, and it was the best sushi roll I've ever had. It was the perfect balance of textures and flavors. No soy sauce required!I also enjoyed watching their television of various authentic Japanese dishes being made. Very fascinating.“
“The restaurant was small and quaint, it only had about 7 seats at the sushi counter, which is about the entirety of the restaurant. The staff there are phenomenal and extremely nice. They really care about the service they provide, constantly cleaning your area, filling your drink, and even show you a picture of the fish for each piece. The restaurant was omakase style, and you have the option to add a few more pieces to it at the end. They served about 15 pieces, along with two apps, and dessert. The sushi itself was overall good, 3-4 outstanding pieces, and the rest were good. Not a single piece was fishy, nor an undesirable texture. My only complaint is that the eel had small fish bones in it.Overall, solid sushi place. As a side note, they refuse to accept tips, as traditionally it's included in the price.“
“I ate at Maguro Bros Waikiki 5 nights in a row and also go to enjoy the Chinatown location for lunch one day. The nice difference with the Chinatown location is that it offered some cooked dishes which I really enjoyed. The grilled ahi belly and miso salmon were both excellent and my family thought the same also. The guys at Maguro Brothers put in long days to get the best fish and provide friendly service. Far and away, this was the best place for me and my family to eat in Honolulu!“
“This place was extremely busy when we showed up but the staff was working very quickly and was able to get everyone their food surprisingly fast. Quality of food is great. Pricing is pretty standard for Hawaii standards and the experience was overall quite enjoyable. I can see why they are highly rated across Polk spots in Hawaii Oahu.“
“Always a treat when visiting Oahu for my wife and I. Got a medium sashimi plate and a spicy ahi poke bowl. If you enjoy sushi and know your fish, you will agree that the quality here is unmatched. Fish is tender and fresh with no imperfect cuts. Recommended 100%“
“Ate here on a Wed night at the bar. The bar tender is such a vibe setter and instantly made us feel comfortable and welcome. His recommendations for drinks and food made this one of our top and most well-rounded meals of a 10 day visit. Will come back every time. Highly recommend!“
“We ate there about a week ago. The food was incredibly delicious. Everything we ate was super fresh. We enjoyed everything. The service was great too. The sushi person explained everything he served which made the meal great. The restaurant is cozy and clean. Have told friends and family about this hidden gem“
“Been stopping by off and on for a couple of years now... food is Always tasty and of good, fresh quality. Prices are very reasonable and Albert, who usually staffs the front is most polite and appreciative of your business, big or small. Most recently, garlic chicken and their sushi roll bento were enjoyed by work colleagues, as well as the fresh, warm andagi. What a treat! Go before the lunch rush for best street parking.“
“overall, 4.5 stars. needed a quick dinner and this hit the spot! it's self serve so you can pick whatever flavors you want, and then when you pay they offer to torch the cooked ones, like the bulgogi and unagi. super fast service, and they have good combos for rolls and drinks to add on too. the pricing is pretty fair for the size of these, but the discount for ordering a bigger box size isn't significant. either way, 4-5 pieces is only $15 per person! there's a lot of choices so I'd come back to try new ones! ps it's right next to yifang perfect spot to get dinner and a drink“
“Parking lot is on the left side of the storeYou can park two cars vertically, but when parking, please pull up to the wall next door, as business vehicles come in and out of the store. There are many posts about meals, so please refer to them.I always stop by on my way home from Diamond Head. It was very delicious.“
“This place is amazing and the fact that it is a 4.4 star place cements my distrust of google reviews. We did the omakase course and it was worth every penny. We will be dreaming about the miso butter fish for the rest of our lives. This is the closest I have come to feeling like I was back in Japan that I have gotten in the states.“
“Small place nested in market city the parking has ample space and is make a reservation due to the size but walking in odd hours works too. The broth is so flavorful and the fresh locally sourced vegetables are delicious, the staff are excellent in recommending different broths to your liking since there are a pretty robust variety. They also have zosui (the rice dish ) you make at the end with all the delicious flavors you incorporated into the broth.“
“I was looking for an omakase spot last minute to top off my solo trip to Hawaii and Sushi Sho was by far the highest, most recommended place that I saw. I was somehow luckily able to snag a reservation for 1 and although I was a bit hesitant because of the price tag, knowing how difficult it is to get a spot here, I thought it was a sign I could not miss out, and I'm so glad I did it. From the thoughtful service to the carefully and delicately crafted dishes, Sushi Sho has become my all time favorite omakase experience. We had a total of 27 courses including dessert and it was such a delight tasting each dish not knowing what to expect, but genuinely enjoying all these flavors in a new way. The staff make sure that your dietary preferences are met so that you can have a completely well rounded meal that you will enjoy. Thank you Sushi Sho for an amazing time, this will def be one of the most memorable experiences of my Hawaii trip.“
“Super small shop selling all sorts of misubis, make sure to get there earlier because they do sell out. I went at noon and there's only 3 or 4 kinds of misubis left. Also they basically can only serve one person at a time, so when there's an indecisive person trying to decide what they want they hold up everything.“
“Oh gosh...chicken over rice is so bombastic! It sounds incredibly boring but it is an amazing dish. The chicken is so tasty and when put over the turmeric rice and served with a freshly washed, cold salad, it is even more delicious! In February alone, I went 3 times and have bought 5 chicken over rice meals!! It is THAT good!! The people are super friendly and they even remembered me ("Thank you for coming back!" ).“
“Ordered the wagyu beef set, chicken, and salad. The draft beer is super dry and the food is delicious. I wouldn't say it was like the old Yakiniku Hiroshi, but it was good and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's just a little hard to find the place.“
“This is my second time coming to Yohei. It is my go to restaurant now every time I come back home to visit. Not only the quality is great but the quantity is lots as well especially for the price. But overall the ambiance and the people are a breath of fresh air. Too bad there is not much great customer service in the restaurant buisness like they do have at “Yohei”. Thank you again so much for the awesome food and service!❤️“
“Food so ono! Everything was delicious! We had the Eggplant, Lobster pasta, Scallops, & Beets. I never thought I'd be a Beet fan, but I couldn't get enough! I'll be back!*they have the option to order from your smartphone. Personally I don't like that, but it is efficient AND the staff is happy to take your order the good old fashioned way.“
