“I personally enjoyed this spot quite a bit. It was really exciting to step into the space that has been designed to feel, in my opinion, both elemental and austere but simultaneously well appointed and inviting. The service was mostly good, we had a medium sized group and they were able to accommodate us with short notice. One of my friends was unfortunately being difficult and I thought our server handled the situation positively. Bold and assertive flavors that feel deliberate and well considered. The execution of the food was good, the food was prompt and well seasoned. I think this restaurant does a pretty good job.“
“Food was impeccable. It gave me something to look forward to next time i’m in SF. They kindly exchanged a curry platter that was too spicy for me personally after a small misunderstanding and were really sweet about the whole thing. 11/10“
“Simple and laid back, when you first enter this little restaurant it feels rather unassuming. But your taste buds will be supremely satisfied after the small plates start arriving...oh the flavours!!! our favorites were the Brussels sprouts, beef curry (that sauce!), purple rice and the eggplant!!!The menu changes seasonally so we will indeed need to come back for more!“
“I came here on a Tuesday night when the restaurant opened at 5. I recommend making a reservation because the restaurant filled up quickly at 6 and there is not a lot of tables. Very nice interior with Thai music playing in the background. My partner and I got the chef selection set. I think this is the most worth because it offers a lot of variety with meats, seafood, and vegetables. Everything was fresh and I especially loved the meats because it was so tender! The sauces they offered took the food to another level. You should absolutely try all of them; my favorite was the tamarind sauce. Highly recommend ordering the garlic fried rice as your side too. Since it is hotpot and bbq, the waitress recommended us that we cook the meat over the charcoal and the veggies be cooked in the broth. However, I thought cooking some of the meats in the broth made it more flavorful. The broth is a light pork based broth. Overall a delicious and unique experience because this is my first time trying Thai bbq/hotpot. Service was terrific as well!“
“Have enjoyed the chicken rice bowl many times over the years, and it is very consistent. I typically go through every drop of their kmg sauce, which comes with the dish automatically, but consider ordering extra. Must get extra side of gai lan cause it's that good.“
“Was going to take a friend visiting to Son and Garden, but this popped up and was on the way. We walked in on a Sunday at 10am with no reservation and were seated immediately. Great service. Great food. Great atmosphere (other than the tables being a little too close together). I now prefer this over S+G. It feels like the cool younger sibling“
“When I visit Thai restaurants, I always get the same things - pad thai, green curry, and pad see ew. Oraan Thai Eatery offers Northern Thai specialty dishes that definitely broadened my horizons in terms of thai food! I'll list some of my favorites below (: *Pineapple Soda Such a refreshing drink that I don't mind having 10 of. It's not too sweet and has a subtle creaminess to it that left me wanting more! *Thai Iced Tea This isn't your average drink - they actually use 3 different types of thai tea to make this. I could definitely taste the difference and recommend this to all thai tea lovers. *Gai Manow This is fried chicken with their house made lemon cream sauce with crispy Chinese broccoli. Honestly this was my favorite dish. The minced chicken was light and crispy on the outside, and juicy on the inside. The sauce gave it a nice creamy flavor and I can't wait to be back to order this again. *Sukho Thai Noodle If you're looking for flavor bomb, this dish is for you! This is thai rice noodle topped with roasted pork, crispy pork slices, green beans, peanuts, and chili lime fish sauce. The broth is SO flavorful and good this was the other favorite dish of mine (:“
“Really lovely Thai spot right in the tenderloin district. The service was prompt and polite. The menu was really specific but had the specials well advertised. I enjoyed the red curry duck. It was the first time I ever had that dish and I would definitely order it again.“
“Must try!! I love this restaurant! Amazing food, lovely ambience, great service and staff :) every time I come here I always have a good time. Thank you to Sung and everyone at Kothai for a great birthday dinner!! Bonus - its right on the N haha ❤️Dietary restrictions: They offer vegan and vegetarian options“
“Loved our dinner at Nute’s! The gyoza appetizer was incredible, and all the noodle dishes were delicious. The waiter was fast, attentive, and honestly impressive to watch given he was the only waiter. We felt like we were back in Japan with the small tables, paper lanterns, and cozy vibe. Only thing to know is the wait was quite long due to the limited seating- next time we’ll put our name on their list (paper, not yelp) and then get a drink somewhere. Can’t wait to come back and try some of the other noodles!“
“Such a hidden gem - One of the best Thai restraunts Iv'e had in the Bay Area! They have a main menu that mostly contains the more standard Thai dishes that might see at a lot of other places. But they also have a hidden menu with some really unique Thai dishes that I haven't seen very often here but had when I visited Thailand and this brought back tons of memories! For the 2 of us, we got the fresh raw shrimp appetizer, papaya salad with blue crab, crab omlette, and stir fried morning glory. All the dishes were yum, but the first 2 were quite spciy! Servers are also super friendly and price is very reasonable for SF especially considering its location in the Marina. Highly recommend!“
“Flavor heaven! Had the Mussamun Curry and it was one of the best culinary experiences of my life. The aromas of the star anise and curry spices was intoxicating, the beef and veggies were cooked to perfection, and the overall depth and complexity of flavor was an experience I will remember for a long time. And the ambiance and customer service completed the experience. What a wonderful experience!“
“Hidden takeout spot inside a spacious Dogpatch building. Loved the larb tofu, the flavors, the crispiness. The broccoli was okay, a bit bitter, almost as if the seasoning was slightly burnt. The curry was very oily, but very delicious. Portions are on the small side, but the low prices reflect that. The person we picked up the food from was very friendly. The menu is limited, but if you're looking for some simple Thai food and flavors, some is better than nothing!“
“Delicious food so we can back both days of our trip! We live in Chicago but don't have something like this that we have found which is saying something!Food was awesome and server Noel was so friendly and helpful(^_^)Thank you so much!Vietnamese boba coffee drink was really good and I love being able to get pandan waffles or pho^_^Vegetarian options: Vegetarian pho! great tofu in it had flavor(^_^)Wheelchair accessibility: Accessible from street level!“
“Had dinner on Sunday night, full house with people waiting probably means a 5-star. However the main dishes (beef combination rice noodle, crispy pork with vege) we ordered were quite sweet and salty, different to what we expect in authentic Thai cuisine. Prices are reasonable, most items are $15-$20, large portion. It seems this is probably the only Asian restaurant within a 2 mile radius.“
“Highly recommend for delicious, well made, Thai food in a cozy no frills spot in the Richmond. Formerly King of Thai Noodle, the chef is the same as before the name change and the menu has a good variety of noodles, curries, soups, rice dishes and appetizers you’d expect (satay, papaya salad) Came here with my mom who loves their sweet and sour prawns-this is an amazing dish, the prawns are coated in a super light crunch that makes the whole dish come together. Sauce was perfectly balanced. I had the Tom yum soup with tofu and it was the perfect sour/hot combo. The bowl was huge. Pad Thai noodles were al dente and dry (a good thing, not too saucy). Service was fast, attentive and friendly. It’s a small space that can fill up quickly but tables turnover relatively fast and this place is totally worth the wait. So glad to have rediscovered this place and happy to have another option for great Thai food“
“First and foremost price vs taste 5 stars without question. If you need a quick fill up while exploring the city or mid day get me through you can not go wrong. I had the combination #2 individually the flavors and balance of each portion of the meal is great. I've had bad curry before and this one is good not great. Everything on the plate was balanced well. My only complaint is plating. Next time I will ask for the salad to be plated separately. It's a great addition and needed if you want to clean your pallet. The problem I had was the vinegar spread into Pad Thai noodle and cut into the richness off the dish. I enjoyed the proportion of protein vs noodle and curry. This place gets 5 stars based on the amazing value. If the dishes were in the $20 range than I would be disappointed in single plate plating.Vegetarian options: Need to communicate this with server as many dishes have meat. Including fried won tons.“
“A fusion restaurant with fun dishes and flavors. We were a group of three and ended up splitting the chicken and waffles, hot pot, and Gatai (Thai breakfast with minced chicken and egg). Everything is really tasty with a slight Thai twist to it. Our favorite was the chicken and waffles as their waffles tasted more like Belgian waffles. They have a bottomless brunch mimosa which can be great if you want to get the party started early. But it also means it can get a bit loud. Their non-alcoholic drinks also looked good. I had the Thai iced tea which was a bit on the sweeter side but just the jolt I needed.I’d come back if I was in the area, esp for the waffles.“
“Really pretty restaurant with fun decor (the spoons were little fishes!). It specializes in khaosoi which is one of my favorite thai dishes because it’s a delicious mix of sour and spicy and noodles. I got the beef khaosoi and it came with a huge rib that was slow cooked for 24hours. really delicious “
“Lots of paid metered parking on Geary, and the place is open late afternoon on weekends.Service is super friendly and the ambience is minimalist. The server suggested that for vegetarians in our party there were limited options. Only 1 of the curries (yellow curry) was truly vegetarian without shrimp paste. The sticky rice is on the starchy, super sticky side, and needs the curry to soften it up. Brown rice is cooked perfectly. We ordered a tom kha soup with Coconut milk soup with lemongrass, galangal, onion and mushroom. It was the perfect blend of Thai flavors with just a little sweetness and it was packing in heat. For the mains, Sweet Basil with Stir Fried chili, garlic, bell pepper, onion and sweet basil was a huge hit.We ordered both the sweet basil and the yellow curry with lots of veggies and tofu. This place is solid. Value for money. Fast friendly service. And while not the very best Thai of your life, it’s good enough to satisfy your cravings.“
“This clean simple Thai restaurant has a nice lunch special that includes soup, spring rolls and a main dish. I had the Panang curry dish with tofu and another day I had the pumpkin curry and it was divine. I waddled out full with a toothpick in my mouth.“
“l've been coming to Pagan for years and it's time for a review. The food there is delicious and tastes authentic from what I can tell. Also the prices are totally reasonable for the quality food they serve. Plus, the service is great. The young guy server was attentive and made sure everything was just right. The vibe is right with nice Burmese decor. It's one of those places where you feel like you're supporting a local family business, and that just makes the whole experience better. Everyone there works so hard, and it definitely shows. So if you're looking for delicious Burmese food, great service, and a place where you'll actually want to leave a tip because you know it's going straight to the hardworking folks behind the scenes, I recommend Pagan.“
“What a surprise! If you have lived in Thailand or traveled there extensively and know Thai food well, go straight to the back page. (Thai only, with Latin and Thai script.) If you’re not an expert and order from that page anyway, please don’t complain if what shows up seems a little strange, too spicy ow whatever. It’s made the way it’s supposed to be. Don’t ruin it for the rest of us by complaining and giving them the incentive to Americanize it, like the Thai food you get most places. There is a definite homeless presence in the neighborhood, but don’t worry about taking Muni and walking around. Just watch your step, move steadily towards your destination, and mind your own business. You should be perfectly fine.Parking: Like anywhere in SF, park at your own risk. Don’t leave anything at all in the car. With nothing in the car, you’ll probably be OK. But you can never know.“
“Great spot for Burmese food. I love when places already list what is gluten free so it's easy to order (especially helpful for takeout) only ordered 3 dishes. We will definitely be back for the other gf dishesDietary restrictions: Great for gluten free options“
“We absolutely loved our experience at this little eclectic bistro on quiet Commercial Street.Although you may be sat really close to a stranger, it's fine, you can be friends soon and once your food comes that's all that matters. We had the traditional and florentine bennies. Ham was freshly carved and the lox was thinly sliced and super yummy. Of the two, I preferred the smoked salmon, but they were both delicious.Best thing was the house potatoes, a medley of white potato, yams, and purple sweet potato. Parboiled and then fried. I could eat an entire plate of this!It had a steady stream of people, they turned the tables quickly, but it didn't feel rushed. Definitely will return next time we are in SF!“
“I had an incredible experience at this Thai restaurant! The food is authentically delicious, and the cozy ambiance creates a fantastic vibe. Each dish is not only comforting but also reasonably priced, offering generous portions. Highly recommend for an enjoyable dining experience!“
“A cozy Thai place with absolutely delicious food and fantastic service.Since the food is halal, we could try some dishes we normally don't get, and man were they good.If you're seeing this review, take it as a sign to try this place!Side note: How were the chicken wings so good?Dietary restrictions: Halal available“
“Hands down best Thai restaurant I've ever been to. My husband and I were looking for something to eat before a show at the Orpheum and stumbled upon this place. I had the red pumpkin curry which was unreal. It came with rice but honestly, I was just drinking the broth it was so flavorful. My husband was very pleased with his Pad Thai. The owner is so sweet and friendly and chatted with everyone. The atmosphere is so nice. A truly lovely restaurant that we have now determined will be our go to place before future shows as the location is so convenient and the food so good.“
“Food: 4-5/5Ambiance: Nice Ordered the Khao Soi, Mhoo Palo, and the Angry Basa. I was pleasantly surprised with the basa and it was probably my favorite dish. It's a softer breading with a good blend of flavors from garnishes. It wasn't a blow your mind first bite, but it was that comfort food "mmmm" taste to me. The Khao Soi is exactly how it should be. The Mhoo Palo is similar to Chinese "hong shao rou" and while it was quite good, I probably wouldn't order again.Value-wise, the menu is priced similar to other Thai restaurants in SF in the same tier of quality.Would come back again to try more dishes. I had a pleasant first experience.“
“I like how you can customize dish for vegetarians like me. For lunch, I got red curry with Thai iced tea and it was amazing in taste. I asked for medium spice which was perfect for me. The quantity was decent too. Red curry comes with rice and noodles so make sure you don't order sticky rice unless you want more!Vegetarian options: They can customize it for vegetarians“
“For the most part, I love Ben Thai! Both dining in and their delivery are very good. Our pad see ew came with the wrong noodles tonight though. I assume they ran out of the thick noodles, but it really made the dish drastically different. I wish the dish was unavailable // not orderable if the right noodles are available.“
“Big fan of Hainan chicken - and the place is good. I can’t explain why it felt a little greasy… it’s a poached chicken, but there was something different in how they made.Would I come again - maybe. Is it the best hainan in the city, yes.“
“I had been looking forward to trying Hed Verythai for a few months after reading about it from a local food critic. I was able to attend a special pop-up preview menu of Hed 11, a new restaurant concept inside the Kimpton Hotel in Japantown coming soon. With 11 courses, there was a wide variety of dishes with a general foundation in Thai cuisine, but incorporating Japanese and French touches such as breading and caviar.Right from the start, the oysters on a half shell had a crispy garnish with slivers of red pepper, which provided a good amount of kick. They were clean, cool and flavorful. I have to say that my favorite was the crisp catfish salad with green mango. The catfish was only incorporated in the flavor of the crispy mound without the texture, which was very interesting. The beef curry with Thai pepper was also a favorite of my group. The rest of the menu is below.Welcome SetIn-house Thai style herbal infused whiskey withThai style spicy oysterAmuse-boucheNorthern beef curry puffHamachi spicy salad with Thai herbsThai coconut pancake with Greece reserve CaviarSingle PlateGrilled Hokkaido Scallop coconut curry noodle with Thai herbsMainSouthern style beef curry with Thai pepper | Chicken curry with young bananaCabbage with fish sauce and crispy cracklingCrab chili paste and seasonal vegetableCrispy catfish salad with green mangoThai Jasmine Rice | Brown Rice | RiceberryThai-style Herbal DrinksLemongrass | Jasmine | White tea leaveSweetThai custard cheesecake and local fruitsParking: I was extremely lucky to find a spot in a loading zone that was free after 6pm. “Dear Diary - a friend recommended this place as I was a visiting member. I'm very glad that they recommended this place. The only thing I would say is that their dishes aren't as spicy as I'm used to getting back home, but the flavor is amazing! I wanted to try everything! I know I'll have more trips over here and will definitely try different things on the menu next time!“
“place was a little cold and empty on a Sunday but glad they stay open with so little business. food was good. still think it is more like the way thai should be normally not an exception, bay area accepts too much marginal thai, but it is good. got one of the fishes, lots of taste.“
“Cozy, petite Thai eatery on Lombard, designed to evoke a manicured side street in Bangkok.Tom Kha Soup, a coconut milk broth wonderfully fragrant from lemongrass, kaffir lime leaf, galangal and chili — perfect with a side of rice noodles dipped in.While tasty, the price point seems to reflect more the neighborhood than the kitchen’s unique ability. Nothing far from the classic standard.“
“Been coming to this Marnee since the 1980s and it remains a great, authentic place to enjoy traditional and unique Thai food made by a great family. The interior hasn’t changed much and has pictures of the owners and their travels and the people that they’ve met along the way. The service is very attentive and the food comes out fairly fast. We recently ordered to go and food was ready in less than 10 minutes! The traditional dishes like pad thai and Tom yum soup have a great depth of flavor (it’s all in the sauces and seasonings!) that I have not had at any other place. The corn cakes are so good! The curries and stir fried dishes like chicken and mint and sweet and sour tofu are sublime. I recommend this to anyone looking for great Thai food. This restaurant has been around for decades for a reason! Thank you Marnee!“
“The noodles were fresh, and the broth was nicely flavored. There are various spice level and you can add extra spices if needed. The pan fried buns were juicy. Not sure if they are made in house or not (if they are, they are indeed very good). The Chick wing skewers were cummin flavor so different from most other wings. They give you sour plum juice and it is nice to have after the spicy broth.“
“Great food place. We have been coming here for the last 5 years. Love the service. This time, we had to go. This time, we ordered pad Thai with shrimp, pad see you with pork, pumpkin curry with chicken and shrimp tum yum gum. Apologize for the spelling.Pad Thai is a little on the sweet side. My son loved it. Pad see you is pretty good, love that heat flavor and not too greasy. The soup was pretty good. However, this time they forgot tomatoes in the soup. Curry pumpkin is a must have dish. Overall, food still good either eat in or togo.“
“Incredible massaman curry! It's absolutely delicious. The meat was fall apart tender, the potatoes were perfectly cooked, the rice was perfect and not at all dry. The flavors and spice were absolutely on point. I can't wait to eat it again!!“
“Not busy. Quick service. Simple menu. Chicken was good tasty and crispy. Sauces are flavorful. Rice was cooked well too.Their food certainly lived up to this restaurants name! (Would've been crazy if not). They have more than just simple chicken and rice on their menu actually so I kinda wanna come back more and try out everything. Yay seemed decently fairly priced too I think.“
“A San Francisco favorite for Thai food! The curries are thick and rich. The texture and flavor of the noodles are spot on! The prices are very affordable and just an all around solid take out spot or easy to find a table for a casual experience.“
“Just had the Kha Soi, Mushroom Salad and Coconut Balls. It's rare to find Northen Thai staples like Kha Soi in San Francisco, its flavor dense and complex. I believe it's their specialty. It paired well with the Mushroom Salad. The coconut balls were the perfect finish to our meal. We'll be back.“
“They just don’t make em like this anymore. This place has been around for 50~ years, and is incredibly well decorated. There are wooden carvings everywhere, and you have to take your shoes off upon entering. It’s so nice that you want to preserve it though, so it’s okay. The food and service were top notch. Always had plenty of water. Would certainly recommend to anyone!Vegetarian options: Plenty of noodle and other dishes that can be made vegetarian.“
“One of our favorite Thai restaurants! They have the best Tom Ka Gai soup. The Pad See Ew is super flavorful, we always get the vegetarian option. Yellow curry is great too. They have a nice rice plate lunch special too. Nice atmosphere, good service, and super clean and easy parking.“
“Great food and value for money! We ordered a pad Thai and a pad sew, good portion and really tasty. The noodles were perfectly cooked and the sauce flavourful. Both dishes were at only $12 for a significant portion.Service was quick and nice.Would definitely go back for a quick and tasty lunch.“
“The food is absolutely fantastic. Great selection, good portion sizes and we really liked that there were so many options to meet our dietary requirements. The staff was very nice, accommodating to our requests (mostly around dietary restrictions) and very attentive. Well priced and an all around lovely atmosphere. We'll definitely be back“
“Great place to have incredible bowls of soup and much more. The waiters are helpful and friendly. Food tastes great. My favorite is silver glass Tom Yum soup and they know how I like it. Cannot go wrong with this place. And it is open every day.“
“Finally not overly sweet thai place! Friend of mine recommended as one of the authentic thai places to check out in the city. Their thai tea was not overly sweet! Kao mun gai was so juicy and healthy. It might be not as interesting amongst super strong flavors, but fish sauce with spicy kick brought some colors to it. Many of entrees were unfamiliar, I wish to come back to try some more!“
