“This place is across the street from Penn Station. I was pleasantly surprised to try it for the first time on Saturday where the happy hour lasted all day! Greatly priced drinks and food. I was surprised to see my beloved Mala Hotpot for $25 that serves 2-3 people. I heard from the manager that things are constantly changing at this place since they opened on February ‘24, but I’m looking forward to interacting with the amicable staff again during my next visit. This place is a hidden gem. The manager’s put a lot of thought into it!”

Sogno Toscano Market & Wine Bar 17 Perry St, New York Wine Bar • $$

“My wife and I went to the Grove in Los Angeles last night and we had dinner at "Sogno Toscana," an it was outstanding. It was perfect in every way; great food, great drinks, outstanding and friendly staff, beautiful location, etc. I love Italian food but I can't think of one Italian restaurant that I like, until "Sogno Toscano." The food was outstanding, and there was so much more we saw go by that we can't wait to go back and try. And the drinks were outstanding. I love martini's and they served the best martini I've ever had. Giacomo was our server and took great care of us. He's from Italy and "Sogno Toscana" brought him to America when they opened their New York restaurant, and now he's in LA for this new restaurant. Although very busy, the entire staff were very fun to be around, and most of them are Italian which is also great.”

“The food was really good. All of it was made well and for the most part amazing service. My only issue was the white hostess told us there were no tables and seated us right by the door completely cramped. Asking another waiter he was able to move us and said we need to be done at 8 as the table was reserved. This was at 6, showing the hostess just did not seat us well and communicate properly. If seated there we were ready to leave, but because the other staff were competent, we stayed and enjoyed good food. My other issue is as the tables are small we could only eat one plate at a time. Otherwise, it was very good! I just wish the hostess did not ruin the experience from the get go, with her incompetence.”

ARIARI 119 1st Ave., New York Korean • $$$

“Nut allergy friendly: Nothing we had had any concerns. I don't think anything they use has nuts.

Wow. This probably ranks into my top 3 Korean restaurants in the US. It's a quaint shop from the outside that I almost walked by despite following directions, but it's packed with flavor.

We made a reservation two weeks ahead when they opened up and were promptly seated.

Order-to-Dishes: Roughly 13-19 mins for appetizers, 23 mins for sharable entrees.

For three people, we ordered:
-Kimchi (complimentary): Excellent. Great balance, not too acidic.
-Seafood Butter-Gui (5/5): An interesting Mediterranean feeling dish with the pita, but it blends the butter with delicious seafood and the perfect accompaniments to balance out each bite.
-Seafood Pancake (5/5): They manage to get squid or shrimp or mussels into each bite of the pancake. Stellar texture. Delicious balance with the chive and basil.
-Fried Soft Shell Crab (6/5): Holy smokes. Must order. Not sure how they fry this but it is excellently crispy and still fresh tasting at the same time.
-Fried Chicken (4.5/5): I give this a good rating for excellent portions. It's fried in a similar way as the soft shell crab. I think it was a bit weaker in texture but overall, still very good.
-Duck Bulgogi (4/5): While this was the weakest dish in my opinion, the duck was still very tender and flavorful. I think it should have been served with some rice or something other than beansprouts.
-Spicy Fish Stew (4/5): Went very well with rice, very tender fish and clams but not enough to share with 3 people.
-Seafood Japchae (5/5): The heck did they do to make this Japchae so good? The octopus perfectly balanced the Japchae texture and it's a great level of spice.

The quality of seafood was overall excellent.

With two drinks it came out to roughly $75/pp.
I'd definitely come back if only for the soft shell crab, and highly recommend.”

* Rose Tteokbokki: As a big fan of rice cakes, I loved this dish! The sauce was rich and complemented the rice cakes beautifully.

Clean and bright inside, the employees have always welcomed me with a smile whether it’s 2pm or 2am. Service goes above and beyond the norm. Food is always solid, and it’s always ready fast. Their sandwiches are good, with chicken parm being my personal favorite. Their menu is truly expansive (and yes, expensive, but typical for the area) with something for everyone. Their coffee is also solid, with a ton of non-dairy milk options. If you’re in the 72nd st area, it’s worth a stop in”

This cart has developed into a four-man operation but doesn't rest on their laurels of popularity and still puts out a good product. The plate comes w/ greens, tomatoes, pickles and fries, hot sauce was nice and kicky. Great option in the neighborhood for halal.”

“Really wanted a breakfast sando to sneak into the movies across the street. This fit the bill.

There's a good amount of options for breakfast wraps. Went with the Mediterranean. Filled to the brim with feta/olives/etc. Added on turkey, which I wish there had been a bit more of and hadn't been $2 (the menu at baseline is pretty fairly priced). Made to order and came out super hot, which was nice when it was ~30 degrees out. Otherwise a pretty standard deli with a ton of drink options. Would come back if seeing another early day movie at the AMC.”

Lastly, we split the burger and the kale Caesar. They were nothing to write home about but good nonetheless. I loved the vibe in this place it was cozy and intimate. I will say my only complaint is we felt a little rush towards the end and that surprised us since the place was no where near closing nor was it busy.”

“I typically avoid writing restaurant critiques, given my years of experience in the industry. However, my recent visit to Gramercy Tavern compelled me to share my thoughts due to the disappointing experience. I was excited to dine at the bar after waiting half an hour for a seat. I ordered my usual drink, appetizer, and main dish, knowing the restaurant’s reputation for excellence. However, things took a turn when I stepped away to use the restroom. During that brief moment, my belongings—two bags—were removed and given to the coat check staff without my knowledge. When I returned, I was unceremoniously escorted to the exit, which left me confused and uncomfortable. At the reception, I tried to express my concerns, but the staff was dismissive. I requested to speak with a manager, but the coat check attendant firmly stated there was nothing to discuss and closed the door in my face. This treatment was not only unprofessional but also disheartening, especially after spending $145 on my meal. It’s unfortunate that a great dining experience was overshadowed by poor service and a lack of accountability. I hope the management reviews this situation to prevent it from happening to others in the future.”

Gorgeously designed menu.

Great service - attentive, knowledgeable and kind. The focaccia is delicious - recommend the honey butter, olive oil & ricotta to accompany. We split the beet salad and arancini - only call out was the prosciutto on the beet salad was “fried / crispy” vs fresh. For pastas we ordered the lasagna which is a MUST order - perfectly crisp, and the agnolotti short rib pasta. I did not love the agnolotti - would try a different pasta next time. For dessert we had the stracciatella gelato - so yummy and perfect palate cleanser. Must order.

The vibe of the restaurant was so cute - brick walls, intimate, warm, inviting. Even the candle in the bathroom smelled like a wood cabin campfire - invoking a comforting, home-like atmosphere.”

“Noortwyk is somewhere I keep coming back to! I’ve been with friends, with my entire team, on a date, for dinner and for brunch. It’s one of my fav spots in the west village and one that you can usually get a reservation at relatively last minute - a HUGE plus!!

For brunch I enjoyed their breakfast sandwich and cinnamon roll - ileene cho is their pastry chef who is amazing!!

For dinner I love the kale salad, bucatini, bbq duck and their parker house seeded roll with cultured butter (so good we always end up ordering two!).

I used to love their original Mille Feuille but have been disappointed by their 2.0 version which they’ve ‘deconstructed’. This no longer feels like a premium dessert/Mille Feuille but instead more a random pieces of puff pastry on top of some bananas and cream. Please bring back 1.0!! :)

Service I find is a little inconsistent - first few times I went service was very attentive, welcoming and helpful but on my most recent trip it was less so.”

“The food the service overall everything is impeccable”

4.6 Superb259 Reviews

“My wife and I went here for our 12 year anniversary. “Perfect” is an understatement. I’ve been to a little more than half a dozen 3-star Michelin restaurants over the past decade, and Chef’s Table was one of the best for me. They nailed it from the moment we walked in right to the very end, when they brought out a special dessert dish with a candle to top off our anniversary occasion, and then one of the chef’s came by to congratulate us. I can say they had incredibly fresh and rare ingredients, and prepared it all impeccably - almost in an unreal, dreamlike fashion. But that’s what you expect at a 3-star Michelin place, so that shouldn’t be surprising (although I feel that I ate more flowers here). The way they combined the ingredients, the meticulous attention to detail (that we could see clearly form our table), and the clear respect the kitchen and waiting staff had for each other might have been what set this restaurant apart. The flavors came to life in my mouth. I wouldn’t stop chewing after the food was gone, just to savor the flavors for even another short moment. I know things can’t be perfect in this world, but Chef’s Table is right there. Our waiting staff was incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and prompt, but they were also very human and able to anticipate our thoughts. They connected with us unlike previous experiences - simply because they knew that’s what we wanted. Chefs Table has left a lasting memory better than any I’ve had to date. We went there right after seeing The Great Gadspy, and I couldn’t be happier with the decision. This is a meal we will remember for ever. Thank you very much for being so amazing. We will be back.”

“Yingtao offers an elevated dining experience, honoring the owner’s grandmother with both its name and the thoughtful approach to each dish. The restaurant’s sleek, modern interior and open kitchen immediately impress upon entry. The tasting menu is a carefully curated array of dishes with refined flavors, with the duck, toast, foie gras, and nian gao standing out as memorable highlights. The flavors here are subtly layered and delicate, showcasing a restrained elegance that even extends to the desserts, which are perfectly balanced and not overly sweet. Service at Yingtao is exceptional, among the best I’ve encountered. The front-of-house team is attentive and professional, and a special mention goes to Ria, whose deep knowledge of the menu enriched my experience by offering thoughtful insights and explanations. HAGS 163 1st Ave., New York Fine Dining • $$$$

“Though we enjoyed our meal at HAGS, our experience wasn’t quite as sensational as some of the other reviewers.

We found the food a bit underwhelming, especially at this price point. Don’t get me wrong, it was good throughout and sometimes great. The beef entree and the pumpernickel brand, for example, were fantastically done.

But many of the remaining dishes were quite vegetable-forward and some of the flavors didn’t seem to make sense together. There’s nothing wrong with a lot of vegetable dishes, but taken together it felt like the meal was a little bare and missing some substance / finesse.

The service was awesome and the decor of the place is lovely and memorable. Unfortunately, those were the parts of the meal that left the most lasting impression (vs the meal itself). Also love that they include tip with the menu prices - more restaurants ought to do that.

Maybe we aren’t the target demographic, but I think there are better spots in NYC to drop $200 pp.”

Spicy Village 68 Forsyth St B, New York Chinese • $

“Spicy Village was a wonderful place to have a Christmas meal! Actually, I'd like to rename it "Spicy Cozy Village" if a spicy environment can also be cozy! To start with, they were very gracious by accepting a reservation for 8 people at 6:00. Then they came outside and took our order even before we sat down and so the food was nearly ready by the time we had taken our coats off! The festivities kicked off with a plate of crispy peanuts, which ended up being the chosen appetizer, main course, and dessert for the little guy in our party. We then progressed to delicious dumplings, sesame chicken, spicy lamb huimei, and other delectable specialties! What was so amazing about the experience is that despite packing lots of people into a relatively small square foot area, it did not feel claustrophobic at all; rather it was comfortable and cozy, like sitting at a big table for a family meal at your house (even if it was take-out!!). Overall, Spicy Village was a terrific place for Christmas dinner - and I'm strongly considering coming back here for the 8 days of Hanukkah too!”

“We had a great experience and I think the sushi chef is just a bit awkward but everything tasted amazing. The biggest thing I want to note is that my boyfriend has a shellfish allergy as we noted on the reservation. They were aware of it but were not aware uni counts as shellfish so just made sure to be attentive here if you have the allergy. I would have also preferred if the chef switched gloves for this reason but it was ultimately fine. The unagi and banana was such a memorable dish.

Dietary restrictions: If you have a shellfish allergy, they will happily replace it with another piece of nigiri.”

I even ordered another tonkotsu ramen to go (all the way to Florida) to bring back to my fiancé. Barely touched my pasta with preserved lemon because I was full, but it was delicious. My daughter’s burger was iconic. The Platonic ideal of hamburgers. Coffee was also delicious. If we had not made a plan to go to La Cabral for dessert and more coffee, I am sure dessert would have been equally excellent.Service was excellent and our waitress was knowledgeable and interested in the food. The fluke reminded me of the first time I went to USC in 1988.

“This place is worth every penny. When you walking you’re greeted by all the staff. There is a cat check which was nice on one of the coldest days of the year. The place is inviting and festive. From the bar area that has a cozy cabin lodge feel. Past the glass area that looks into the courtyard. Then to the dining area where we were seated. With the wood beams at the top and the Christmas decor.
Now the food. We were a large party so we had to leave a card on file and we knew coming in we had a Pre set menu to pick from. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Flavorful and well presented. Everything was hot and to our liking. The drinks were well made. My favorite was the Staten Island.
The service staff kept checking in on us. They were very attentive. They checked if our appetizers had been served and went to check to make sure it was coming. There is no one rushing you to get out. They let us take our time eating and enjoying the ambiance there. I can’t wait to return next year.”

“Omg!!!! That’s all we can say after this impromptu dinner while on Vacation here! We came in last minute and there was no availability so we Sat at the bar and boyyy was that the best decision. Our party of 4 was treated like Royalty by their bartenders
Jesse Jose and Raul. Their charisma and knowledge of the menu and their fine crafting of cocktails had us in Awe all night! All of our entrees were delish. My favorites were the lamb pasta and roasted chicken. The pistachio dessert was amazing. Best amaretto sours we’ve ever had. Most definitely the highlight of our trip! Highligly recommend!”

“Zimmi’s was a perfect experience. From the intimate setting, fantastic wine, excellent bartender, and of course, a brilliant menu with each dish being as superb as the next, I would come back to Zimmi’s in an instant.

P.S. -the one star reviews are completely unjust”
