As I reflect on my time at the University of Maryland, I can't help but smile thinking about The Rendezvous Inn, affectionately known to us all as "The 'Vous." What began as your father's business has, under your stewardship, become an integral part of the UMD experience for generations of students.

For over 60 years, you and your family have been more than just business owners – you've been a friend, a confidant, and a constant presence in our lives. The 'Vous, now Cornerstone Grill, has been our sanctuary. It's where we've shared beers, laughter, and those nervous first dates. It's where friendships were forged and memories were made that will last a lifetime.

Your dedication to preserving the spirit of The 'Vous while evolving with the times is commendable. You've taken your father's legacy and built upon it, creating a place that feels both timeless and fresh. The fact that Cornerstone Grill continues to be a beloved spot for students and alumni alike is a testament to your hard work and vision.

To my Theta Chi brothers and me, you've been more than just the owner of our favorite hangout. You've been a friend and a supporter through the years. Your continued connection to us long after our graduation speaks volumes about your character and the genuine relationships you've built with your patrons.

“While traveling the last 6 years in an RV throughout the USA and Canada I must admit....this is one of the best BWW 's that we have been to. Clean and very welcoming. Great bartender. Extremely observent of any one in the bar area. This girl is always on her game. I've never been a big fan of the boneless wings but these were perfectly done. Not over or under cooked. Just the right amount of breading and the "limited time only" Buffalo Bleu sauce was amazing. Of course the Parmesan Garlic was excellent. My wife had an excellent Buffalo Chicken salad. Half of that went home for lunch the next day. I asked for the manager, Beverly, before leaving....she is probably the most appreciative and concerned manager we've ever met. Great job to the staff!!”

“I’m fairly new to road biking and had just bought a new to me road bike from FB Marketplace. I had sent an email through their contact form which Laurie answered and gave me enough reason to bring my bike to Proteus. I brought my bike in this past Saturday. The first person that greeted me was Paul. He checked over my bike and let me know that my bike was really in great shape and made a few minor adjustments that he didn’t charge me for. He replaced my seat and clipless pedals with flat pedals. Literally everyone in that shop made me feel comfortable and welcome. Laurie, Jeff, Duncan, Andy, Paul, yall are amazing and made me feel at home. I live in DC, but Proteus is my go to bike shop now!”

“Just left this place and ate in. The portions were surprisingly large. Spaghetti and calzone were great. Service was amazing - very nice staff there! Designed more like a carryout but plenty of tables to eat at. Will definitely eat there again.”

I live 45 minutes away and will be back for sure. 100% worth fighting the traffic to get here and I mean that. Also they have some great drink options. The watermelon lime soda was so cute and very tasty!

“I tried to go to this location only. It is the original. If you'll notice the other restaurants are Ledo's with an S at the end. Similar signage. Similar pizza. But not as good as THE one on Knox Road. If you can go there you won't be disappointed. Parking meters.

2024 UPDATE -- apparently Ledo's did do the right things when they franchised. So I feel like I could go to any of them. I don't think I've had any bad pizza there. Always tasty!”

“This pizza is just right every time for me! I consistently go here for that reason. The sauce is a little tang to it in my opinion, but tastes good. The cheese is good quality. They baked their pepperoni just right (which is usually my litmus test).

The customer service is always cool, I've never had a problem. Staff seems to enjoy themselves while they work, which is always nice to see. Its a clean establishment. Never too busy or backed up. It's my preferred pizza shop, even though I pass a Papa Johns, a Pizza Bolis, a Dominos, and a slew of others to get to this one. It's out of the way for me, but I feel it's worth it. Plus the specials they have are very reasonable in my opinion, comparable to Dominos.

And I like all the toppings I've tried here. Next time I'll post pictures.

“coffee does not disappoint! delightful coffee shop with a lovely environment to work on a laptop between chats with friends :) i recommend asking the barista for their favourite pastry and trying it! i got a pistachio pastry of some sort that was easily the best pastry i’ve had in town. the hot honey cinnamon latte pulls just the right balance of bitter and sweet that adds fragrance to flavour.

“Good, basic pizza that's served fast and hits the spot. A little on the higher end of pricing but you do get a lot. You can have it with any toppings so long as they are either cheese, pepperoni or sausage. Parmesan and pepper flake packets available. Also some good cookies to top it off. You can also have your food delivered directly to your site for free.

Kid-friendliness: The entire campgrounds is a kid-friendly location and the cafe is no exception, with an adjoining media room and arcade.

“Oh the memories!! I can remember my Mom taking me for ice ream here back in the 60’s and 70’s. It was a special treat. My Mom loved their Coffee Flavored ice cream.”

“After sampling several places when we moved to the area, this is by far our favorite place for Chinese food take-out. I was on a quest for the best boneless spare ribs and so far this is it. The quality has been consistent and delicious. We order for delivery frequently and of course stop by anytime we're at the game shop in the same plaza.

I'll use pork fried rice (my husband's staple order) as an example. You won't find tiny little scrap bits of pork here.. no, no - you'll get actual pieces. The vegetables - an often overlooked and disrespected part of any takeout menu - actually have color to them and still look fresh. The rice still has some life left in it instead of being hard, oily, and overcooked. It feels like genuine care was put into assembling this classic dish that so many other establishments just phone in.”

“I am not sure if the kiosk is not reliable or it's user error. I have tried twice to use it but the second time I focused on accurately adding the amount of sugar I wanted but it didn't go through because the barista served my coffee with no sugar and looking at the receipt it didn't have any sugar amount. She begrudgingly added the sugar for me.The coffee is always tasty.”

“I’ve been to Tokoa about a dozen times now and every time I order their house cheesesteak. The problem is that this house cheesesteak changes about twice a month. I’ve seen it go from “The Steak” to “TK Cheesesteak” a handful of times now. With every name change, the sandwich itself changes too.

Last month, when it was “The Steak”… Holy Jeebus. It was probably the greatest meaty amalgamation one could ever ask for. It had tender, perfectly seasoned chunks of steak, lettuce, tomato, house sauce, melted garlic butter and it was topped with fried onions. I must’ve ordered this sandwich about 5 times in the span of a week or two. I even made a fool of myself and tried to order a large size (which they didn’t have for this version). I would do anything for that sandwich.

As of this month, it’s back to the “TK Cheesesteak”. This is your typical thinly-sliced steak with provolone and the usuals. Is it more true to a real Philly cheesesteak? Sure, and it’s still a pretty damn good one.

But nothing compares to “The Steak”.

I can’t speak to the rest of the menu, but it’s clear that the food here is made-to-order, super fresh, and sprinkled with love. Good stuff.”

“Best quality dining option in all of Stamp. As a commuter who has very limited meal options during the day, I've bounced around all of the food options in this student union. Chick-fil-A was my favorite for a while but then got fed up with all the greasiness. Then all of a sudden I find myself being best pals with the manager 'Angel' who is a literal angel blessing me with meals that just make my day better. All of the employees are friendly and prior to meeting the manager, my meals were plain and dry so I asked him if he could make me something good and he definitely came through. I go there pretty much every time I eat at Stamp now, so if your excuse is that you don't know what to get just ask Angel. Or just ask for the Angel special and they will get you right what he makes me. I've yet to get tired of this place because the food is so fresh unlike what can be argued for the other dining options there. Give it a try.”

“This taco spot is in the back of a small convenience store. It's got a homey vibe that makes you feel like you're eating in a friend's kitchen. The tacos are delicious and made with fresh ingredients, and the prices are nice (what you would expect). It's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area, or if you stop by the store and have a bit of an appetite for some good tacos.”

“My very first time here. This place is so freaking good. I got a little bit of everything to give it a try, and their musubi is delicious. The staff is friendly and helpful. I really do appreciate them being nice since is our very first time. I would totally come back again.

“I visited Cuppa Tea last weekend after the DCDI at UMD. I went with a group of friends to get boba and shared an ice cream sundae. I got the Lemon Black Tea which was amazing! Perfectly flavored and sweet. I wish I would've gotten the bigger size because it didn't last long lol. I got a Chocolate Egg Waffle with Nutella filling and vanilla ice cream with Oreos and Reeses. OMG it was sooo good! Our visit there was the perfect way to end the weekend. We hung out at the Cafe while we drank/ate. It's a super cute shop and the staff were really nice! They also have digital ordering if you're not feeling chatty. I plan on visiting next time in CP. Definitely check it out!”

“I visited Dog Haus for National Hot Dog Day, and a big shoutout to them for giving out free hot dogs! I went with the classic Downtown Hot Dog, featuring smoked bacon, caramelized onions, mayo, mustard, and ketchup, all served on a Hawaiian roll bun. Honestly, it doesn’t get better than this. The bacon and onions were perfectly cooked, and the light sweetness of the Hawaiian roll tied everything together.

Dog Haus hot dogs are absolutely amazing! Plus, I got my order quickly—ready in about 5 minutes from when I placed it!”
