Just to clarify we live in Banff where apparently the two "best" ice creams places in the country are and they have NOTHING on Blue Spruce and just it's flavors.The young women behind the counter was a total sweetie and let us try a few before we settled on what we wanted. We couldn't make up our mind! Everything was so unique. Most flavors we had not heard of.The Spruce Tip ice cream was so bueno that my husband and I talked about it and compared it to every other ice cream we had for 2 weeks. Whether you live on the island, you're only visiting for a short time, or only there for a few hours to then catch a ferry....make some time for this place and get a double scoop to try two types.WOW! I'm drooling.”

It's a really home-y feeling in the bar, as you walk up yourself to order a wide array of aviation inspired beers (my favourite part). The flights are served in classy propeller shaped tray, and the ones I tasted were very tasty (Kitty Hawk was my favourite).We also ordered the Nachos.... and you should too. “We may have waited 20 minutes to get a table but after the first bite -- i would have waited an hour. This is a very quaint restaurant, prices were very fair considering the quality and hard-work the staff put into it. Breakfast was served quickly warm and every fork full was savoured. “Great pho shop, best pho in campbell river for sure and scratches the itch. The veggie pho is good but isn't made with the traditional star anise. The beef pho is very good, I'd recommend you start with rare beef slices in beef broth as it's a decent example. I moved from Toronto and have been struggling to find somewhere with a serviceable pho in a giant bowl with a stellar broth.We'll be coming here often through the winter.Vegetarian options: Veggie option lacks the anisette flavour. Get the beef broth with tofu if you can bend your rules a bit”

“Wow. I've been in the Comox valley for 3 years. My first time at this location. We had a coupon for two teenburger meals. We swapped out fries for onion rings . So reasonable . The burger was amazing, the root beer cold but the real reason I'm writing this is the staff. 6 stars. Food brought to the table by friendly, enthusiastic staff, a full assortment on dressings available and a clean and comfortable place. Get these kids a tip jar! Good job.”
“Went today for the first time since it changed ownership. I had always found it only mediocre before. Today was amazing. The server was amazing…polite, friendly, went above and beyond. Our perogies were delicious and it was the best cabbage roll I’ve ever had (apart from my own mother’s! lol and I’m very picky about cabbage rolls). It was my son’s 12th birthday and all he wanted was perogies and this did not disappoint! We will be back and spreading the word. Thank you so much ❤️”

The cafe is both a healthy social space for those meeting up with others for coffee or food, but they also have supported space for those of us who work from home. Sometimes it can be really isolating and hard to focus, and I get nervous trying new cafes because sometimes they don't allow laptops (even if it isn't busy). I appreciate Mudsharks for allowing space for us to work here–there are a lot of us who really appreciate it.”

But today (for the first time) we tried their cinnamon buns and despite me not being a lover of sweets I ended up convincing my kids to share half of theirs with me because they were TO DIE FOR!!! Not to mention, we were there on a year-end Scavenger hunt from our piano teacher and the customer service, kindness, and general friendly vibe was something you don’t often see. Thank so much to all of you amazing staff at Vassili’s! We will (of course) be back and felt fortunate to get to share your amazing gifts with our new-to-the-valley friends!”

“We stopped in for a late lunch November 2023. Place is small and in a grouping of other businesses. The menu has lots of choice besides sushi. Their menus is also posted online. Started with tea, which was nice. I had the assorted tempura with prawns and vegetables with side of miso soup and my hubby had Tropical teriyaki bowl which included miso soup to start. Both were very good! Small cafe restaurant with not too many tables, and we saw some people arriving to do take out. Overall atmosphere was pleasant as was our server. We would definitely go back again.Vegetarian options: Lots of choice if looking for dishes with no meat. The menu is posted online so can check it out ahead of time.Parking: There are a few spots outside of the restaurant, however there are more further along. Angle parking in very small strip mall type location. We managed to get a spot right out front.”

We noticed the fountain drinks taste more like soda water than soda lately and the gravy has been a little too salty in the past. This location is still one of our favourite drive thrus…to drive thru, when we are visiting.”

“I go for coffee there occasionally but how times have changed. Lot's of homeless coming in there now. Not to do with the restaurant or homeless, but when their pants are half way down and that's what you see, and you get asked for money. The coffee thing if fine, and I feel for the homeless but sometimes I just want to have a coffee.”

“Just STOP at the Whistle Stop! This under-rated, 80% locals nice-little-pub has some CRAZY hidden gems. We had the steak-n-prawns special ($15 ?) and the (you’ll need to sit down for this) STONEGRILL halibut. I can’t even. This seemed like an item that would be comfortable in any upscale urban restaurant. Pardon me going in and on about this menu item… it is a hot stone, 6”x6” (or maybe 6”x4”?) at 800 degrees, with lemons and then the halibut (raw) that cooks as you get oriented to your meal. You get salad or soup, an entire potato with fixins, and veggies. Add your butter to your veggies and then put them on the stone too! It is the freshest, hottest food you’ll have in a long time. 100% recommend this and there are steak options too.We had some good Guinness/ Kilkenny and hope the pub will feature even some cans of very local beer. Vancouver Island draft choices are good, but as always more would be better.Our server has been with the pub for 17 years and pretty much knows everyone which is saying something good.It’s down home, not fancy, keep your decor expectations low, but the menu and smiling faces mights surprise you in a good way. ?Sorry I ate all the food before I took the pictures. I honestly can't justify spending money or ordering from any other restaurant. “My sister and I drove from Nanaimo to try Javier's for the first time and we weren't disappointed! We shared the Peruvian Potatoes, Tortilla Soup, Tacos Dorados, Araminta's Chicken, and the Deep Fried Ice Cream. All of the food was so tasty and I loved the mix of Latin foods! We were also treated to delicious rice pudding during their anniversary week. We will be back very soon, it was well worth the drive!”
