“We went for the summer restaurant week. You get a cold and a hot appetizer, assortment of sushi and a dessert. We opted for the soft shell crab and shabu shabu ramen, both were delicious and served hot out of the kitchen. Sushi is top quality and decadent of course. Hojicha pudding is uniquely toasty and silky.

Not all RW deals are worth going, but I’d recommend the selection at sushi taro for the quality and the value of the food.”

“Wow! Probably one of my new favorite spots in DC! Literally everything we tried was phenomenal - and I think these are the best fries I've had in DC! I got Madam VP Heritage, and my husband got the Mumbai Mariachi. Our kids got the Classique Grilled Cheese, which was delicious (I want to know what bread they used) and perfectly balanced with the ham and Swiss. We finished our meal with the alfajores, which I didn't get a photo of because we gobbled them up. But I was incredibly impressed with the food and service. Reasonably priced (especially for where it's located), bright and airy. It is a bit small, so it would be difficult to accommodate a large group, but there's plenty of seating, and there were several folks here reading and just hanging out on a Friday mid day. I can't recommend this spot enough - as a gastroadvocacy spot, it was already intriguing enough, and the diverse (and changing) menu is exceptionally executed! Excited to come back and try more things on the menu - with a side of fries!

Vegetarian options: There are very clearly labeled vegetarian and vegan options. It's not an extensive selection, but they are delicious!

Parking: It's definitely in a difficult area to find parking since it's in the heart of the city and close to many tourist attractions.

Kid-friendliness: There is no kids menu, but it's reasonably kid friendly otherwise. Our kids really enjoyed the grilled cheese and fries and cookies. May not be suitable for children who are very picky.”

“Albi is exceptional! Such a great evening with amazing food. The only, and very small, issue we had was the volume in the restaurant. We had a hard time hearing the server a few times. Nonetheless the food was fantastic and the wine pairing really topped the evening off.”

They surprised us with a beautifully handwritten anniversary card—a thoughtful and personal touch that set the tone for the evening. As if that weren’t enough, they also treated us to celebratory drinks, both at the start and the end of our meal. It was a heartwarming gesture that made us feel incredibly valued as guests.

The food was an exquisite journey through modern Korean flavors. We started with the Half Chikin, perfectly crispy and tender, followed by Sogogi Mandu, which was bursting with flavor. The Seoul Fashioned cocktails were expertly crafted, providing the ideal balance of flavors to complement each dish. The Set of Three offered a delightful variety, while the Dolsot Bibim Bap was comforting and satisfying, bringing all the traditional flavors of Korea with a refined twist. The Ssam Board was a highlight, allowing us to create our own bites, each one as flavorful as the last. The Ori Jjajangmyeon and Jujube Sticky Toffee Pudding were both standouts, adding a unique and delicious twist to familiar Korean flavors.

Anju’s ambiance, attentive service, and culinary creativity made for a perfect evening. We can’t recommend this place enough for anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience, especially for special occasions. Anju, thank you for making our anniversary unforgettable!”

“Some fantastic and clever vegan options taking influence from a variety of global cooking styles while painstakingly limiting to locally sourced ingredients. Service was incredible, and the atmosphere was surprisingly casual. Some particularly strong mushroom options and one oyster on offer for those wanting it. Maybe bc it was winter, I found the menu very homey and hardy without an over reliance on showmanship or crazy techniques and processes - at least in comparison to a lot of modern fine dining.”

“There was a reason why I was anticipating to go to Dōgon... It was too good!
I was excited to finally snag a reservation for myself and my significant other. Reservations are highly recommended if you want to avoid a long wait. When we arrived for our reservation, we received a warm welcome and we were escorted to a lounge area as our table wasn't ready. The lounge was intimate, plus there was a cocktail menu. We were able to start off with drinks first. We were here for about 15-20 minutes before being seated.

Once we arrived to our table, our server was pleasant and knowledgeable of the entire menu in detail. We shared the cornbread, hoe crab and fried whitting sliders to start---chef's kiss. I then enjoyed the oxtail dish that came with a side of rice peas. This dish was so flavorful! Lastly, we finished off with the rum cake which had a perfect balance of sweet and savory. I loved my experience and can't wait to go back!”

“We had an early dinner before attending a performance at the Ford’s Theater. We made reservations through Open Table and were immediately seated upon arrival. The service was great. Our server recommended several dishes that we loved. There were abundant vegan and vegetarian options. Chilorio de Res tacos were mouthwatering as were the Hongos en Milto ones. In fact, every dish we ordered was delicious. One dish (chilaquiles) never arrived from the kitchen but we were pressed for time so we opted to have it taken off our bill instead of waiting for them to prepare it separately. Dessert, Cafe de Olla, was phenomenal. Pics are only some of the items we tried. Great atmosphere for date night and a milestone birthday celebration. Highly recommend.”

“Went there to celebrate my birthday. Sushi was very fresh and perfectly prepared. The slices were excellent, which made the fish delicate, tender and without too much dark pieces which have more fishy taste, no tendons/skin/muscle to make it difficult to chew. It was a delightful experience! The amount of different fish/seafood species was surprising. A special place to go to celebrate, if you love sushi. We paired it with a nice bottle of Italian Sparkling, which was an excellent recommendation by our server.”

I worked for pizza hut at the time and the second time I bought a Hunt Brothers pizza I told the clerks at the store the pizza to me is better than Pizza Hut. then I seen the sign in the window and found out Hunt Brothers has breakfast pizza and it's been a little over four years now and Hunt Brothers pizza is all I buy. what I love is taste, quality, price and fact the toppings don't cost extra. keep up the good work and keep the customers happy. Tbh the sub with extra meat can get a little dry, but the sweet onion teriyaki really gives it a kick.

“First visit; I went for Restaurant Week. I ordered the chicken corn chowder, the short rib ravioli and the caramel cheesecake. The chowder was excellent, a great balance of corn and chicken and a goodly amount--but not too much--pepper. I loved it...and a very generous portion! The ravioli was super too--cooked to perfection, stuffed to capacity with cheese, accompanied by a nice hunk of well-seasoned and -cooked short rib. I wasn't able to finish it, so I took some home. I took the cheesecake home too and ate it after a couple of conf calls. Just the right amount of caramel with a couple of strawberries and a creme Anglaise sauce. Scrumptious!! I don't remember many occasions when I've loved all three courses of a meal, but that was certainly the case tonight. I can't wait to go back.”

The all-white anteroom acts as a physical palette cleanser, separating you from the world outside and setting the stage for a journey of culinary wonder. You and your ten fellow diners (soon to be friends) are welcomed into a space where food becomes theater. To describe any individual dish would spoil the magic, but know that each course--arriving as a meticulously crafted bite or two--showcases extraordinary precision and creativity. The timing and choreography are more akin to poetry and ballet than a typical kitchen. For fans of shows like The Bear or Hell's Kitchen, this is a glimpse of what a professional kitchen can achieve at its best--no panic, no yelling, just chefs focused on elevating food to its highest form. Throughout the evening, a gracious team guides you, making sure you feel genuinely appreciated. The chefs encourage questions about the dishes, their construction, and the inspiration behind them. Even when my curiosity led me to ask question after question, their patience and enthusiasm never waned. Despite the attention to detail, there is no sense of pretentiousness here. “I must admit that it was simple, dumb luck that I made a reservation to dine here about 2 weeks before they were awarded a Michelin Star. I also admit I initially hesitated because of the price; however, if you can swing it, the food and the experience are well worth it. This is a chic-casual, modern, upscale restaurant that serves some of the most unusual and creative cuisine I have had in the U.S. The space is hipster chic and there are masses of staff to see to your every need. [NOTE: they describe the food as "vegetable forward" and without "animal products" rather than "vegan" on their website.] Because it is a set menu and others had already posted nice photos of each course, I only posted one of my mocktail - which was delightful. Sophisticated and not the typical sugar-bomb offering. The focus is on Latin American-inspired food, and each course is accompanied with a simple back-story, delivered by the server. A very clever way to impart some of the historical and cultural context to their quest. My advice is - GO!”

Guacamole was tasty but it wasn't until I built the perfect bite with the braised lamb neck did I appreciate the understatement of its balance. My friend very much enjoyed her Octopus, she got crispy she'll to accompany her dish.

The bunuelo was a nice finish, but there was the option of flan w/chocolate. The flan was good but had bitters from dark chocolate that gave the taste of espresso.

I would not dine here again personally, but it makes for a really nice backdrop of a lovely dinner.

Vegetarian options: Seafood allergy, a lot of possible cross contamination, limits your choices. However the choices are still very delicious.”

“When I think omakase, I think sushi. Kappo was wagyu omakase, so I didn’t know what to expect exactly. The wagyu was beyond delicious like melt in your mouth delicious. I added the sake pairing and it did not disappoint! The space was intimate with about ten bar seats and three tables of 4. Chef Ogawa was there showing us the cut of wagyu. The course took around 2.5 hours.”

“Many people have described this place as the best pizza in DC. While it is good and definitely has that classic NYC style, it was not five star pizza. I got the Classic Pepperoni signature pizza with burrata and hot honey - very tasty.

I got it for takeout which may have also contributed to quality of the pie. A really nice touch was that they put the buratta and hot honey on the side, which kept the pizza crispier while I brought it home.

I hope to try a fresh slice at the restaurant someday soon. They have lots of selection between their own creations and the classics. If you are in DC and craving pizza, give them a try!

It was not too sweet at all. Full of flavor , crispy on the outside and chewie on the inside. Interesting array of flavors, amazing texture and mouthfeel, and I love that this place is not afraid to get adventurous with flavors. Black Sesame--yum! At the same time, their most simple, traditional flavors are among my favorites--Strawberry and Cookies and Cream are absolutely delightful. I appreciate that this place continues to keep their prices very reasonable, especially given how crazy expensive food has gotten in 2024. The staff is helpful and kind and I love supporting this anchoring neighborhood spot! A favorite weekly tradition!”

“I visited this place awhile ago and there is something very special about this place. i had catfish with fries and it was very fresh and not greasy at all. I had a brief conversation with owner and i was told they used very high level oil to fry the food. They definitely care about the quality of the food more than anything. “The location is absolutely beautiful, right on the water and just outside is the ice skating rink. You have to get the beignets, they are a little like a cross between a popover and beignet. The best I’ve ever had. They are served with three sauces.
I had the yogurt with berries and granola, a generous portion and the berries were so fresh and perfectly ripe. The French Toast was crispy on the outside and light and fluffy inside. Not too sweet.
Olivia was our server and she was outstanding! Very friendly, helpful with menu suggestions and attentive to our needs.
My only complaint, the coffee wasn’t hot, it was just warm. I did like the cup and saucer it was served it.”

I’ve been around the world and ate at a lot of Hard Rocks while in the Navy from Bahrain, to Singapore to Hawaii, Foxwoods Connecticut,Las Vegas, and even more and this was an AMAZING EXPERINCE! “Visited Philippe's this past Saturday night and was immediately greeted with such warmth. Andrea made my old fashion to perfection and she was willing to help with anything we needed. We didn't want much to eat so we just got the calamari 9/10, the veggie lettuce wrap 9/10 and the beef lettuce wrap 10/10. When Andrea left for the night, Ponce picked up right where she left off and took great care of us. We later sparked a conversation of the manager George and Sadi, who were both very welcoming. I look forward to more late nights, happy hours and dinners with the girls here at Philippe's at the Wharf!”

Explained the restaurant’s approach, menu, and fun facts plus chatted with me appropriately throughout the dinner. Their happy hour is unparalleled and I got a decent rum punch cocktail (not pre-made) with 12 delicious oysters, a hamachi crudo (that was wildly on point), and jumbo raw shrimp for well under $100. Couldn’t recommend this spot enough and will return.”

“I used to love Life Alive in Boston so I was very excited to try it out in DC. I appreciate the healthier food options and I’m still planning on coming back to try more dishes. The most disappointing was that we ordered the Udon and Ramen dishes, specifically asking for “extra hot” temperatures. When then arrived, the soil and sea ramen was so cold that it tasted like someone forgot to heat up the noodles or the broth midway. When I brought this up to the food runner, he said the chef told him to relay it’ll be extra 20 minutes just to get it hotter. He came back with the same bowl we handed over maybe 10 min later, and said that was the hottest they could make it. It was lukewarm at best, and had they communicated it wasn’t possible to make the dish hot, I wouldn’t have ordered it.

The mushroom shawarma warm bowl was the best of the three dishes. I added the tofu for added protein, and it paired well.

The coffee drinks were very yummy and actually served at appropriate temperatures. Unfortunate that we can’t adjust the sweetness levels, because that leaves no option for those who want to watch their sugar intake.”

“Pretty new place, ambiance seems a little forced but hear good things about the secret bar in the back. Only had the tacos Al Pastor/ they were ready very quick, flavor was ok. Very skimpy on the cilantro. The sauce, some type is aioli was non traditional but ok- the texture the sauce added wasn’t great. Very oniony - didn’t taste any pineapple. Reasonable for the price.”
