“This is true Japan. Real Japan. A modest restaurant of the highest quality. A small space on a side street. This is authentic Japan. There are two tables and a counter - 12 seats total. The chefs are right there. The server too, all are soft spoken and focused on their craft. The food is... The food is... The food is so good. So, so good. The sashimi melted, balanced with the spicy thing. The mazeman incredible, full of umami and flavor. The ramen healed my soul :)Do me a favor if you go... Eat, enjoy and leave. Be efficient... Be respectful. Be Japanese. It's a small space, they're too nice to move you along, but c'mon, allow them to serve more people and make more money“
“My favorite ramen joint in New York! Go here on a jazz night if you can, because the ambience with the artists is even more incredible. This is my 3rd time here, and while everything is great, I’d specifically recommend: spicy ramen, spicy tsukemen, oysters mp, and mango kakigori. Between the freshly made noodles and flavorful broths, all of the noodle dishes are the perfect cozy meal. I was pleasantly surprised by the oysters, which came with a yuzu mint vinaigrette that added a bright vibrancy to each oyster. Don’t shy away from getting dessert the end! The shaved ice is a great way to end on a refreshing note without feeling bogged down by sugar. Note that this place fills up quick, so reserve in advance or come early to beat the wait. Follow me on ig @chloenicholle for more nyc food reviews!“
“Giving it a 4 stars because the effort and intent was there, but the Miso ramen was unfortunately too rich for my tastes and I couldn't finish the broth, although the wavy noodles were perfect, very Q. The Karaage was some of the best I've ever had - it came out quickly and straight out of the fryer and it was melting in my mouth. One waitress was working the whole restaurant and was doing a fantastic job. 5 star service for sure.“
“Whoever said this place is a hidden gem was right. I went early to avoid the happy hour rush. That said you get a discount from 4-7pm so if you’re not picky on seating that’s when I recommend paying a visit. Attached is the photos of what I ordered.“
“Came here with a friend around 5:30PM on a Saturday and it was pretty packed. We ordered the Maesil Collins and Strawberry Fields cocktails--both were sweet and delicious. We also ordered the Chicken Karaage, Halmoni Mandu, Wild Mushroom Pajeon, Salmon Jang, Sesame Ice Cream, and Persimmon Ice Cream special. The highlight was definitely the ice cream! The chicken and mandu were really good but the ice cream!! I'm personally not a big fan of sesame but the gochujang caramel swirl intrigued me and the server recommended it so we decided to try it & it tasted absolutely amazing!!! The gochujang caramel was sweet with a tiny kick and it went so well with the sesame. Life changing!! The persimmon ice cream was also amazing with the crumble and persimmon bits, it was light and refreshing!! 10/10 would recommend ordering the chicken, mandu, and definitely the ice cream! I'll be coming back again!“
“Amazing little ramen spot on smith st. The place is super cozy and the staff is friendly and very attentive.Besides ramen, they do serve delicious dumplings. Each order consists of 5 dumplings with chef’s special sauce. There are 5 different sauces available and each one will hit your pallet in a different way.Restaurant has a limited selection of alcoholic including a handful of craft beers.Give this place a try next time you are in the area.“
“The food was very fresh delicious and served with wonderful presentation. All the raw sushi/sashimi tasted fresh. I liked that the bbq squid was tender and not tough like other places I've tried. My family came here to celebrate my brother's birthday and it was a nice, quiet place on a weekday night. Thank you for the complimentary butterfly sushi dish and dessert!“
“This place has a relaxing setting and good service. The food is exceptionally amazing. This has become one of my favorite places in the area to go eat now. If you're looking for a low key place for a night out with your partner or a place to take a date this is a good place to go.“
“The quality of broth is great, and always consistent but lately the Chachu pork slices have been getting smaller and smaller . This time I realize it wasn’t only smaller in size but thinner and fattier .. the fat was almost 50% of both pieces . This is unacceptable and disappointing.“
“RATING: 7.1/10 My friend who goes here regularly told me that if I was in Greenpoint I should check it out - while it's not necessarily a destination spot, it is surprisingly good for being "just a neighborhood spot." Since I was spending all day eatin gin Greenpoint anyway, I decided to give it a shot CLASSIC SHOYU Ok, so I will say that that yes the broth is better than you might expect from a regular ramen place but not quite meeting standards of "you GOT to come to greenpoint to try this place." However, if you live here or in a neighboring area, DO order out when want ramen. The noodles though are really great quality and have a perfect chew, with wavy shape which is my preference. The meat is nice and salty. If I'm back in the neighborhood, I would definitely come back!“
“For Japanese ramen in Brooklyn this is the spot. Going along, going with friends, this place is a fast casual meal under 1 hr. Recommend getting the standard ramen, if you feeling hungry get the set with extra toppings to ensure you leave feeling full.Pro tip if you want to drink the soup, make the broth lower richness and less spicy.Noodles were cooked to my expectations and the pork was thinly sliced and brought a lot of flavors. No tipping establishment is great, bathroom clean, staff friendly, you prepay before you get seated.“
“My favorite thing about this spot is that they filter and purify their water themselves which is an amazing feat to flex!I came in on a Friday afternoon (6:30pm) with a friend. A little stuffy but it's also the vibe of the spot and very Brooklyn lol. We didn't have to wait for a seat so that was golddden. It has the perfect amount of seats because although it gets filled with not too many people you can still carry a conversation comfortably. The food. I got the tonbara miso ramen, it was pretty good. The noodles were on point and I really like the ear mushrooms they used and the corn. The only cons was the one slide of chachu and the half of a soft boiled egg was hard boiled.4/5!“
“I got the pork soup dumplings and the steamed pork buns. Pork buns (3 pieces) are generous portions and super pillowy. Soup dumplings (5 pieces) are really great. Both served piping hot, which I love. Also, they're very, very friendly in there. I'm so happy to know this place is here, but also so mad at myself for not going sooner. My order came to around $20, I think, which I believe is fair. I didn't leave hungry, either. Would recommend, and will definitely go back.“
“let me start with place itself the atmosphere is super nice ,the colors and the graphics are a mix between traditional and modern. food : we tried first 4 items on the menu they were super great we loved them tostada's was my favorite also we had their home made dessert. very very good . staff : that's another topic . Ive been in so many restaurants in many states . there are alot of good a great servers but like our server last night we never had . he is so educated about the menu and the way he explained the food made it more delicious. very polite person. I'm very bad with remembering names but my next visit I'm going to update the post . we are as halal meat eater so happy and thankful for this establishment“
“We have been going here for years. Now it is part of our week we have dinner there. The staff which has been so loyal and consistent are lovely, the owner is lovely, so happy this place and these people are right in walking distance to my house. Now the food, it is so tasty and fresh, just yum. <3“
“Woooowwwww when they said the best ramen in BK, they really didn't disappoint. This is the best ramen I ever had ??? The portion is sooo much. They really give you so much cha-su and the egg noodles are so delicious. The noodles tasted like they have seasoning on it. It was such a rich and creamy ramen. I will be coming back for more ??“
“This place is good. It's a small mom and pops shop in bay ridge, so the service is very nice. The food feels warm and like home cooked so that's a plus. No complaints here, it's just good. Would come here again because everything is fresh and homemade. Definitely will still be supporting this place.“
“Really amazing happy hour! I got the edamame which was so savory and delicious and the karaage chicken. The chicken was pretty spicy so I wouldn’t recommend if you are sensitive to spicy food. The restaurant is rather small but we didn’t have problems getting a table on a Wednesday night. The servers were very attentive and made sure our drinks stayed full.“
“Overall rating: 4.5I didn’t realize this was a chain when I visited. Clean area and nice service. Not a place to sit down, but rather to go. I had the Szechuan braised beef and it is SPICY. I wasn’t prepared how spicy. On the first day, the broth just tasted like hot water. It was missing the flavor or fullness of broth. But on the second day, I added some soy and a few other Asian spices & it got so much better. Surprisingly day 2 was better than day 1. I could come back to try another, less spicy dish, if I’m in the area.Definitely more a lunch to-go spot, than anything else. Recommend giving it a try.“
“Delicious, really hit the spot!!!Pretty affordable for what you get. Generous portions. The pork is amazingly thick and succulent. The service was excellent, shoutout to the young lady at the bar whose bubbly personality made my night. Thanks and will be back ?“
“I don’t go to Brooklyn very much but my daughter and I lucked out when we found this place. The food was terrific and the prices were as well. The staff was welcoming and attentive. It has a great vibe. I might find my way to Bushwick more often just to go back. Highly recommended.“
“Partner and I went this weekend and it was some of the most delicious tacos we have ever had. We really recommend the salmon and fried chicken tacos! We had our dog with us so the outside seating was a giant plus :) partner said the atmosphere inside was amazing and that he’d really like to go back! We ordered it to go and they thought ahead and separated the taco filling from the tortilla to prevent them from getting soggy- so genius. Thank you!“
“This is so far my favorite spot in the neighborhood. We have so many dates with my husband here, which is a cozy and beautiful place to sit and enjoy your meal.We also love the server. She is very nice every time we visit.Beyond the atmosphere of the place, the food is fantastic. I am in love with the new Beyond the Hell Ramen! And I have to say, this is the best vegan sushi I've eaten in the city so far! This place is affordable, warm, and delicious! 100% recommendVegetarian options: All the vegan options are well prepared and delicious!“
“I couldn't come leave this review fast enough. I don't know what kind of magic they used for their vegetarian chicken, but it is so convincing that I had to have my roommate try it to confirm it wasn't the real thing. The bowl was gigantic, I'm fully stuffed with vegetables and they have all my favorites and a big variety. Delivery arrived much earlier than expected, but I would've waited two hours for how good my poke bowl was. Instantly added to favorites and I can't wait to order againVegetarian options: Vegetarian chicken, tofu, nearly every topping is some kind vegetable“
“That's the one solid Japanese restaurant in my neighborhood. They have a good vibes and have amazing homemade Japanese meals. The bowl has brown rice and fresh protein. I really liked Katsu curry here. If you miss Japanese Katsu curry, you must try it. That'll be full filled you ;)“
“Walked in around 7pm on a Sunday and got seated right away. Ordered karaage chicken and tonkotsu ramen (added roasted corn–real corn!). Tonkotsu broth was a bit subtle for my liking, the pork was tender but a little fatty, and the soft-boiled egg could’ve been more seasoned. You can ask for chili powder and/or oil to add a kick to the broth. Overall decent bowl of ramen and friendly service–would return to get my ramen fix.“
“A friend and I had dinner in the bar here on Saturday night. We started with the Korean Chicken Wings, they were perfection! I don’t know what a previous review was talking about, these did not taste old to us. Just the right amount of heat and sauce, I could eat these everyday! We then had both the Pork Belly and Ribeye Beef Buns. Both were delicious, especially the Ribeye Beef ones. We were stuffed, but we had also both ordered the Kara’age Avocado Rice Bowls - amazing! I couldn’t finish mine so I took it home and it was still delicious the next day! Tim’s cocktails were superb (try the Apple Pie Old Fashioned ❤️) and our waitperson was a delight! I just wish I lived closer so I could eat (and drink!) here more often!“
“The inside of the restaurant was very trendy and cool. I like the touch of the little anime figurines. It was kind of tacky, but funny too. The food was great though waiting for the food took a little while but it was a little busy so it's a fair amount of time I guess. The portion sizes were huge, I've never been to a Ramen shop before, so I heard it's normal, but they were ginormous to me. I really enjoyed the broth of the ramen and the drinks were really good even though I don't have a picture of them. My favorite part actually was when I took the food home and they gave such nice Tupperware containers. I know that doesn't really say a lot about the restaurant, but the Tupperware containers were so nice. Especially if you take home ramen; the bowls, oh my god, so pretty.“
“If you're looking for really good sushi, go here! The fish was amazing and VERY well priced for NYC. All of the sushi we got (nigiri, sashimi, and rolls) were amazing. The edamame had a good amount of salt and was hot. The udon noodles with chicken however was a bit oily for our taste. I would stick to sushi from here, but highly recommend!“
“the food they have is a 9.5/10 their service there is the best! it was snowing when we went in, surprisingly, they didn’t kick us out like how another restaurant owner did ‘cause that we needed to stay so long. they’re also very trustable. we left our stuff there for a while and came back, our stuff was not touched at all.“
“DELICIOUS. i love this place. the best prices for great sushi ive ever seen. sweet potato rolls are amazing. spicy salmon rolls are amazing. poke bowls here slap. the service is kind and the food is at an unbeatable price. i go here all the time and never leave without a smile on my face and a full stomach. the music is a little strange but its hard to hear over the flavors swimming in my skull.“
“Best ramen in Williamsburg, and I’ve tried them all. Perfect broth, perfect chashu, authentic recipes, outstanding service. Replicates the Osaka experience - you’ll feel like you’re eating at a hereditary family shop that’s been perfecting their ramen for hundreds of years.“
“The inside is the perfect vibe you want for a ramen restaurant. Warm, cozy, welcoming and down to earthThe ramen is good and dependableThere’s only ~6 tables inside and ~8 outside so you may have to wait but they can seat you pretty quick!Reasonably priced“
“If I could give this place more stars I would. The food is fantastic and so fresh. The wait staff are so incredibly friendly and welcoming. The best ramen/Japanese bbq in the neighborhood. Oh, and they have pool on the second floor. So good! 100/10 recommend.“
“Kyuramen Park Slope is a ramen lover's paradise! Their bowls are consistently flavorful and satisfying, with rich broths and perfectly cooked noodles. The menu offers a variety of options to suit every taste, from classic tonkotsu to inventive vegan ramen. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the cozy atmosphere makes it the perfect spot for a comforting meal. I highly recommend Kyuramen to anyone craving a delicious bowl of noodles!“
“Setagaya is a hidden gem in Williamsburg. If you like ramen, you will not wanna miss it. I found it randomly and was so surprised by the ramen quality and the cozy environment. The restaurant is not big and there are around ten tables for dining in. The server is gentle and nice and would cover every detail during the serving. She was so experienced and as if knew everything you needed while having the ramen. This restaurant doesn't provide dessert if I correctly remember.I ordered Chashu ramen, dipping ramen, tofu salad, and avocado salad. Chashu ramen contains mushrooms which makes the broth super tasty and fresh. Dipping ramen is amazing with its rich and tasty dipping broth. Every noodle will be covered by the dipping broth and becomes very yummy and in a rich flavor. One bowl with a salad is a very recommended combo I would like to mention. If you don't like salad, a draft beer can be a perfect alternative.Cold Tofu salad is very refreshing, and the side of pickled cucumber is impressive. It balances the taste and flavor so well. Avocado Salad is 10/10 for me. The lettuce and avocado combined with Japanese salad sauce are so fresh and increase my appetizer a lot.“
“Let's start with the bad... don't worry, there's only 1 and I'm still giving you 5 stars. Dolsot bibambop was meh, a bit watery for a rice dish and no crunchy bottom. The awesome... all the rest! We enjoyed your proper Korean BBQ. The kalbi was FAB. I ate my heart out wrapping it in the beautiful lettuce and jigae. Spicy fried chicken, I woke up the next morning thinking about it! Seafood pancake, well fried and filled with seafood and green onions... adored! Perfect white rice, it was so hard to only have one bite of it... wanted to save room for the rest. Great service and great tunes. We found ourselves bopping/dancing in our chairs while eatting. Thank you for a wonderful Korean meal . I'm a fan!“
“I don't usually write reviews, but this place is amazing to go eat at and the ramen tastes very authentic and delicious. My personal favorite is the curry ramen and the momo dumplings. The customer service is great and the staff is very friendly. This is by far the best place to eat out in park slope. Me and my boyfriend come here every here and there and we make sure to tip well when coming here because it is well deserved. There is no other ramen place that compares to this place. If you love ramen come give this place a try.“
“Really good ramen that hits the spot. They are not sheisty with the broth like other ramen places. Hearty serving and I opted for extra charshu. Fried calamari appetizer was also delicious. Seating is tricky. Not very cozy restaurant. But if you’re looking for good ramen with a no frills vibe this is the place. Better for casual and eating alone. Not a date place as the atmosphere feels very bare bones… not in a minimal Japanese way but more in a cold cheap deli kind of way. But the ramen is ????“
“The prices have risen a lot, I wasn’t expecting that when I came here. However the ramen was good, and my group all got full without being able to finish the ramen completely so the portions are good too.Seating is available in tables of four, though if you have a larger group you can pull up a chair or head upstairs for much larger party seating.Keep in mind you have to return the bowls after you eat, they will not pick them up for you and it keeps things going smoothly. The noodles in the MT. Fuji ramen seemed a bit more thicker then the black garlic tonkatsu delux.“
“Dropped in here for some food one afternoon. Best experience ! Food and sake were amazing!I had the Aburi-Shimesaba -Highly recommend!Staff is so friendly, knowledgeable & accommodating! You have to try this spot if you’re in Brooklyn !“
“Went for lunch yesterday and tried their 3-course for 28$ lunch special, and was worth it. Taste and portion were good. Noodles were made al dente which I love, broth was rich but not salty, and sesame mochi for dessert was very creamy. The server was very hospitable, working alone (serving, waiting, etc) but never failed to smile made us feel very welcome and never rush us. He was efficient and attentive. I told my friend after we left the restaurant, this waiter should hold a seminar to waiters across NYC.I'll definitely go back and bring my friends and family ?“
“This place been here 13 years, and im now finding it. My Ramen was the small Naruto, Paired it with Tanuki sake. The meat was so tender and juicy, noodles freshly made. That Broth felt so warm in my stomach . 10 out of 10 I'm so going back to try the Pork fried rice, Fried chicken, Tekoyaki , just the rest of the menuVegetarian options: Tofu“
“Best Ramen and Japanese food I've had since I spent month in Tokyo. It's the most authentic place I've found in NYC.Get the Takowasa with a beer, or get it to go and take it next door to Redd's.The shochu(like Japanese Soju) is great as well and this is the only place I've found that even sells it. I love this place. The service is always great. Friendly, helpful, and Japanese.“
“Very Friendly service really appreciated it , takoyaki squid balls r very nice , pork belly buns r allright , seared tofus r good too , light fries tempura things r not bad , main dish Ramen's Broth I've with pork belly is really rich broth really nice , little bit on salty side, noodles r not me favorites, had yellow ramen noodles , used to like Chinese ramen , Lao Being Fein in Queens , have good noodles but broths r d best , more meat , more broth :/) honest opinion, sincerely,,“
