The server, I’m not sure of his name but he was a server in the front section by the bar Wednesday around 8pm. He was incredibly knowledgeable of the wine list and knew all the details about the food we were served. The food runner ran thru each item on the food. Just incredible service. We're fish lovers and Mermaid has lots of delicious options — crudo, ceviche, oysters, clams for appetizers, lots of fish and non fish entrees. We had a tuna entree that was wonderful. “We went here for Valentine's Day this year. I was up in the air about either going to Keenan's or Gallaghers for dinner. I chose Gallaghers because I saw that they had prime rib, which is my favorite. We had 7pm reservations and the restaurant was packed! We were seated quickly at a corner booth. The waiter we had was prompt and did an excellent job explaining the menu and the specials. Our food came out quickly. I ordered the prime rib and I must say it was hands down the best prime rib I ever had. It was cooked perfectly and it just melted in your mouth. It didn't need a sauce at all. When we left we were stuffed and the price of our bill was fairly reasonable. I would go here every time I visit NYC in the future.**The reason why I gave it 4 stars for the atmosphere was because seating was a little too crowded for my liking.
