If you like Italian cuisine and you like seafood, you must try this Sardinian restaurant, featuring a seafood-heavy Italian cuisine that's unlike most Italian restaurants in the area.I thought the place closed, and only recently learned that the restaurant survived the original owners retiring. A real estate agent who lived a couple of blocks away and who was a regular customer decided to purchase the business. They kept all the staff, including the head chef. Supposedly, it was just as good as under the original owners.We were certainly pleased with our visit.We started with simply grilled squid and an order of their Sardinian flatbread, pane carasau. The flatbread reminds me of Indian papadam, but flavored with olive oil and intense rosemary.For her entree, Marcia got the house specialty -- homemade spaghetti with spicy olive oil and shaved bottarga (cured fish roe). Whenever we've gone to La Ciccia, at least one of us orders this dish, and in this visit, it did not disappoint.I decided to try something different and get the fettucine with a tomato and sea urchin sauce, topped with a shaving of cured tuna heart. I love Marcia's pasta with bottarga, but I'm so glad I tried something new. The sauce was amazing -- the tomatoes didn't overpower the sea urchin, and that wonderful flavor of the sea shined right through.For dessert, we split the chocolate panna cotta. It was fine. Marcia liked it more than me. Toasted hazelnuts added a nice texture and flavor to the dish.“

We were just visiting the area after returning from a cruise and decided to try it. We enjoyed wine and appetizers of bruschetta, meatballs, Caesar salad, and beef carpaccio. Our main courses were Pappardelle with vodka sauce and Clams linguine with red sauce. We topped the evening off with a cannoli and limoncello and mascarpone cake with creamy lattes. Luisa was there watching that we got the best possible service. You owe to yourself to try this place at least once, but you'll probably return again and again.“

Chicken liver crostini was solid, good ratio of liver to toast, and the little radish and olive on the plate was nice. You do taste the liver though, don't get me wrong.Gnocchi with nettle pesto was very good, nice texture on the gnocchi, not too firm or bouncy. Pesto and fonduta were rich, the chanterelles adds needed textural and flavor contrast. Pizza with fungi was solid but I'd recommend the margherita next time for more contrast with the acid of the tomatoes. The crust is really good here, nice chew, solid base with a little droop. The fungi pizza was just a little one note with the richness from the cheese and a little savoriness from the mushrooms, missing some acid for freshness for balance.Market price on the 1lbs roasted snapper (other option was sea bream) was $42. Nice firm flesh and they remove the central bone in advance. The preserved Meyer lemon on the side was only ok, the parsley sauce was better, the grilled scallions quite good. We picked the cabbage with bagna cauda for our side - great execution/char on the cabbage, the sauce was savory without tasting fishy at all with some crouton/crispy breadcrumbs for contrast. Highly recommend the cabbage.Buttermilk panna cotta nailed the texture but my table mates commented that it just felt like Greek yogurt given the tang and that's fair. It's hard to get the passion fruit on the spoon so it's a bit of a waste. For the brown butter gelato and blood orange sorbet to, the gelato was better imo, more depth of flavor, quite dense, but it overall tasted more milky like a fior di latte with just a touch of nutty brown butter at the end. I wonder if they add more milk solids to the butter to bump that up. Blood orange could have been more orange-y, get some oil extraction of the peels or something.“

There is a public parking lot just a couple hundred feet to the left of the restaurant. Parking is only free on Sundays. We went on a Sunday night for dinner and the place was almost full. I tried their mushroom soup which was thick and had a strong mushroom flavor that was really flavorful, creamy and not salty. Their cup is really a bowl. Very generous serving. I ordered their mushroom ravioli with truffle sauce. The ravioli was all dente and the mushroom truffle sauce was very good. We also ordered their bruschetta which had several different variations. Probably the best bruschetta that I have tried. With so many people in the restaurant, it was quite loud. And having a conversation with your party you will need to raise you voice to be heard.Most entrees were in the $20-$27 range. This is definitely a family friendly place. It would be difficult to conduct a business meeting here during dinner. The place is clean and has a simple decor. Overall I would recommend you try this place.“
“This is my favorite San Francisco pizza. The crust is so uniquely SF, think inspired by Napoli dough but with a streak of SF sourdough culture. The crust is well hydrated, chewy, and charred. The toppings are inspired by classics and enhanced by fresh local ingredients. I more than willingly pay the $2 for a side of their homemade ranch that is freshly zested with lemon and dill— a beautiful contrast the cheese and richness of the pizza. “Holy cannoli! Came here twice in a week because it's that good. First time we dined in and had table service for three of us. The staff immediately greeted us with recommendations of the menu for food and drink. We started off with some cocktails- the Stemware at Dolores Martini, and a new addition which was basically a white Negroni. They were delish. For starters we ordered the focaccia bread and the fried mozzarella Carozza with a house made marinara. Both were an amazing way to start a meal. We shared the Bolognese and Gnocchi Carbonara with duck. Both packed with flavor. The Bologense tasted like I was at someone's house in Italy. We ended with the pistachio cannolis. The mascarpone was so soft and it wasn't too sweet. A perfect balance. It was so good I didn't even have time to take a picture. The second time we came we sat at the bar. It was a cool vibe to chat with the bartenders and watch the warriors game. The.l bar program should not be overlooked. We ordered the Lost Boy and the C is for Cookie. Both were delicious. I've never had a Manhattan with anise and Prosecco, but it worked. We again got the focaccia, this time with whipped ricotta and mortadella. It was amazing. We also used the bread to dip in the leftover sauce of the chilled artichoke. We shared the fried chicken and polenta as our entree. The polenta might be the best I ever had. The chicken was awesome, too. Perfectly crispy and juicy, and smothered with Calabrian chilis. Great flavor, not too spicy. We ended with that tiramisu, and once again might be the best I've had. The cake was moist and had the perfect balance of sweetness. I'll be back until I go through the whole menu. I'm looking forward to seeing this place evolves a great addition to the neighborhood!“

“It can be easy to walk by Heroic Italian and not realize it! There are no signs for the restaurant. Instead you will see a wine shop. Wine shop in the front, Heroic Italian kitchen in the back. When I entered, the man at the cashier explained that I could take a seat at any table outside, scan the QR code and order directly on my phone. The QR code links to the specific table you're at so they know who to bring the food to. I ordered the OMG spicy, no lettuce, add burrata. This sandwich was beyond delicious, literally the most perfect sandwich. I should have kept the lettuce on there since it prob would have balanced out the saltiness of the meats, but that's my fault! The roasted tomatoes were my favorite part!! They were so incredibly flavorful! My mouth is drooling just thinking about them! I can't wait to come back to SF to try their other sandwiches!“

As an appetizers, we got the butternut squash arancini ($13.50), which were unique to me with good flavor and texture. For pizzas, we shared the Burrata Red Pie ($24) and Clam White Pie ($24). I enjoyed the clam one more because it was more special and did a great job capturing the flavor. This place is near the top of my list for SF, especially after Marine Submarine changed owners and the new spot is not even close to what it used to be (and not to mention a very different style). Sandwiches come is different sizes to match your appetite. The slides meats are very high quality, and not just your average deli slices. I recommend the corned beef, pastrami, and roast beef. Like many Italian hoagies, the sauce is incredibly important and has to coat the lettuce and tomatoes just right. The bread is nice and flaky, and not too soft or doughy like a lot of other places. If I lived closer I would come here once a week. Note that they no longer have tables for you to sit inside, the are only take out right now.“

Cafe Stellato is a very cute cafe that greets you with a display of fantastic looking gelato (which I will be trying next time I come in!). But there are also a plethora of sandwich options available to those who make their way in toward the back of the cafe. I ordered the Stellato Special with the works, and my partner ordered the Alpino. The combination of turkey, artichoke, and sun dried tomatoes were delicious, and the ingredients all tasted very fresh. When asked, I opted for the spicy calabrese spread, though I was slightly disappointed that there was no real spice to it. My partner thoroughly enjoyed the Alpino as well, and commented multiple times on how tasty the pancetta (Italian bacon) was!Our order was taken very quickly, and the sandwiches were prepared nice and quickly. Everyone working there was friendly and efficient.I will definitely be coming back to eat my way through more of their sandwich menu. The pastrami sandwiches are really good and the bread they use is good as well. Sourdough is my ideal match for pastrami but from time to time I'll enjoy the dutch crunch as well. If you want a satisfying sandwich for lunch. I highly recommend this place. Staff is always friendly as well.“
