Spoke with the proprietor for a bit after he asked about why we were in Alaska. We asked the same & he gave his story. He made fresh cabbage for us after telling us how he does everything himself. Great young man & even better food. Of all the Jamaican spots I've been to, including Jamaica, his food is pretty good. He has a unique twist on his seasoning which made the jerk superb. This is definitely a Premier Eating Spot for Fairbanks and should be Highly Recommend. When we go back, this will be our 1st stop to eatParking: Parking is on the side, right by stairs to door”

There will always be a line of people waiting to be seated (at least during dinner time) and you can only make reservations if you call before 14:00. (I think it was 14:00). Nevertheless, give it a try. You won’t regret it if you like exploring new types of cuisine. I’ve been here a couple of times; I tried Bors (this was really good if you like beets), meatball soup, limba soacrei, salad olivie, salata vinegret, pelmeni, zrazy, sarmale (my so far favorite entree), coaste de vita (nicely done roasted beef ribs), costita de porc (the pork was a bit dry), mamaliga. Of course I didn’t eat all by myself, I shared!!! Don’t judge lol.”

“I am trying out all the sushi restaurants in town. So far I didn't really have much good impression from others so I tried this place after reading some good reviews. I don't know.. maybe my expectation is too high. I am from a huge city where you can see excellent quality, yet affordable sushi places every corner of the street I really miss good sushi.. we ordered sushi and sashimi boat for 2 people, it looked amazing but taste wasn't as good. It's not bad but The way they age fish for sushi is just not my style.. not much flavor, not too fishy, but really not much flavor. After a few bites, I got pretty tired of it, couldn't eat more even tho there were all different kinds, it didn't taste different or flavorful.. even tho i'mm eating different kind, it tasted like same thing repeat, not satisfying for the price. People were super super friendly ,nice and polite so I feel bad that I'm leaving a negative review. My boyfriend who's from here liked it so I guess it's good for fairbanks quality. we'll come again to try other items :) cabbage salad, miso soup was great. Maybe I try rolls next time !!”

My wife and I both had the Foxy cut, Rare and Medium well respectfully. Both cuts just melted in your mouth. The portion size, the flavor, the tenderness. Everything was perfect. The children both had the Salad bar and split chicken fingers. Even that portion size was huge. And let's not forget the Escargot. Very nicely sized with a wonderful garlic, butter ratio with some lemon on top. I would highly recommend finding this place if you're in Fairbanks.”

“First time consumer at Lane's Quickie Tacos. From the moment I walked in I was impressed with how friendly Lane was. He introduced himself, as well as Brady and even took the time to ask my name. He then very patiently walked me through his entire menu. Home made tortillas were so soft and tasty. I tried 3 different tacos and they were all delicious. In fact I ordered one where I was a little hesitant on one of the toppings and Lane gave me a little sample first to assure me the flavors mix and mix very well, that one wound up being my favorite out of the 3 I tried. Upon leaving I said goodbye to both Lane and Brady, even though busy with other customers and Brady busy making tacos they both politely responded, thanked me for coming in as well wishing me a great remainder of the day. “I love Buckos so much! I have access to a nice espresso machine at home, but I still find myself going to Buckos several times a week when I’m in town working. All of the baristas are the best and make everyone feel so welcomed and the coffee is amazing. I love their specials; they are so creative with their drinks. I definitely recommend Buckos to anyone who wants good coffee in Fairbanks. They are the best!”

Even tonight, a man came in to warm up and the owner asked him if he had any gloves, he said no, and the owner walked out to his truck grabbed his gloves and brought them in and gave them to the man warming up. OH and yes, I had a blueberry muffin too- light and fluffy, with just the right blueberry to muffin ratio. Who could resist?!”

“I wanted to take my Granddaughter to a nice sushi restaurant since in our extended family she and I are the only sushi eaters. I would get sushi rolls and share with her from the grocery store but we had to go into Fairbanks for a dental appointment for her so we had a day of having fun. They open at 11:00 which fit my schedule so I decided to go to Kanpai. I ordered a bento box with sushi to "share." It was amazing. I commercial fish in Ketchikan and I can tell when fish was handled correctly; it was. I had her go to the counter to watch how the food was prepared and she loved it. The chef was gracious and deftly demonstrated the preparation for her. My wife doesn't eat raw fish so she got tempura instead and it was excellent. They also gave our granddaughter special training chop sticks that she got to take home! To top it off, the chef made a koala out of an orange for her dessert! Did she ever feel special. I highly recommend Kanpai for a special meal. The bubble wall kept her mesmerized and the playing grand piano added to the fine atmosphere. All the staff were exceptional.”

“Honestly, the best meal we had during our time in Fairbanks and we had a LOT of good meals. We got lucky and got in without a reservation, but knowing what I do now, I would make a reservation if I went back. The food was outstanding. In fact, the crab legs were SO good, that I refused to order them at any other restaurant as there is no way that they could be better. The staff was fantastic and the ambiance very nice. While it was a little pricey, we walked away feeling that it was worth every penny. We told anyone that we spoke with about it while there and several took our advice and went, sharing very similar reactions. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant. Best place we went during our week plus in Fairbanks!”

“The drive-thru speaker was very monotone and un-energetic, but after paying and pulling up to the second window, i was greeted with a smile and great customer service, including an apology for the wait(lunch rush). Although the food quality(For McDonald's) was outstanding! I got a spicy McChicken deluxe meal and had extra large piece of chicken with adequate amount of topping and even was loaded up with more than plenty fresh and hot fries, by far best quality and quantity ive ever experienced from a McDonald's”
