“Top five meals of my life. Sat at the bar and Bryan spent a lot of time with me going over the menu and wines which I could order by the glass. Let me sample the wines as well. I had five small plates and four glasses of wine. Some of these were absolutely exquisite, specifically the mushrooms. They made rapini taste good. Do you have any idea how difficult that is? “Had to try the iconic Joe Beef while in Montreal. Made resos well ahead to make sure we got the time slot desired. We were shown to our table. The dining area is sneaky large as there are lots of tables in various areas around the restaurant and also a bar counter area. The tables are very close together so it feels tight and gets very noisy as the restaurant is full.

Our server, Julien, did a great job in explaining the menu and offered up good choices in wine pairings for the food. We chose the beef tartar with bone marrow toast, smoked meat terrine, duck breast with duck sausage, and the halibut (fish of the day), and a side of asparagus. For dessert we shared the marjolaine cake. All the dishes were nicely plated and very tasty.”

“I had really high expectations for Restaurant Monarque and was hoping it would completely blow me away. While the food was delicious, the overall experience fell just slightly short of what I would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. Service was the main area that didn’t quite meet expectations. After being seated, we waited about 10 minutes before receiving menus and had to ask for them. Throughout the meal, interactions felt a bit rushed - several staff members who stopped by the table were somewhat brief, and on a few occasions, items like bread or water were dropped off while we tried to ask questions, but the busser had already walked away. That said, the restaurant was quite busy during lunch, so it’s possible the pace and attentiveness were impacted by that. As for the food, we ordered the albacore tuna appetizer along with the strip loin, butcher’s cut, and duck for our mains. Everything was well-prepared, though the duck portion was noticeably small. Desserts were a highlight - especially the pavlova with maracuya, which was excellent. Our server Laura was professional, though not very engaging until the very end of the meal when we were settling the bill. I would still return, as the food is strong, but I have to say that Bar George left a more lasting impression on us in terms of both food and service.”

“Tucked away at the back of a church this restaurant is truly a hidden gem. We sat at the chefs table and were able to see all the food being prepared and ask the chefs more details about the food. We had the wine pairing menu which was excellent. Our server was very accommodating as one of the wines was not to our taste and they quickly replaced it with an excellent choice. The flavours in each course were delicious and made want to savour every bite. We will definitely be returning to Restaurant Candide again.”

J’ai commander le drink Preach’s peach pour sa composition et le magnifique verre annoncé sur le menu (flamingo). Malheureusement, le drink n’a pas été servi dans le verre tant attendu. Dans ce genre d’endroit, la présentation fait toute la différence pour justifier un cocktail à 25$. J’aurais apprécier qu’on me renseigne que le verre n’était pas disponible ce soir-là. J’aurais probablement opter vers un autre cocktail à un prix plus modeste. Ceci dit, le goût était bon. Nous ne recommandons pas les spritz sans alcool qui sont à notre goût fade et simplement amer. Un ajout de sirop simple pourrait probablement balancer l’amerture de ce drink qui est normalement délicieux avec du mousseux, bien entendu. Pour terminer, le cocktail bleu dont je ne me souvient plus le nom était le highlight de la soirée. Je retournerais au MilkyWay pour retenter l’expérience :) Au plaisir,”

“Amazing micro-brewery with a vast selection of home brewed beers. They also have some very nicely designed merch. Large indoor space, but the outdoor patio really is what sets Messorem apart. At least a dozen oicnic tables available all year long. They are located at approx 50meters from the nicest bike path in town (Canal Lachine), which makes them a must-stop during a summer bike trip. The ambiance is super friendly, and they accept kids. No reason not to go!
Only downside is they dont have table service.”

“Started last Friday’s day off with a stop at the amazing Cafe dei Campi. Fully veganized Italian pastries and small pizzas. Soups and salads too but I stuck to the Italian specialties. Hazelnut filled tortellini melt in your mouth pastries. Amarettis and Biscotti. The essential Italian cafe’s big espresso machine which makes the perfect double espresso with the layer of crema and their cappuccino with perfect foam. Accompanied with a flaky delicious cornetto, it felt like heaven. Much chatting with my friend and a necessary second cornetto and espresso completed our visit by closing time. We had lucked out with a table. Had a great rest of the day that right from the start, arriving at the cafe there was a couple with their little boy wearing a Metallica t-shirt. “My wife and I had a fantastic evening here on Friday. It has a warm atmosphere that made us want to stay much longer than we would have normally. The food was exquisite, and a good value for the quality provided. The wine list was extensive, featuring wines from several French regions, as well as some from Italy, Spain, US, and Canada. The servers were attentive, speaking French and English, and there was a sommelier on staff to help with the wine. The plates weren’t overly large, but we were quite filled after three courses, wine, and an aperitif. We are definitely coming back the next time we’re in town.”

“One of my favorite hotels ever!! Right in the heart of old Montreal, and a short walk to everything that Old Montreal has to offer. It sits on a beautiful cobblestone street, and is in an old, historic building. The rooms were beautiful, with windows that open to let in some great fresh air. I loved their little breakfast, which consisted of different breads each day, spread, cheese, and some cold pressed local juice. Just a top notch experience, and affordable too!”
