Restaurants by Cuisine

Elizabeth's on 37th 105 E 37th St, Savannah American • $$$$

“It was our anniversary so we took a 3 day trip to Savannah and ate first night at Old Pink House which is excellent but not as good as Elizabeth's. Second night we dined at The Grey which has a modern vibe and I suspect may appeal more to the younger crowd. Third night we ate at Elizabehth's which was our favorite of the three. On any given night, depending on what you order or what is served that you like (or love) any one of the three could come out on top but our top vote goes to Elizabeth's our favorite Savannah restaurant.”

“My fella and I visited Ardsley Station the other night and our experience was the best we’ve had in quite some time in Savannah. Our server Cameron was super knowledgeable on cocktails, daily specials, the menu, and ingredients (I have an allergy). He gave us tons of history on the business, the owner, and the building, truly a great experience before the cocktails and food even hit the table. We both had the Blood Orange Margaritas which were fantastic, the crab cake for a starter, he had the Manhattan filet special and I had the bolognese, and the ice cream sandwich for dessert- all top tier, to the point that we both raved about it all days later. Overall a wonderful experience, not just a meal. Can not recommend enough. 5/5 stars.”

“I took a long time to finally get to Husk, and I would say it was worth the wait. I will definitely go back the next time I take a trip to Savannah. If you are looking for just regular old commercial southern food like fried chicken and collard greens and mac and cheese, this is not the place for you, that would be cracker barrel. If you are looking for real deal old school traditional heavy southern flavors but in a modern upscale setting, then this is the place you want to be.”

Highly recommend 1540 and Trish who was helpful, on point, and really made the southern hospitality shine through.”

Vic's On the River 26 E Bay St, Savannah Southern • $$

“I love the atmosphere and the warm service as I walked into the restaurant. Ordered shrimps & grits and fried shrimps with fries. First time trying oyster shots here. The liquor is strong and the oyster is also soaked in delicious flavor. If you eat the grits by itself, it’s not as tasty. But if you eat it with the shrimps and sausage with drizzle of sauce, all of those flavors goes so well together that it burst into your mouth as your tasting it. The grits sticks together and I normally like them a little more separated. The fried shrimps and fries were crunchy and served warmed.”

Starting with the organizer, Nicole, making everything absolutely perfect upon our arrival to our Kate, otherwise known as our most superb server, and finally to the appearance by the precious co-owner/chef, Wheaton, who visited to make certain all were pleased! The food, the cocktails, the champagne, and the ambiance were absolutely awesome! Among our group of 12, I believe we taste-tested almost the entire menu and the food was amazing! The delivery was impressive for a group of our size and the presentations were spectacularly done! Whether dinner for a couple, brunch for friends, or hosting a larger event, Vic's River Grill is a top choice!”

The liquor is strong and the oyster is also soaked in delicious flavor. If you eat the grits by itself, it’s not as tasty. But if you eat it with the shrimps and sausage with drizzle of sauce, all of those flavors goes so well together that it burst into your mouth as your tasting it. “Wow! Best surprise of Savannah. We stumbled on this place in the afternoon and loved everything about it. It was hard to not eat everything. Best pie crust I've ever had and I've had some good ones. Paige was so knowledgeable and helpful. We ended up coming back the next day for cocktails. Sarah and Santina were just as lovely. Our favorites were the Pimm's cup and The Man Who Sold the World. We cannot wait to come back to Savannah and visit this Gem.”

We were impressed with the quality of coffee and zucchini bread offered at this establishment, which were very tasty. The courtyard seating area provided a relaxing ambiance, where we enjoyed catching up with friends. We plan to return to this coffee shop in the future, as we would like to try their Tex-Mex dishes, which we heard are also very good.”

“My husband and I love Thai. We walked by this place several times during our stay and noticed them growing their own basil. We decided to try them and I am so glad we did. This is a true small business with a "mom and pop" vibe. I had the Larb Gai which was fresh and flavorful which was welcomed after the heavy seafood dinners. My husband had Basil Crispy Pork (Bellies). He said it was just right spicy, with small Crispy bits and a perfect portion of onions/peppers/basil to mix with jasmine rice. The restroom was very clean. The staff was friendly and I would definitely recommend giving them a try!”

“The atmosphere is very dark and sexy located at the bottom of the Alida Hotel. The service was friendly, but sometimes could lack attention. But the food quality surpasses everything, and it is definitely worth a visit. The prices are not that high you would spend just as much money as going to a P.F. Chang's or a Cheesecake Factory. This was a little bit too salty for me but for the appetizer we got CRISPY CALAMARI BANANA PEPPERS, CALABRIAN CHILIS, PARSLEY, CILANTRO, ROSEMARY AIOLI. My main entree was the best burger I have ever had. It was the first time I could eat a burger without it sliding off the bun. From the bun to the sauce to the cheese and pickles everything was perfection. RHETT SMASH BURGER TWO BEEF PATTIES, AMERICAN CHEESE, RED ONION, PICKLES, NORFOLK SAUCE, OLD BAY FRIES. And dessert was just okay for me to much cream not enough banana. BANANA PUDDING WAFERS, VANILLA PUDDING, CREAM”

“Our family loves Flying Monk but yesterday it disappointed my husband and I. I was there yesterday. I let my friend try Flying Monk for the first time. She ordered Singapore Noodles & Edamame dumplings which didn’t disappoint her. I ordered Pad Thai which was good since the 1st time I’ve tried it few months ago and Chinese Broccoli. I also bought Chicken & Rice and Edamame dumplings for my husband (for take out). What disappointed me is the ton of garlic in the Chinese Broccoli that over powered the natural flavors of the veggie. Next time, please don’t do that, we’re not vampires! LOL! My husband also smelled something like “strong chemical smell” from the food when I handed him his lunch yesterday after his meeting. The red geisha drink was great and refreshing. We had a courteous and attentive server yesterday that made the experience overall good.”

The Ordinary Pub 217 1/2 W Broughton St, Savannah American • $$

“Wish we would have taken pictures. All of the food was great. I’ve eaten at a lot of more hyped restaurants in/around the area, and I found myself enjoying this more than any of them.We went twice in two days (it wasn’t the plan, but the experience was so great that we found ourselves double dipping).Great service. We booked a table online just to be safe. That went perfectly and we were seated as soon as we arrived. Our waiters were each really nice— willing to offer suggestions and consistently attentive. For the food, we got four entrees in our two visits: the shrimp and grits, the low country Mac and Cheese, the Steak, Egg, and Grits, then finally the chicken and waffle gyro. Here’s how I’d rank them:1) Shrimp and Grits- big shrimp and chorizo on top of the great Gouda cheese grits. The separator is the bbq guajilo sauce. It’s smoky and tangy. Not much heat, but a bit of spice— if that makes sense. Try this.2) Steak, egg, and grits. I got my steak medium rare, and loved this dish. Chimichurri sauce with the egg yolk smothering the steak, then getting a smidge of the grits was everything you hope it would be. I’m sad that it’s over, but I’m glad that it happened.3) Low Country Mac. There’s a big jump from the top 2 down to this one. This isn’t bad by *any* means— just a bit one note. It does that note really well. Big shrimp, chunks of sausage, and a bunch of creamy Mac and cheese. It’s really good. Just about what I expected, and the above two dishes went above and beyond.4) Chicken and Waffle Gyro. Again, still really good. Any of these dishes are worth getting and I would get them again. The waffle gyro was really interesting, and the chicken was great. A little sweet for my tastes, but sweetness is expected with this dish.Bonus review in case you made it through my long winded opinion: the pork and donut sliders were great. I thought they’d be gimmicky and too sweet. Our waiter (the GOAT) suggested that we tack on the side of Gouda cheese sauce, and it wasn’t merely an upsell. The Gouda sauce is the perfect compliment to this dish.Bonus bonus review in case you made it through the bonus review following my long winded opinion: great cocktails. They all taste great, and pack a punch. Everything felt well blended and intentional as opposed to the maligned concoction of sugar juice and a shot of vodka that one tends to receive in other nearby establishments.Try it if you haven’t.”

“The Black Rabbit is a super cute restaurant/cafe. For their price, their dishes are generously sized and full of flavor. I ordered the German potato salad as well s the pickled seasonal veggies. I meant to save some to take home but they were just too good. “This place is a great low key spot for good drinks and food. The empanadas are crispy and stuffed full of meat and the mojitos are made fresh. I mean you literally watch them muddle the mint with lime. And the top it off with a piece of sugar cane. The music makes you long for a sandy beach and the sun on your skin. I felt like I was transported home to Puerto Rico. This is definitely a bit of a hole in the wall but the inside is much bigger than it appears. As you enter you see the bar and are greeted by the staff. I love how friendly everyone is and hearing the favorites of others. If you're a lover of authentic mojitos this is your spot!”

I have caught and eaten more than my share of fresh seafood. A few weeks ago I placed an order and Tiffany, the wonderful young lady taking my order, made sure that I was calling the right restaurant location. This was my 2nd night in town, so I didn't know that there were 2 locations. Tiffany was amazing and the food was great!! I arrived in town tonight and came straight to OD Seafood to try it again. I was greeted by very friendly staff and saw many happy customers enjoying their meals. The atmosphere was very welcoming!! Ms. Tiffany, the same young lady from my initial encounter a few weeks earlier, took amazing care of me once again!! Several other staff members made their rounds and checked on me and the other customers over the course of my visit. I'm from the south and catfish was certainly a dish that my family from Louisiana knew how to cook.
