“Sandy’s never misses. The muffuletta and pickled egg sando are a favorite. We’ve been several times and the quality is always consistent and amazing. Such a brilliant idea to put chips in the egg salad sando. 12/10, can’t recommend Sandy’s enough! If I lived closer to Sandy’s I would definitely come here once a week.“
“Their sandwiches are cheap , delicious , and fulfilling. For only a couple dollars each I suggest you get a couple sandwiches because you're definitely going to want one for later . The pork sandwiches are the because but the chicken is very good too. Do your self a favor and get one of each“
“Absolutely incredible. This little sandwich shop deserves so much praise. The owner is super chill and nice. It’s very small but has cute outdoor seating. Very European, relax and enjoy kinda vibe. The sandwiches we had where the most amazing sandwiches I’ve ever tasted. Super affordable prices too, which is rare to find in the Bay Area. I will definitely be going back next time in in San Fran“
“A place on 24th St., the salvation to have a coffee, eat a good sandwich, have a beer and if you like everything Italian you will find it here! The guys are very friendly and the owner can't even speak of, I really liked it, I recommend it!“
“Deli Board is a short walk from where I live and we were craving sandwiches so we checked it out. The shop itself is just a storefront, at the moment they don't have seating. We ordered two items, the Carzle Sando and the waffle fries with Mick sauce. The Carzle sando was nothing short of phenomenal. It had different meats, Romanian pastrami and brisket. The provolone cheese melts and compliments the meats really nicely. The waffle fries were also nice and crispy, and paired really nicely with the sauce. My gripe is that it is so pricy, the Carzle is $23. But the thing is that it is so dam good that it really feels worth every penny.“
“Nice spot for sandwiches! Got the California one which was hefty and delicious. Joe formaggio was also incredible. Wait was 20 mins and they panini pressed these sandwiches so well. The outside is perfectly toasty and the inside, coupled with the melted cheese is divine. Wish the sandwiches were a little bit thicker / the bread was fluffier.“
“One of the best wine bars in the city! Totally unpretentious, incredibly welcoming, and always a good time. The menu has a few changes regularly and there's ALWAYS a fantastic and varied wine selection. You can tell that every person who works here is passionate and loves what they do, one of the true gems of North Beach.Great spot for a romantic date in the evening, perfect place to chill with friends in the afternoon. Highly recommend the tastings - especially on Wednesdays! If you get a chance to take a class DO IT! You'll learn so much!“
“Love this bakery so much, you can never go wrong with their baked goods, don’t sleep on their pizza especially the pepperoni it’s so good! Along with the great food they serve they have an even better service, they’re very welcoming and kind.“
“I ordered a small corned beef sandwich. I was expecting something like a six inch sub. instead, what I received was closer to a divided foot long. I can eat a lot, but one half of the sandwich was enough to fill me up. Moreover, the sandwich itself was so delicious that I saved half for later so I could really focus on the flavor. The food is scrumptious and at a very reasonable price. This is easily one of the best lunch spots in San Francisco and North Beach.“
“This place has the friendliest service, we come here often, and the attached market has really nice Italian grocery items, and is great for grabbing a beverage to go with their sandwiches. The porchetta sandwich is so good, and don’t sleep on the mortadella!“
“LOVE LOVE LOVE this gem! I drove twice in the past week to OBF for food and NA drinks. They have Athletic Run Wild IPA on draft! The staff is friendly and generally very happy to have you there and be a part of their day. The food is DELISH! Breakfast, lunch, coffee, refreshing NA drink to enjoy outside or inside. It is worth the drive for me to not be laughed at when I try to order an NA beverage and have a tons of options.“
“Now this is a bomb sandwich. They don't skimp on the ingredients and it's a monster. This is easily 2 meals for me. Go all-in for the pickled onions and crunch.Vegetarian options: There are at least 2 vegan sandwich options on their fixed menu, and you can also "build your own" and feature hummus and avocado with a mountain of other veggies.“
“This is the place for a quick bite if your in the area. Fresh bread plenty of meat. I like turkey and ham together. This place is on point. There is not a lot of memorable eating spots I have in the bay but this is one of the few I really enjoyed“
“This place is a nice little deli on 3rd street. It is ran by a family and I don't think there is any of sandwich place that can beat this! I only paid 7 dollars for this massive and delicious sandwich. If you are passing by or around the area, stop by and grab a sandwich!“
“Can't find a better sandwich.Any other sandwich chain only scores 1 or 2 compared. The roast beef was tender, thinly sliced, the onion jam sauce so delectable, the bun was perfect. Been years since I've had a sandwich meal that surpassed the taste of Q's.It's an 11.“
“A great little gem in a bustling historic location. Great to sit at a little table in the plaza and watch the people and pigeons! Friendly and prompt service. Drip coffee was fresh and hot. High-lite was the tasty croissant breakfast sandwich. Made fresh on the spot and not reheated like most cafes. Lots of toppings and options - next time I’ll try a veggie bagel sandwich!“
“I've been here a handful of times and every sandwich I've gotten has been delicious. Go for the American special if you like a turkey ham. A family owned spot that always gives me top tier service, asking about my day and making sure I leave a satisfied customer. Feels like a trip back to another era, almost can't describe the vibe of this place. oh and yea its cash only so theres that, atm down the street though! Def give this place a try if you like a damn good wich.“
“Classic old school Italian Deli owned by the same family for many decades. Great friendly service. Delicious fresh custom made sandwiches. My favorites: the Italian beef. Also the mortadella with hot coppa on sourdough sliced w/red onions & giadineria Don't forget dessert. Order a cannoli.“
“Recently came to this location on taraval since sandwiches were the consensus. I didn't know they had a location here as I've only been to the one on Geary years ago. This location has a few small dine-in tables but seemed like most people got their orders to go. I had the RT mushroom sandwich and it was fantastic! I had everything on it and being without lunch that day, it really hit the spot. Lots of options to choose from so likely will be back to try other choices!“
“Have been coming to Roxie’s since I was in 6th grade. Favorite sandwich has always been the crab sandwich with everything on it.In my opinion every sandwich here is good, they make it how you want it and they always give you a hefty sandwich. You can never go wrong pulling up to Roxie’s!Parking: Free street parking but very limited.Kid-friendliness: Sodas, candy, chips! Need I say moreWheelchair accessibility: Accessible but somewhat of a small store. Being a neighborhood mom & pop all are always welcomed“
“My go to place for Banh mi and noodle soups. I order from here at least twice a week. They are always nice and friendly. Even if they are busy they still knowledge me. My favorite is the meatball sandwich add Cha Lua. The bread is always crispy. The noodles soup is filling and doesn’t make me sleepy like from other places.“
“Love this cozy streetside shop. Reminds me of NYC. Get a hefty and tasty breakfast sandwich on focaccia for a hefty price but well worth it. Blueberry muffins are bomb. Wish there were drinks besides coffee but there is a shop just down the street where you can get some Martinelli’s. Bada bing bada boom.“
“Speedy takeout with friendly service and a great deal for $8. I usually go for grilled pork but has the combination and it didn’t disappoint — nice crispy bread, adequate amount of fillings, perfect ratios. Will be back to try grilled pork next!“
“It can be easy to walk by Heroic Italian and not realize it! There are no signs for the restaurant. Instead you will see a wine shop. Wine shop in the front, Heroic Italian kitchen in the back. When I entered, the man at the cashier explained that I could take a seat at any table outside, scan the QR code and order directly on my phone. The QR code links to the specific table you're at so they know who to bring the food to. I ordered the OMG spicy, no lettuce, add burrata. This sandwich was beyond delicious, literally the most perfect sandwich. I should have kept the lettuce on there since it prob would have balanced out the saltiness of the meats, but that's my fault! The roasted tomatoes were my favorite part!! They were so incredibly flavorful! My mouth is drooling just thinking about them! I can't wait to come back to SF to try their other sandwiches!“
“SF has plenty of good sandwiches, but a nice Italian hoagie is hard to find. This place is near the top of my list for SF, especially after Marine Submarine changed owners and the new spot is not even close to what it used to be (and not to mention a very different style). Sandwiches come is different sizes to match your appetite. The slides meats are very high quality, and not just your average deli slices. I recommend the corned beef, pastrami, and roast beef. Like many Italian hoagies, the sauce is incredibly important and has to coat the lettuce and tomatoes just right. The bread is nice and flaky, and not too soft or doughy like a lot of other places. If I lived closer I would come here once a week. Note that they no longer have tables for you to sit inside, the are only take out right now.“
“Remember the grade school taunt, "If you love something, why don't you marry it?" I totally want to marry this sandwich. In fact, I want to commit polygamy. These sandwiches are THAT amazing. The pork belly sandwich has these crispy nubs of deep fried pork skin, thoughtfully diced so that your teeth don't struggle, scattered on top of the filling of the most tender slices of pork belly imaginable. And the Le Dip? Don't get me started. The sirloin is perfectly cooked and shaved so thin that you get the mille feuille effect (Have you ever had mille feuille tonkatsu? Yeah, it's like that). The horseradish sauce is bracing, not overwhelming. And the sandwich fillings are nestled in this special Vietnamese baguette which is unlike a French baguette. It has a glassine crust that shatters the moment your teeth make contact and gives way to a pillowy interior. Eating this sandwich is the type of experience that makes you melancholy the closer you are to the end because you don't want the experience to come to an end.“
“I was very excited to find Gherkins Sandwich shop while on a week long trip to HMB. As a vegetarian we usually get stuck with the same repetitive sandwich options when going to delis, but I was ecstatic to see that most of their sandwich options could be made vegetarian by substituting the default protein with tofu.I got a number 19 - Cal Fire with tofu which had honey mustard sauce, avocado and cheese (I switched the pepper jack for swiss). My husband got a #20 - The Sheriff with tofu, which had a Frank's Red Hot sauce. I loved the whole gherkins on the sandwiches! The biggest drawback for us is that the sandwiches were very messy to eat. The tofu ended up being cubed, so the sandwiches started falling apart instantly. I think it would probably be better if the tofu was cut into slabs if possible. I also think some extra seasoning on the tofu would be great. The sauces on our sandwiches were also a little runny, which kind of added to the messy-ness.We had gotten chips but didn't end up eating them because we were so full after the sandwiches. Overall a good option for lunch, but I would have preferred if the sandwiches were a little easier to eat.“
“Came here on a rainy day and was surprised to see it packed. Seems like a popular work from home spot, which also means quite hard getting a seat on a weekday especially during lunch. The french onion soup was flavored, but dare I say a little too much cheese that most of my scoops were just hardened globs of cheese. Cappuccino was delicious and so was the pastry! Would come in again but this time take it to go and eat outside near the park :)“
“The Sanfranpsycho tasted great but was overhyped in my opinion. I got so many recs for this sandwich and while it tasted great, it was nothing exceptional. The service was nice too and this is a grocery store so there's no seating. Would recommend!“
“I picked up the Gotti sandwich today. The chef is definitely not shy with the food here. Sandwich was seasoned and super tasty I can't wait to come back and try another one. I finished half of it shared the other half of my friend and then ate his half wow great value. The staff is also fabulous which just rounds out the experience and makes me want to come back.“
“We stopped here for a quick bite after arriving in SFO and had to hit the road to go to Napa. Delicious sandwiches and although this place had a beachy vibe. It was really quiet and staff didn't seem terribly friendly or welcoming but our party of four just wanted to get some food and leave anyway.“
“Just smashed a 10/10 hit roasted turkey & jack cheese sandwich with everythingbon the "dutch crust" roll - and it was too delicious to take a photo of, sorry. Excellent chip selection and drinks - great mix of preconceived sandwiches as well.“
“Hello...I had the opportunity to stay overnight in San Bruno before heading to Austin, TX. My sister and I decided to walk to Roma Deli for our dinner. I probably was a pain to the gentleman taking my order...sorry...just very picky about my sandwiches. People...without a doubt, this sandwich was the BEST sandwich I have ever had in my life. All I can say is...YOU MUST GO THERE!!!!! SO worth it...thank you!!!!!“
“Crab Salad Sandwiches are my favorite and Darbys is solid! Hefty on the fillings and flavor is definitely top 3. On this particular visit I asked if the sandwich could be toasted and I was shown the crab melt sandwich as the option. Next time will maybe give that a try but not sure that’s exactly what I was looking for so I rolled with it as usual, everything on it except jalapeños.Parking: Parking is usually available on n the lot or even the street if they are busy.Kid-friendliness: They can do basic sandwichesWheelchair accessibility: Accessible and welcomed“
“The best sandwiches in South San Francisco: Little Lucca! This place is usually packed with a line out the door, but we decided to shoot our shot since it was raining and hoped there wouldn't be a line and luckily it wasn't that long! Everything is made to order in front of you and you can add what you'd like. They have a garlic and hot pepper sauce which are sooo good and a must get. They definitely don't skimp on the add ins and both our sandwiches came out packed and HUGE! We were able to save and eat the other half for dinner haha It's a really nice place to grab a sandwich and maybe head over to the beach or somewhere nice to enjoy. We ended up taking it home and decided to toast it a bit and it was perfection. Next time you're in South San Francisco and looking for a sandwich, come check out Little Lucca! Everyone was so nice and patient even with a rush.“
“places like this are what makes San Francisco so great. totally unassuming from the street, but very clean and tons of seating options, both inside and out. Service was genuine and welcoming. My breakfast was 10/10 and wildly affordable. 100% compostable take out boxes/ramekins.Definitely will be backVegetarian options: lots of “build your own” options with veggies clearly listed.“
“I stopped by for takeout after a visit to the nearby medical building. Very convenient with no crowd to fight with. I ordered the pork belly bahn mi which was indeed delicious. It was a good authentic representatation of a modern bahn mi, but the star of the show was their Vietnamese chicken soup. Similar to Arroz Caldo (Filipino chicken soup) I actually enjoyed this version much more (and I am Filipino LOL). Yes, I would hella come back just for this! Highly recommended low key spot.“
“Amazing sandwich speakeasy! Literally never had anything I didn't like. From the tortas to the tuna melt... you won't be disappointed. ORDER ONLINE. Do not show up trying to get a sandwich, much as they would like to help its a small shop and they get busy...so do yourself a favor and order online... you'll be happy with it! (Don't miss the banana bread for a treat).“
“Worth trying but not necessarily returning. The sandwiches were good but not great, fresh ingredients and well prepared but nothing nocks your socks off in terms of flavor. Ihad the Dagwood on Dutch Crunch and also tried the pastrami on a soft roll and both were just OK. Sep 2015.“
“Nestled in SF, this charming sandwich shop offers a culinary experience like no other. With its fresh ingredients, premium meats, and warm customer service, it is a delight for the senses. The inviting aroma of freshly baked bread sets the stage for a mouth-watering adventure. Each sandwich is a masterpiece, carefully crafted with attention to detail and bursting with flavor. From the warm welcome to the last satisfying bite, this shop is a true gem for sandwich enthusiasts seeking a taste of perfection. And to top it off, we got t-shirts to remember this exceptional experience.I highly recommend you visit and take a bite!“
“First of all, Ann at the counter is just a lovely person to be greeted by. It was a pleasure and she was warm and welcoming from start to finish.Okay, I ordered The Pastrami to go. My thoughts, being a first timer, were to go with a classic. Something that shouldnt be made wrong in any sandwich shop. They didnt disappoint. It was everything I expected in a pastrami with one caveat: I had it on Dutch Crunch bread.(first time having it on that kind of bread)They had a bunch of other options, not just pastrami. If youre in the mood for a good sandwich in The East Bay, head to Oakland and hit up Lunch Box.“
“This is a good lunch spot for FiDi. Sandwiches are $12.50-$14. Salads are $10-$11. Prices on their website are outdated. My sandwich , the LLB special $12.50 was roast beef, turkey, ham, swiss, provolone on dutch crunch, was alright. The New England Clam Chowder $8.50 was chunky and not filled all the way up. That tasted OK as well. Friendly service for a counter style restaurant. Kitchen was fast taking account they were busy. I was pretty full afterwards.“
“That fire hydrant was spitting out sticky goo like a Kardashian on a Saturday night, not a pleasant sight, and I'm not walking past it!Let's cross the street here and go up to Calabria Brothers Deli and grab a sando we can take to the park, she said. When it's Calabria Brothers...I'm all in, they put out some Amazing food. The sandwiches are about the best in the city. 5 stars ☆☆☆☆☆“
“I've now been to Deli Lama about four times and have had a great experience every time. It's in a random part of town but usually there's parking nearby even though some of the spots might not look legit because of construction but regardless, the food is tops and it's a great value too. I've never made it early enough to get breakfast options (and I love breakfast burritos, so I wanna do that some time) but their sandwiches are really solid. I got the TPA most recently on Dutch crunch and it's filling and a great deal! Definitely wanna try more different options but will just have to get up earlier!“
“Don’t overlook this little sandwich shop. I read reviews and decided it sounded good. It was charming. Loved the little place. The sandwich was amazing and huge. I had a turkey sandwich with everything on it and toasted. I wish I could share the flavor - but just YUM! While we were there a guy came in and said he had come to San Francisco on business and had traveled across town to come get a sandwich. He said he used to come to the shop on his way home from high school many years ago. It was so good he just had to come back and get a sandwich.“
“Simply the bomb, no matter what you get on the menu. Neighborhood staple. Locals only type joint. Pictured is the biscuit sando with chicken apple sausage. The biscuit goes crazy… with some syrup? Game over The banana bread is so lite and served warm!!! The chocolate cookies also always hit. Personally a fan of how they actually cook the onions all the way through so that they’re sweet with your potatoes!! It’s all in the details. 10/10 service always. Very rare quality joint. I’ll probably cry the day they close.“
“Fresh, tasty sandwiches and friendly service. What more could you ask for? This place is one of my staples in the neighborhood. Whether you live nearby or are in town visiting, Bite has something for everyone and never disappoints. The lovely ladies that work here are always welcoming and quick with orders. If you find yourself desperately searching for a late bite after a night out, go here. They’ve saved me at 1am quite a few times.Get the Gotti on a Dutch Crunch. You’re welcome.“
“Only been here once, but the reviews are spot on. This place rocks! Great food. Excellent vibe. Nourishing & delicious food that is well prepared. I had tortilla soup and fries. Soup was outstanding and the fries were perfect. Can’t wait to come back!“
“Had the grilled pork banh mi:the pork was grilled very well, with a great fat to muscle ratio. The vegetables were crunchy, fresh and had a great quick pickleThe bread had a crispy outer shell and soft inside. You get all the crunch and none of the torn roof-of-mouth actionFor $10, this was a steal. Definitely trying their bun cha next time“
“I was happy to know this place opens early in the morning especially when I have an early work shift and I'm always hungry in the morning. Haven't been here in a long time but this spot has parking and not as busy as other locations and it's very clean. Ordered me the meatball and pepperoni foot long because the 6" is a tease lol and I was very pleased that it's still a bomb as I last had it. Got a dozen of the different cookies and them... raspberry ones are THE ONES!!! YUMM ?“
