“This restaurant is small but if you haven't eaten here, make plans! The sesame balls and red bean paste buns are stellar. The green beans will make you weep with joy. The Kung Pow is to die for and the fried rice is addictive. The won ton soup is good and the hot tea is crazy good, and doesn't need sugar at all. Just pull the tea bag out of the cup and enjoy! They're gonna need a bigger location once the word gets out!! Every single tome I've eaten there, it's scrumptious! Even my mom loves it!!”

Hey, Neighbor - Friendly 605 W 19th Ave, Eugene Pizza • $$
605 W 19th Ave, Eugene

“Wow. Truly a local gem. If you want a fantastic pizza experience at a decent price with a wonderful, inviting feel, you are in for a treatLet's start with the main event - The Pizza. The first thing I noticed was the vibrant tomatoe taste (I had the crushed red, the Carnero to be exact). It has that fresh taste that feels garden picked - even though I'm sure they used canned sauce. They must get a good brand and salt it just right because it pops, simply and deliciously. The cheese was another standout. It tasted so very flavorful while not being excessive, just the right amount. The meats on the pizza tasted top shelf and the entire pie was well proportioned. It is a Neapolitan pizza completely but it also has a subtle American flair.I also had the distinct joy of trying two other items of note. A resplendent cocktail and a rich and sweet dessert. The cocktail I had the opportunity to try was the "Smoked Pineapple" which was refreshing, sweet and tart with a few other notes. It also felt very deliberate. Like the ingredients would walk over each other if a person didn't take care to be precise in it's creation. 9/10Lastly I had the Nutella Calzone! Delicious Nutella wrapped in a airy deep fried tasting dough. Rich, and a perfect accoutrement to the end of a dinner, it's perfectly sized for two. The only downside is it would pair marvelously with a simple and well crafted scoop or two of vanilla ice cream and I didn't see that as an option, although I might have missed it.Loved Hey Neighbor and even though it's a pain for me to get here I'm definitely coming back, soon.”

“In love with this restaurant!! We were passing through Eugene for the night and wanted to get some food to go. We ordered: garlic chicken wings 4.5/5 - great sauce and crisp on wings. Wished there was another accompanying sauce or aioli machu Khmer (soup) 5/5 - great flavor from the soup!! recommend getting a bowl of rice to eat alongside the soup cha krung (noodle stir fry) 5/5 - flavorful and packed with veggies. I wish I got 2 of this!! It's a small parking lot shared with some other businesses when you pull up but our order was ready in 15 mins! The restaurant did a great job packing everything and made sure the lid was open for the chicken wings so it didn't get soggy. If I ever pass through Eugene again I would definitely come back!! “The food is freaking amazing. I got bothe the regular and the wild fire for my folks, and both were a hit. They also don't take tips and ask you to donate instead which I thought was really neat. Unexpectedly the apple pie was amazing which I did not expect. It's almost like an peach empanada and had really complex flavors with strong clove and nutmeg flavors, also potentially cardamon?. The marionberry was also good, but the peach pie was fantastic and probably would always get it instead. It all also traveled really well, I think because it had a good bun that didn't get soggy. Highly recommend!”

“Very good food. Large portions. The ‘sushi donut’ is enough for a small appetite meal. The rice was well done and flavorful… And coming for me that actually means something because I don’t normally like rice. I was well on my way to food drunk when I got done. It is a food truck, so no real seating, but it had a parking lot and several communal picnic benches. There were several other food trucks in the same area which makes it easier for those who want different food styles.”

“Been here a few times and the burgers have always been spot on. Haven't tried the BBQ but will do in the future. The main reason for my review is the exceptional service. I went there last night and got three burgers and fries for the family, one of which I asked for bacon. Got home and halfway through my burger my phone rings and it is Tailg8's calling me. They called me to apologize for forgetting my bacon, and that they would make it up to me next time I am in. I honestly hadn't even noticed the bacon missing (burgers are that good!) so I was blown away to get a call like that. Never in my life has a restaurant or food business done that. I feel like I spend the same amount of $ here as I would at a fast food place, but I get a better serving size, and my body feels so nourished afterward. I liked the smoothie I tried as well! Something I really appreciate is the fast and friendly service. They offer online ordering and curbside pickup, so it's literally just as convenient as a drive-thru! Their membership is reasonably priced, imo, if you enjoy their beers. If you're looking for more session beers or IPAs (absolutely nothing wrong with that), this probably isn't the place to check out- it's more of a 'slow down and enjoy' type of experience, which is something I think we all need from time to time.... especially when you can make it out to their countryside location.”

Heritage Courtyard, 105 Oakway Center, Eugene

“I went back and forth on 3 or 4 stars here. I think the vibe and staff saved it from 3, but you really need to know it all to know why. We booked the Den (semi-private side room with fireplace, has sliding doors you can close) for our company dinner. We were told we couldn't do a reservation on a Friday night after 5 pm due to the fact that they have live music Friday nights and get quite busy. Not a big deal, we were fine eating before the crowds. However, they didn't seem very busy through the evening we were there. I hope that was just an anomaly, for their sake. The musician they had that night was good!Ambiance - check! Love the soft lighting, comfortable seating, beautiful table settings and overall decor of this place. Servers - very nice and helpful but seemed a bit slow considering their level of business at the time, as well as a bit lacking. For example, we had extra, unused wine glasses on our table that I ended up removing and putting on a side table myself to make more room. Also, at the end of the meal, a couple of us had extra pieces of flatbread that we would have liked containers for but we were never offered any and it had been so long between sightings of our servers, that we left them behind. Food - great presentation, but mild and lacking flavor. I did enjoy the house-made potato chips, but the onion dip was a small serving and wasn't as flavorful as expected. Same with the baked jalapeno artichoke dip, which was room temp and I felt should have been served warm. It was a bit bland. Additionally, the serving utensils for the appetizers seemed like odd choices considering (i.e. a tiny, tiny "fork" for the artichoke dip) and were hard to utilize with a larger group.Quite a few people in our group ordered the salmon and when received, one person's serving was clearly very uncooked compared to the rest of the tables'. They couldn't finish their plate and brought it up with the staff, who were very accommodating and apologetic. They did end up taking that dish off the final bill, so that was very nice. My Sicilian flatbread was good, if a bit charred on the bottom. Wine/beverages - good! I had the muscat and loved it! I meant to buy a bottle but forgot by the end of the evening. I heard good reviews on the pinot gris as well.”

2445 Hilyard St, Eugene

“Tried out their Lovely 'Rita (no photo, because we were really hungry and wanted to get to the eating), which was both pleasant and a disappointment. The sauce, crust, cheese, tomato, and basil were fine -- but the salt was not. It seemed like there had been sea salt sprinkled on top of the pizza, resulting in some super salty spots. I have to take stars off for that; the salt was just way too much. Some bites tasted like salt and nothing else. The atmosphere was all right, but could use a little bit of improvement; all the paintings and photographs on the walls are a nice touch and add a lot to the atmosphere, but the lighting is definitely on the dim size, and the interior doesn't really feel like a pizza place. The area around the counter and pizza display need more light, to better highlight them. Warmer light, instead of the current white, would be better, too.The location has great potential, if the owners take advantage of it. The lack of other pizzerias in the area, the proximity to the Y and Roosevelt middle school offer opportunities: If the pizza variety were to be extended, and (some) recipes made slightly less niche, considerable success could follow.Service was friendly and accurate in their time estimate. All in all, we wish Seize the Slice all the best and will watch their progress with interest.Parking: Parking is sufficient, at least during dinner hours.Wheelchair accessibility: No obstacles.”

“Came to the beer station in JC. One of 3 food carts open today. We got the 3 taco plate, and a burrito along with chips & guacamole! The guacamole was so yummy! It was creamy. The tacos were good! No cheese, no pico, just purple cabbage & onions with salsa and a lime on the side. My husband loved the burrito- also asada and had french fries inside! Can't remember the name of it. Only like 6-7 menu items to pick from. Overall pretty good, not greasy at all. The chips were super thick and not what I'm used to. The red salsa wasn't good- tasted like pace out of the can. Green salsa had a kick to it. Wished the tacos had cheese or pico or cilantro or sour cream to go with. Still tasty & would come back!”

Our servers were young college kids who worked hard and were attentive to our table! Chef cares about his craft; he corrected a server who set my sushi upside down, which was an extremely minor mistake I didn't mind. “My first time here. Going on a pretty good vibe. Microdosed some mushrooms and picked up a pint of crown. Walked around downtown for a few hours looking for a solid brunch location to feed the gluttony. I’ve eaten most places downtown, I’ve always wanted to try brails, but never made it happen. That is until today. I imposed , an F-it and “yes man” sort of self assurance today and told myself I’m going to walk brails and give a try. Worst case scenario I just go to old nicks if brails isn’t for me.Greeted at the moment of entry and seated right away, they wait staff, who by the way were nothing less than amazing, handed me a menu and asked me about my drinks. Little did they know I looked up their menu before arriving.I gave her my order and as disappointed to find out they do not serve bourbon or beer. Alas, the moment was saved by a crisp, cold, fresh, Pepsi. Which I might mention the cashier gave me an additional refill for wondering at my timely but dignified exodus. Finally, we have arrived at my long, mushroom influenced ramblings. The eggs, perfectly cookedHash browns, astronomicalThe sausage links, astonishingThe biscuit, to die forThe service, fit for the royal court and nothing lessThe atmosphere, divine and pleasant. Almost fun. Definitely a place you and some friends should meet up after a long night. Or if you’re just out for an afternoon stroll and you feel the rumbling of hunger that can only be satisfied by such a hearty meal.”

Each flavor brought its own unique pop and were easily the best wings I've had in their flavor category. I was hesitant about the black mamba at first but the first bite assured me I made the right choice. The only way I can describe these wings is like good sex. Homemade corn tortillas were great, and the tacos came with grilled onions, a sliced radish and some chili oil as well as the usual onion cilantro lime and green sauce. Usually it involves the grease it was cooked in or the flavor. Not here. This food was fresh, and filling. The breakfast enchiladas had a smoked jalapeño that was flavorful but not hot.
