“Absolutely Incredible – A Hidden Gem in Lawrence! We were completely blown away by Fork and Tumblr. After years of struggling to find a restaurant in Lawrence that actually knows how to season food well, we finally struck gold. The food here is absolutely amazing — bold, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The portion sizes were very large! We ordered the Sicilian steak melt, the lasagna, and the Chinese donuts, and every single bite was delicious. The seasoning was spot on, and not a single dish disappointed. Even the cocktails were top-notch — expertly crafted and full of flavor. On top of the outstanding food and drinks, the customer service was phenomenal. The staff was warm and attentive. Bartender Steven went out of his way to make us feel welcome and gave awesome food suggestions. Owners, Rob & Walt also made our experience even better — go see them if you can! We left completely stuffed, happy and couldn’t stop talking about how great everything was. I honestly wish I could give this place more than five stars. Fork and Tumblr is a must-visit. You won’t be disappointed!”

She had a big group seated by us but continued to provide excellent service to us as-well as the other tables around us. Our steaks were excellent, and the manager even comes to check up on you. Couldn’t say better things about Jason, Megan, and my entire experience! Definitely will be celebrating more occasions here!”

“We made reservations well in advance for Christmas Eve dinner at The Eldridge. Our service was so terrible and our waitress was so rude, we left after we finally got our incorrect drink order. We sat for an unreasonably long time before we were even greeted. After the waitress was openly hostile to us, we left money on the table for the incorrect drinks and left before we even ordered dinner. We walked 10 steps over to 715 and were greeted warmly and seated immediately at the bar. The service was top notch and the food was wonderful. The atmosphere was lively, fun and bustling. If you want great service, excellent food and great atmosphere, just go next door to 715. They saved our Christmas Eve date night, and we didn’t even have reservations! Thank you 715!!”

“This is a fine restaurant with one exception. We felt very rushed throughout the meal. Menus were handed to us before we even sat down and it went downhill. On at least three occasions I had to speak up and ask the servers to slow down and stop being so attentive so we could enjoy out meal and conversation. Every time I started a conversation with my son. whom we had not seen in awhile, someone interrupted with some trivial question. I am used to dining where the servers are essentially unobtrusive until needed. I am prepared to give this restaurant a try again because I did like the food. However, I am taking another couple out to clebrate our 50th wedding anniversary and I am going to be very up front about the service expected before we sit down. I get that "turn" is the name of the game but this isn't a fast food joint. If they expect to have repeat business with the older and well-heeled crowd they need to be a little more attentive to the needs of their customers.”

“I am so disappointed in Hyvee Bakery. I’ve been ordering my son and daughter’s birthday cakes there for many years and the cakes have always been perfect! Not this year. My daughter’s cake was sloppilu made and lopsided. What happened to Hy-Vee’s impeccable cakes? 😞 I still recommend Hy-Vee but the bakery manager needs to tighten things up.”

Our table was way at the back near the restrooms but we didn’t have reservations so we were pleased to get a table. Fortunately, the high point of the evening was our server, Grace. She was an absolute delight, a treasure for the restaurant, I’m sure.”

I have never tried anything here that doesn’t taste good, everything is so delicious, flaky and fresh! They also are always coming out with new pastries, you can never go wrong with anything here. The cakes are also so fluffy and light. My parents don’t love eating cake but they are obsessed with the cake from Tous Les Jours. Must go!!”

“I had the daily special beef lemongrass noodle soup, and it was the best noodle dish I’ve had in a very long time! Noodles was soft and chewy. The meat was tender. The greens was crunchy and not overcooked and soggy! The broth was perfect! Had the right amount of kick to it. I can’t wait to come back.”

“Came up here after a 9+ drive from Colorado since Runza is a South Dakota staple. The staff were so wonderful even with us showing up before they close the dining room and were so friendly. “After a long day at work, I decided to order online from Petra2Go and pick it up on the way home. The entrance to the parking lot was blocked on Wakarusa from both ends, so I sadly decided to call and try to cancel my order. A very nice man answered, heard the problem, and asked me where I was at. He came and delivered my food to me! Truly above and beyond customer service, and excellent gyros, fries, and Greek salad. I’ll be coming back for sure, and can’t wait to try more of their delicious and fresh food!”

“Great BBQ! All the meat was very lean and the sauces were good, but I surprisingly found myself using their sweet sauce most. I'm a big fan of service making up a lot of the score, and we were definitely gifted with a terrific server on this visit. Grace took care of us by asking what we like typically and making recommendations along with some suggestions of sides to go with the delicious meat choices.”

“Our food was good but our service, questionable. Our server, enjoying her drink while ours sat empty. Seems this was a favorite hangout corner away from customers. When she came by to refill our drinks I said, “You realize that it has been empty for 15 minuets.” Nothing like hanging out in the hidy hole visiting with coworkers instead of serving g your customers.”

“After struggling a few weeks to find a party room that fit in my budget and had availability to host my mom’s small retirement party I finally landed on Murf’s. I, personally, had never been there before but had heard a few good things- so I decided to book with them. Our whole experience was great!! Lauren was our server and she was extremely friendly and gave us excellent service. She interacted with the few kids that were there which was so nice to see. The room was also free- which was a godsend!! Food was good, I got the chicken tenders and ate some fried mushrooms. Room size was good, we had about 25 people and there was plenty of space for more. All around- a great place to have a gathering. I will definitely be back and will definitely have other parties here.”

“HOORAY FOR ICE CREAM! Baskin-Robbins has been a favorite of one for decades (literally). My favorite flavor is Daiquiri Ice and it used to be available only during the summer months. NOT ANY MORE! YAY! it's year round! As I'm driving all over Larryville doing errands I think why not pop by and get some? It's on the way home (Kinda, sorta. Ok! Not at all but who cares?) 🤣 I get there and walk in. Folks, it's so clean! And bright and airy! Love it! I look at all the flavors and spot my fave and that's when I'm told it's year round now instead of summer only! The clerk is super friendly and so helpful! I spot a coffee & oreo cookie flavor for hubby! Excellent! I request 2 small tubs for take away. The clerk explains to me that the small tubs are 8.00+ for 4 scoops and the next size up is 11.00+ for almost double. I bet he's a marketing major because I absolutely go with that. As he's bagging them for me I spot another fave-black walnut! YES! I ask for and get a small cup (it's protein because of the walnuts) and I eat it in my car (not driving). It's extremely creamy and the maple taste is perfect with the crunchy walnuts. YUMMY! I hurry up eating it as I don't want my oversized tubs melting and well, because it's that good and I don't want to share with hubby nor tell him I had extra. I also ditch the evidence. This wonderful place on 23rd is a slice of Heaven. Try the Daiquiri Ice!!!!”

Not to mention, the little things staff did to give customers the best experience, such as coming to them at the drive-thru to get double orders if the line became too long, or offering advice/info on drinks prior to ordering. Plus, staff seem like they truly enjoy working there. Overall, really good experience.”

It’s the talk of our friend group and work on how amazing the food was, which is always good to hear since wedding food is known for being average… but they were far from average. “Had a great experience before leaving Lawrence this morning. The cafe we were planning on going to for breakfast was closed, so we went a couple storefronts down to Global Cafe. The weather was gorgeous and we ate outside. I had a fantastic smoothie and latte. In the time it took us to finish our meal, I watched as the waitstaff handed out no less than eight free to-go breakfasts and coffees to what appeared to be people without housing. From the interactions I witnessed, it was clear that these were regular customers, and the waitstaff treated them with such dignity - just like any other customer. We recently had them prepare a large sheet cake celebrating an anniversary for our large group. The cake and frosting were fresh and moist and very delicious. “On Saturday, August 23rd, we had great pizza. Three mini pizza's: Hawaiian; tostada; and my favorite, Papa Minsky. Added a side salad and mushrooms for appetizers.
Service was prompt and friendly. All the food was excellent. The toppings on the minis had great texture and taste. Salad was crispy and fresh with excellent ranch dressing. Mushrooms were breaded perfectly. My girlfriend has been a customer of the original Minsky's in Kansas City since she was a child. The Lawrence location, at 934 Massachusetts street, equals the quality of the original. Highly recommend.”

“Hands down the best Asian American food I've had since moving to Lawrence. Fried rice was fresh and had that wok hei flavor you'd want in rice. The sesame chicken was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside and delicious! Not too much sauce, and not too sweet either. And the egg roll was phenomenal. The most surprising part was the portion which is almost as much as what my wife and I would eat together. I will definitely be back to sample the rest of the menu.”

He did not visit our table 1 time until he brought the check, no refills. Then, I asked for a box. . . I had been through the line 1 time, had eaten about 5 bites when my stomach revolted (not because the food wasn’t good, I have a stomach issue that causes me to occasionally not be able to eat, unfortunately I don’t know it’s going to happen until I try to eat) I explained this to the server and he still would not let me have a box. So 1 whole meal wasted. It took him 8 minutes to make change for our bill, and then he shorted us $3. The cook was very polite and cooked our meal well. I don’t know if or when we will return to the Lawrence, KS HuHot, but it wont be anytime soon. Do better!”

My group asked if a specific friend of ours was working the main bar and she was very dismissive and rude for asking. Then proceeded to be rude to us and other patrons beside us. I understand that service work is grueling and at times unforgiving, but she was especially rude. We like taproom, but would not visit if she is on shift. Otherwise, always a great experience. Great authentic Lawrence atmosphere.”

“You know, I’m not one to review often. But I feel I must. I made a joke emphasizing in my order I wanted Parmesan. “Like 80,000 packets.”

When the delivery driver got here, he said I did what I could and I got a chuckle out of it and thanked him but when I opened the box this ABSOLUTE CHAD of a man had roughly 50 packets in there.

Pizza was great. Parmesan was aplenty. Delivery was fast and efficient and my guy went above and beyond. 10 out of 10.”

“I do like most things from hog wild but I have to mention this. Sour cream does **not** get baked. When heated, it curdles into hard, dry crumbles, and that’s not how anyone wants their sour cream. It needs to be packaged separately or put on top of the potato, not underneath cheese and everything else. It’s gross and it ruins an otherwise perfectly fine potato. That just isn’t how dairy should be prepared for safe consumption. Really hope you guys take this as a serious request because this is not the first potato I’ve got like this and it’s really disgusting.”
