“It was a great show. I can’t imagine this as a great food but every thing is better with unlimited saki and amazing companies. My wife and I had a great time. It wasn’t hard to find just under staircase and you felt transported out of New York. The food is amazing. They put up a great show and quality is reasonable. I enjoy the food but you can really drunk with the saki.Amazing restaurant and definitely a visit if you are in town. Experience depends on the host.“
“It is a small and unique fusion Japanese restaurant.LINGO BEEF PIE, it's beef pie. It's so delicious when eaten soaked with the bread we ordered together, and it's fantastic with a glass of wine.CRISPY CAULIFLOWER, white brucoli. The seasoning was a little bit of Kkanpunggi sauce with a hint of Japanese pickled ginger... Oh~??????I ordered HOKKAIDO MILK BREAD... I ordered this to eat with beef pie! So delicious potato bread??Everything was really delicious!andI ordered a special dessert that wasn't on the menu... Sour, refreshing and sweet, it cleanses your mouth properly...(My friend who went with me likes the Chinese style soup... but he said it's not delicious! Please note)If you like Japanese-French fusion, this is perfect??????“
“Brought my girlfriend here to celebrate Valentine’s Day and her birthday as well. Not too familiar with omakase experiences but had absolutely nothing negative to say about the food. Fish tasted fresh and simple. Service was exceptional, warm and friendly. Immediately felt welcomed and at home. Also brought us a surprise birthday cake at the end.“
“The ambiance is stylish and comfortable, and the dishes are exquisite? We chose the ?$100 pp Omakase for 2 and also ordered a few appetizers and nigiri a la carte. The appetizers include a steamed egg—soft and smooth, with the sauce flavor just right—you can order it with added Uni.Since every ingredient was so fresh and sweet, we couldn't resist ordering more scallop, uni, and wagyu nigiri to satisfy our cravings~The cocktails were fruity and very professionally made?. The dessert's cheesecake has sesame flavor?Check this place out‼️“
“Wow, what a night, with flavors that can barely be described. They are so perfectly crafted. The almond miso soup packs so much flavor. The skewers are delicate. But the star of the show is the mazemen. I'm not sure I've ever had a dish like this and not sure I'll have one again. Definitely add the egg to give this dish and edge you will tell everyone about. The staff also deserves a shout out as everyone is so pleasant, knowledgeable and they make it seem like they've all been working together forever.“
“Came here for a surprise birthday lunch. Menu: Shrimp head Shrimp Mushroom Fish with the bones (?) Snow Crab with Shiso Leaf Brussel Sprout with Seaweed(?) Scallop Snow pea & Baby Onion Flying fish Lotus Anago Tendon with miso Wasn't incredibly oily at the end of everything, I had a beer to go with my meal as a palette cleanser. Service was great, showed great attention to customers. Chefs were attentive, and notice when you want a good video shot at the whole frying process and try not to ruin your video. As a small extra birthday surprise, added a nice large strawberry with a mochi ice cream. Great experience, would love to try again someday.“
“I think this place is great. Especially for a date night too. The Temaki they serve is great for a 2 bite situation, making it really easy to share between 2… if that’s your thing. To be honest, coming here and getting the classic & signature is just as $ as getting delivery sushi, maybe a bit more expensive but it’s worth it. High quality ingredients & thought out flavors.Personal favorite temaki is the XO scallop. The whole entire restaurant is gluten free by the way, so that might win a lot of people over. The interior & vibe is definitely for a certain demographic and will become aged out within maybe a year or two. The interior is on the same note of that Tend instagram dentist place, and that’s not a compliment. The music they play reminds me of what they would play at like a retail store.Dietary restrictions: The entire restaurant is gluten free & can help gluten intolerance with their meal.“
“We had a great anniversary. We got the 12 piece + 2 hand roll omakase set for $53. The fish was super fresh and the whole meal was about 45min. There’s about 12-15 seats at the counter, so if you want to guarantee seating book a reservation. It was absolutely worth every “
“This is probably our favorite bar in the area. The cocktails are always changing and always delicious. Lisa does a fantastic job and never misses a beat. Also don't sleep on the food. The spicy chicken and truffle fries are phenomenal. It can get crowded because it's so good so getting in early is best to get a good seat. That being said, the atmosphere is lively but chill. Highly recommend it.“
“If you happen to be around Brooklyn and have about an half hour or an hour to spend, I would definitely recommend this place. It's close to the subway. This is a very eye opening place to visit if you are interested in dashi in general. The store has variety of dashi for you to try (also vegan options) and also allows you to create your own, which is super fun and educational. They have a lot of imported japanese products + meal, which could be a bit pricy; however, consider you dont have to fly to Japan to get them, they are acceptable and worth try at least once. The atmosphere is super nice. Nice lighting/furnitures and everything. The staffs were also super informative and could help you in a lot in making decisions toward unending dashi ingredients.“
“I just cannot get over how good the katsu is. The chicken katsu curry has to be my favorite in the city by far and has been since they opened. It's hard for me to find time to go here, but it's such a genuinely rewarding meal, and i'm happy to sacrifice the place being open daily for the love and time that seems to go into everything there, from the in-house food to the curation of snacks and drinks. The portion is absolutely enormous, bigger than any ive had anywhere here or abroad, and the quality is astonishing. It's just so good.Cool shirts too :)“
“An absolutely amazing experience. Every piece of sushi was meticulously prepared and so so delicious. Your mouth will go on a journey that will leave your taste buds unable to appreciate any other piece of sushi. This place is amazing and we'll definitely be back.“
“Probably one of the better Korean BBQ spots I've been too. The meat was quality and I like that you can order combo platters that are perfect for sharing between 4 people. We did two rounds of beef and the food tasted great. Would recommend. It gets busy so make a reservation ahead of time.“
“My friends treated me and my wife to dinner here as an engagement present. We all had a wonderful time and thought the food was top notch. On top of the fresh fish and impeccable presentations, I really appreciated that Don was so accommodating to dietary restrictions. Many restaurants serving omakase are unwilling to make changes. I would absolutely come back again and recommend this to anyone.“
“Has such a yummy and pleasant omakase experience in Astoria on a week night, thanks to That Place. The restaurant is so beautifully decorated and clean. The host/server was so attentive and sweet during the entire 1.5hr experience - my water/tea was refilled almost automatically after every sip. Same is also included in the omakase pricing which is really nice for drinkers ! The chefs worked together and created really delicious pieces- every one was super yummy. Their matcha ice cream and cheesecake were also so good ! Overall, was such a great experience and will definitely be back again for a weeknight or weekend dinner.“
“Have come here a couple times for dinner. Both times, we tried different dishes that were both classic Japanese food and also some unique specials. The last time we went we sat in the back of the restaurant past the kitchen, which is quite crowded. There was a table of screaming children (standing on their chairs screaming), being really disruptive which affected our experience a bit. Food is top notch, and service is extremely friendly.“
“Absolutely my favorite place for sushi. When you order the omakase you aren't just served different cuts of fish you may be familiar with like bluefin tuna but rather get a series of carefully crafted pieces combining flavors you'd never expect. Whenever friends visit New York, I always suggest Sushi “
“This is true Japan. Real Japan. A modest restaurant of the highest quality. A small space on a side street. This is authentic Japan. There are two tables and a counter - 12 seats total. The chefs are right there. The server too, all are soft spoken and focused on their craft. The food is... The food is... The food is so good. So, so good. The sashimi melted, balanced with the spicy thing. The mazeman incredible, full of umami and flavor. The ramen healed my soul :)Do me a favor if you go... Eat, enjoy and leave. Be efficient... Be respectful. Be Japanese. It's a small space, they're too nice to move you along, but c'mon, allow them to serve more people and make more money“
“My family and I went to the Lobster club for dinner and in short it was amazing. The food was so unique but soo delicious, there wagyu dishes especially. Of course we had to get a lobster dish which we ended up getting two orders of, the restaurant itself is so beautiful. As soon as you walk in you see a beautiful scenery. The service was good cant complain about anything they were able to accommodate for my moms birthday and bring out a cake which was very nice and there dessert selection is very unique as well! Overall I would definitely come back, this restaurant is definitely on the pricer side but it definitely worth it once you take that first bite!“
“Yesterday was our first visit to the Osaka Sushi Restaurant, today is our second visit. We came to the Osaka Sushi restaurant from Las Vegas to New Jersey on a trip. Their business is very good, We saw a lot of peoples eating sushi here when we be there. the owner of a warm reception for us, we came for the first time, gave us a lot of good recommendations, food is very fresh. The service is very good, the atmosphere is very good, we see someone's birthday, we are very happy. We'll be back!“
“TLDR (4.5/5) The only reason I did a (-0.5) is because the line can get busy and VERY long. I mean everybody wants to stay for a while for a reason! The vibe is fantastic! Going in from the walk down to the entrance into a very compact but full of life bar environment. You get to sit down and enjoy some pretty great food for a bar. (The Crab Croquette is insane! The Dessert just hits the spot because it's huge!) The drinks are above average with rather standard drink pricing. There is a lot of variety in terms of Japanese Whiskey. You really come here for the vibes, it just has this charm with the toy train going at the top, the jazz band playing in the back, and the ambient lighting around sporadically placed objects of random knickknacks! You won't regret going here for a unique experience, if you can get in haha!Warning: There is a $10 fee just to go in as a fee for the live band.Band stops playing around 1AM-2AMFood (4.5/5): Mentioned it before but the Crab Croquette blew my mind! It's so freaking hot though so please be careful and don't burn your tongue haha. It's basically this really decadent hot crab cream inside that just explodes with flavor. Easily a must get along with the Hot Honey Toast if you are a lover of desserts. That thing is easily meant for two people and it's delicious. Not the best dessert but unique enough to stand on it's own. For savory foods, can never go wrong with the okonomiyaki. That comes out fresh as hell and it was cold out at the time sooo it is a bit biased. Was it the best, no, was it damn good, yes. Yaki soba was good and I think personally the onigiri's were lacking(2.5/5). The Fried curry croquette was very standard, like we're talking (3/5) for that. As a bar, the food is definitely a stand out for here.Service(4/5): Service was wonderful. The individuals might seem a bit rushed but everyone is Japanese. They can understand English but they constantly deal with the massive line. Can definitely see some people being offended at the line with how they operate but there is a language barrier. There is a reason why it's (5/5). At the end of the day they are nice and courteous. You can crack jokes with them and there are no complaints. It really isn't a restaurant so don't expect water refills all the time. This is a Jazz Bar at the end of the day so you got to keep those expectations there.Reminder: I am Asian, does that mean there is a bias, maybe, just maybe. P.S. They are really really nice to other people not just Asians. That was a joke earlier hahaDecor and Ambiance (4.5/5): It gives that Cowboy Bebop vibe if you know it. If you don't, imagine hole-in-the-wall, hard-boiled detective style, midnight sit down and relax at 12AM with the moon out vibe. Could also be a cute date spot but it gets loud. The Jazz isn't peak performance but it does it's job at adding to the ambiance. The bar is fantastic and has personality. The decor around the whole place is adorable. Each corner is different from one another. A mini train that goes around one corner to this old fish tank with random items inside. It's great! Chairs are comfy but not mind-blowing. Ambient lighting is a plus but terrible for food pictures. It's really hard to get it right. Bathroom is clean. Can confirm bathroom is clean and it's a little tight to get there but it's not bad.Overall (4.5/5)Nonetheless, for sure this is a place I'll revisit in the future. The line is long but it's worth it once in a while. Especially if it is your first time, I'd say it's worth the visit just come early or late enough to avoid the big lines. If you are looking for a bar crawl and are around the area, this is a solid choice. You can't go wrong with a little Tomi Jazz in your life. If the line is huge I'd say you have better chances somewhere else but if it's small, you are in for a lovely treat!“
“I'm not sure where people got the idea that this restaurant is kosher when it's clearly stated on their Instagram and website that they aren't. If you want glatt kosher, go into the Satmar part of Williamsburg or drive a few miles into Crown Heights.I heard about this place from a local friend and decided to check it out during my vacation in Brooklyn. The concept is unique - a Japanese-style izakaya offering a fusion of Jewish and Japanese cuisine. The waiter was kind, helpful, and incredibly friendly, guiding us through the menu. The okonomiyaki reminded me of a love child between a pastrami Reuben, a latke, and a Japanese okonomiyaki, with flavors so intertwined you can't distinguish the origins. Some might argue that the prices are high, but I think they miss the point. The dishes are meant to be shared family-style, so when you split the dishes with a friend or two, the prices become quite reasonable. We ordered quite a bit of food between the two of us, and had dessert along with a beer and a sake. We didn’t break the bank.My only gripe is that the restaurant is very small, making it hard to avoid overhearing other people's conversations or having waitstaff squeeze between tables.Overall, it's a hidden gem in the trendy, hip side of Williamsburg.“
“My friend and I stopped in for dinner recently. It's a cozy ambiance with chill tunes. I feel like Chef Parsley invited us into her personal home and prepared a home-cooked meal for us. My time dining at Chopped Parsley made me forget that I was in Hamilton Heights, and more like I was in a small mountain-town eatery. I believe the absence of delivery motorists contributed to the peacefulness I experienced at Chopped Parsley. Highly recommended and I will be back!“
“Truly enjoyed my first omakase experience. I got so lucky to have Yama-san to be my chef for the night. His skills were amazing and each nigiri was served with a smile and hospitality. I am sure there are omakases out there that deserve the highest praises but for me, I’ll hold this experience dear because each and every course I had were so heartwarming and I could see the integrity in Yama-san as a sushi chef. I came to this omakase alone but I did not feel as such because he made me feel welcomed. I did not think I would learn so much in an hour, while being served food. It was such a delightful experience. I hope to have him again next time I visit NYC.“
“What an experience! The food, service, and ambiance were great! Sitting at a communal table where everyone is served all at once is an interesting concept. You get to see other diners reactions to each course and in between you can converse with other everyone, including the staff. Each dish was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will gladly return.“
“The most fun and engaging Omakase you'll ever experience. Talk about fun, raunchy and in your face . One hour experience without having to worry about behavior, matter of fact, the staff wants you to be loud and let loose. I've been to many Omakse around the $100 range but nowhere is this much fun. If you haven't experienced Sushi On Me then shame on you. I applaud the staff there for coming up with a party Omakase concept and I can't wait to be back. In closing, forget your mild mannered Omakase and just let it loose here or at their Brooklyn location.“
“Our experience at NR, was mostly positive. The Japanese fried chicken appetizer left us underwhelmed, lacking that special touch. However, the chicken soup curry stole the show with its amazing taste and generous portion size, making it a preferable choice over the ramen.Speaking of ramen, while it wasn't bad, it didn't quite justify making a special trip here for it. There are other spots in the city that excel in ramen. On the bright side, the service was excellent, and the ambiance had a charming speakeasy vibe, evoking the essence of old NYC.Overall, NR is a great spot to visit with a date or friends, offering a delightful experience with standout dishes like the chicken soup curry. However, if you're solely craving ramen, you might find better options elsewhere in the city.“
“Our meal at IWAK was good enough to call it a Williamsburg gem after one try. Great rolls, pork buns, and sake. The service and atmosphere felt more reminiscent of Japan than a number of other sushi spots.Excited to have a new sushi favorite nearby!“
“I made a reservation and went for lunch on a weekday. It seems that you can order the same menu as at night, but we ordered the lunch-only value menu.10 pieces of nigiri and one roll cost about $58 including tax and tip.The taste is absolutely delicious! This is Japanese sushi! That's what it feels like. The size of the rice is just right, neither too small nor too big.The grip is perfect, and it feels fluffy when you put it in your mouth. I'm grateful for the sushi that doesn't have too much sushi. The ingredients were also fresh.10 kan and one roll may seem like a small amount at first glance, but you'll feel full after eating them. Just the right amount. We also offer roasted green tea when you pay.The atmosphere inside the store is calm and the restrooms are clean. In addition to counter seats, there are also table seats. This time I was seated at a table, but next time I would like to sit at the counter. The service is courteous and frequently refills your glass. I think the staff are probably only Japanese.I found a good store that I can recommend to others.I would like to go with friends who are not Asian. It has become my favorite store.“
“Server Xin from Sushi Gama has set a high standard for restaurants in the East Side area! Our server, Xin, was the best part of our experience. Xin displayed wonderful customer service and is by far the best server we've ever encountered. A big shout-out to Xin! He was a wonderful waiter because he provided amazing service and was very attentive. He kept changing out any dirty plates without us even having to ask. We would definitely come back for him!“
“This was perfect for a cheap yet tasty a filling lunch. They also have a good selection of Japanese groceries but I was here for their freshly made omusubi which they offer in a variety of flavors. I got a spicy tuna and chashu pork - both were delicious and two were the perfect amount for a nice lunch.“
“The restaurant itself is a bit bare boned, but oddly it reminded me of Japan. It was quite empty, and it seemed like they do more with online/take out orders. Server was nice, but a bit pushy with sake and specials. Food was pretty good; we enjoyed the shishito peppers and garlic karaage as starters. Tonkatsu Ramen was great and sushi tasted fresh.“
“Good omakase place. Shari preparation is above average, good amount of rice, good temp, good tightness and vinegar combinations. Very few choices of hikarimono here, and Aji was just ok. Since I am a pure edomae enthusiast, an offering of Wagyu sushi (an extra price, of course i did not order bz it is not a pure edomae tradition) was disappointment to me since smoke smelling of wagyu beef spread all over the sushi bar. Services were excellent and a very nice, spacious atmosphere inside. I may try this place again for the second time. Overall reasonable to good omakase sushi.“
“The experience at this sushi restaurant was truly exceptional! Sylvia, our waitress, played a crucial role in making it so. Not only was the sushi of the highest quality, but Sylvia's attentiveness and knowledge added an extra layer of enjoyment to our meal. Her warm demeanor made us feel welcome and valued throughout the evening. A dining experience elevated by both exquisit food and outstanding service.“
“BEST OMAKASE IN NYC. The quality here is as good as it gets. The service is incredible always. The chefs are extremely talented and accommodating. The fish they have is always fresh and different. They do have speciality fish some nights which you can try. The price is more than fair you truly get what you pay for here. The experience is always 10/10.“
“Impressive quality and value for both the omakase and handroll bar. Though, I think the best time to visit is for $10 handroll happy hour prices on weekdays from 2-5pm.For handrolls, the salmon pate and grilled yellowtail pate are so unique and delicious - I’d highly recommend giving a try.“
“Omakase style sushi bar which is absolutely delicious. Reservations are a must; each round has space for about eight people. Two chefs prepare one piece after another to be enjoyed. Best ginger I’ve ever had at a sushi place! You can get green tea but they serve no alcohol or drinks! So bring your own bottle - they supply a silver ice cooler :) we paid around 280$ for a great evening. We didn’t say it was my birthday dinner but the women next to me got this amazing sushi cupcake creation with a little candle (and her bday was 3 days prior - so a little jealous ;) ) - tell them!“
“This restaurant opened a couple weeks ago, right next to the Baccarat Hotel ground floor! I have tried many Omakase places, but the chef Anthony Inn served dishes I have never tried. Presentation, Balanced flavor, Texture, Aroma, Execution, all there! Taru has everything from Omakase, Cooked Dishes, and Fantastic Dessert Selections. The Pastry Chef Natsume Aoi is perfection! Her deserts are must try! Also, there's a beautiful bar at the front with a great selection of cocktails, wine, sake, and scotch! The staff is attentive, and I loved the real bonsai tree in the center. I would highly recommend it, so definitely try it!“
“Sushi chef was heavy on the fish. Staff were adorably kind. Place is small and neat. Most decent sushi place in the entire neighborhood.I got the salmon dinner and an uni sushi. It comes with a side of either miso soup or salad. I could not finish it and had a cute little to go box for my leftovers.Price is a bit steep since I chose a moderately expensive dish plus the uni which was market price. There are more affordable options on their menu.“
“Came here on a cold Wednesday night and absolutely was blown away by their ramen. Specifically the Tabata ramen was top notch!! On the menu it notes that the Tabata ramen is spicy but it is not (I don't tolerate spicy foods well so was hesitant to order). It was amazing and the service was quick and friendly. I usually like trying different ramen places every time I get it but will definitely return and make this an UES staple restaurant for me!“
“Giving it a 4 stars because the effort and intent was there, but the Miso ramen was unfortunately too rich for my tastes and I couldn't finish the broth, although the wavy noodles were perfect, very Q. The Karaage was some of the best I've ever had - it came out quickly and straight out of the fryer and it was melting in my mouth. One waitress was working the whole restaurant and was doing a fantastic job. 5 star service for sure.“
“Tucked away out of plain view, the charming interior and beyond exceptional cuisine make this place a 10/10. ROKC exhibits true craft and ownership of the dishes and drinks they put forth and you can tell they love what they do. Their cocktail menu is true artistry, an experience within itself.“
“i was blown away by the attention to detail and mastery/execution of every single dish that came out from their omakase. i didn’t take pictures of every piece of sushi that came out but i will simply say that the chef has taken their time to understand the complex flavor profiles of each fish and carefully paired them with the perfect sauces/marinade to best complement their nuanced flavors. every single item served to me that night was delicious and carefully/methodically crafted to delight all the senses.“
“Vegetarian options: They definitely had them!Kid-friendliness: We were able to bring my six week old niece. The restaurant was quiet and calm, the baby slept straight through our family’s meal and we didn’t feel weird about having the kid at all“
“Really great atmosphere except tables are really too close to each other.I had the veg ramen and it was really delicious. The broth flavor was really delicious.I kinda wish there was tofu instead of vegan protein because it was crumbled and just fell into the broth so it wasn’t really filling but tasty. And the cabbage was like the hard ends of the cabbage; I didn’t enjoy. But overall really yummy. And I was going to get the regular matcha shaved ice but it was huge so the waitstaff said they had a few of the little ones from restaurant week left over and those had non-dairy ice cream underneath. It was delicious! I’d go back and get some more of that matcha ice for sure!!Vegetarian options: There is one vegan ramen.“
“Great lil Izakaya! The staff are extremely friendly and hospitalable, the food is delicious, the portion sizes are very generous, and a combination can be made if asked in advance.Definitely get the cheese corn and put some sweet soy sauce on it... And ask for the sweet and spicy sauce on the side, it makes any dish 50 times better lol. There's two other locations in New York, apparently one is in Manhattan, I'm not a local so I can't remember where the other location is... Either way I'm coming back to the Flushing location as I just really love the atmosphere, the location, and the staff...If you see the owner, tell them that the Black nerdy girl from Mississauga recommended the place and said to say hi ?“
“Had a late lunch here with a friend while visiting Cliffside Park. The service, food and atmosphere was good! I really enjoyed my time in this area. I will return when in the area again. I had the spicy ramen, spicy tuna rolls, hot tea and tempura fried ice cream for dessert ?“
“The ramen was not bad, but I don’t think there was anything particularly special about this ramen place compared to other ones in the city. It was nice because it was pretty empty and easy to get walk-in seating. Would come again for a quick, warm meal.“
“The rice, baked in a black-enamel cast iron casserole with a whole or nearly whole lobe of foie gras, never leaves the menu. It’s impressive to look at — almost everybody takes a photo — and to eat. It’s mashed and stirred extensively before it’s served, leaving the foie gras in small, nearly invisible bits. You taste their memory.“
“A lovely place to sit down and enjoy food while getting away from the hustle and bustle of day to day life. We ordered several ala carte rolls, the inari sushi combo, and an oshinko appetizer and eat items are worth every cent. A perfect balance of textures and flavours in each roll while also being of good size!“
