“As a vegetarian we are always looking for places that serve delicious Italian dishes. We found that here! The eggplant Parmesan was off the charts! The spinach ravioli was perfection. Combined with the service we felt like we were indeed back in Italy!”
“Great customer service staff.I am very satisfied with the delicious food.Of course, pasta ? and pizza ? are must-haves. We recommend coming in large groups to share a little.”
“I've tried the Daeho in japantown SF and I've had the Daeho in San Jose...but I feel like this Daeho tastes the best??? I'm not sure if it's the meat quality, portion sizes, flavor or what but this is my favorite location out of all the Bay Area locations.Daeho specializes in galbi-jjim, which is Korean braised beef short ribs in the most delicious sauce. You MUST get the cheese on top because they torch it at your table and it makes for a great IG story haha. I also like to get rice cakes in it. The large size can feed a table of four. The spice level is kind of inconsistent among the chains or even on certain days. I usually get spicy and I thought it wasn't spicy, during my most recent trip. (Maybe my spice tolerance went up? Maybe the chef just made it less spicy?) If you're unsure what spice level you are, I would err on the side of less spicy because you can always add spicy to it later.Aside from the beautiful galbi-jjim, I think everything else on the menu is pretty good. I like to pair my galbi-jjim order with a cold noodle to offset the heat. I think the soups here are so good. Their galbi-tang (short rib soup) is perfect on a cold day.”
“Service is always polite and efficient. Food arrives quickly, and it's always perfect food for cool winter evenings. The spicy ramen w/ added egg, and standard tsukemon are our gotos. Plenty of filling fatty flavors and textures.Adding sides, appetizers or the extra meat makes it a Lot of food, with no room left over for one of the many dessert-centric walkable places. We go early in the evening, as even years after opening, this place has a line (worth it) even in the middle of the week. It's consistent, full of flavor, deep comfort food. One of my top 5 in downtown San Mateo”
“7:45pm reservation; we were told it would be five minutes for our table, and were seated at 8:20pm. Michael was gracious as always. The pork Milanese and spaghetti pomodoro was delicious as usual, and a relatively good value.”

“I had the scallops with the risotto and corn. No sauce. 3 others in the party had the same dish with the sauce, none of them finished the meal with that sauce on the risotto. They should rethink that dish, it was sooooo good without it. The restaurant is too expensive to serve a meal to a party plated as described on the menu and no one like it. It was a waste of money for those 3 people. It's was loud.”
“It's been a while since I've eaten here. I've forgotten how big their selection is and how good their food is. This family owned restaurant has been around since 1983, they must be doing something right! Their portions are big enough to feed an army. We walked in with an army, 10 hungry teens, 13 adults and a 10 year old. We ordered pizza, pasta and apps. Nothing beats carb loading on a cold Saturday night. They also offer lots of Mediterranean dishes in this Greek inspired restaurant.”
“Don't listen to negativity regarding ALLSPICE— this is a hidden jewel whose cuisine will blow you away for its creativity, flavor and inventiveness. The veggie dishes fully hold up to any of the meat entrees, really extraordinary— light, luscious. The wine pairings are excellent and reasonably priced. Michelin is rarely wrong and here, doesn't even do just to the romantic combination of class and elegance. Best place for date night I know...”

“Had early dinner at kajiken on a Friday night around 530pm. There was no wait but a line started to form as soon as we got seated. I got the homura and it was good - noodles tasted fresh with good chew. I would say this dry ramen has similarities to Taiwanese minced pork noodles. On the table are condiments (garlic, chili oil, vinegar, sesame oil, sesame seed) for you to adjust to your taste. I think i prefer regular ramen with broth; i was missing the super rich soup that comes to mind when i think "ramen". Having said that, it was a good dish if you're in the mood for it.”
“The culinary expedition to 'Smoked Heaven' was nothing short of spectacular. Each bite of the tender, slow-smoked brisket melted in my mouth, releasing a symphony of flavors that were both complex and comforting. The smoky aroma, infused with a subtle hint of hickory, enveloped the meat, enhancing its juiciness and depth of flavor. The accompanying homemade BBQ sauce, with its perfect balance of tangy and sweet, complemented the brisket beautifully, elevating the dish to new heights. The sides, particularly the creamy coleslaw and savory baked beans, were delightful, offering a refreshing contrast to the rich, smoky meat. 'Smoked Heaven' not only delivers on its promise of authentic BBQ excellence but also excels in creating an unforgettable dining experience that leaves you craving more.”
“What a wonderful surprise! I needed gluten free bakery goods, and Lolita Artisanal bakery came through with many choices. The Argentinian Alfjores were a huge hit, as was the amazing gluten free coconut macaroons. Definitely check this cafe out!”
“As a coffee lover, this place has been an epiphany to me. This is beyond 3rd wave coffee. New coffee processing methods sourced from far-flung roasters produce incredible flavors.”
“As a vegetarian we are always looking for places that serve delicious Italian dishes. We found that here! The eggplant Parmesan was off the charts! The spinach ravioli was perfection. Combined with the service we felt like we were indeed back in Italy!”
“Amazing Pizza. We tried the Pesto VegeAlso the Red Sauce PepperoniCrust was soft with a crunchy exterior. The flavors in the Pesto just popped , full of satisfying flavors.”

“Great spot for a date or just a night out. There is parking along the front. There are tons of seats available with some near heating like the fire pit or the heat posts. You order abs they bring it to you. The service was quick and the drinks were delivered to our table warning 10mins. The staff is very quick to clean also. The beer selection is great and there is something for everyone!”

“Update - new vegan empanadas are great! They are filled with mushroom and vegan feta, very filling and tasty. They have always had vegan options since they opened, delicious plantains rice and beans. It's a local small business with an owner who cares. They added vegan meats now as an option which was something I've been asking for. Updated from previous review on 2023-01-24”

“I've been a patron of Romolo’s for quite some time now. Their cannolis are some of the best in the entire Bay Area, even surpassing some I've tried in Italy. The key aspect is that they prepare your order in front of you, which sets their establishment apart as one of the best. Unlike most places that have their cannolis pre-filled and waiting for customers, at Romolo’s, the shell never gets soggy. On your first bite, you experience a satisfying crunch, which is crucial. The ricotta filling, if you opt for the classic, is light, airy, and creamy, just as it should be.”
“Everything was ok. Not the most authentic German food (schnitzel wasn’t, spaetzle was ok); chicken sandwich was a bit messy. We came in a large group. The QR codes make ordering easy from your phone, but there’s no concept of service since they just bring what you click, and asking for tip upfront is also a bit weird. Nice open space with communal tables, so it’s good for big groups”
“Ok this is the 4th time me and my wife we usually visit here every Friday on exactly 11:15 am . The place is always clean and tidy as always i have visited and the girl who is the server she is so sweet and nice . Her customer service is so nice and how sweetly she describes every single food . She is so cute . Ok talking about food we always order veggie momo steam tofu tika masala garlic nan and chowmein bowl with gobi manchurian so delicious mouth watering delicious food. I really recommend you guys to visit if you guys want good nepali and indian food in San Mateo downtown.??”
“Tiny restaurant with a smattering of tables and a chefs counter. Definitely try for the counter if you’re alone or a party of 2 (or 6)Do not attempt to walk in at least on a weekend; saw 2 or 3 couples make an attempt only to be sent away”
“This is the best Thai Vegetarian food we had in a long time. Perfect spices. The Pumpkin curry was divine. Also the Pra-Ram is very delicious. .I wish we would live closer, I would eat here once a week. I want to return and try other dishes.”

“It was our first time ordering from Simple Delights and we are very happy we chose you. My daughter's birthday cake was perfect in all ways, the cake and frosting was very delicious and the right amount of sweetness. We had chosen the Vanilla Chiffon cake with Vanilla Swiss Meringue Buttercream and everyone had very good opinion about the cake. Thank you Jessica for your timely responses to all my email communications and taking into account all my suggestions and making us the perfect birthday cake.”

“Very nice neighborhood bakery pop-up. Great coffee and good assortment of pastries. Bike parking is available, so I biked over and had breakfast. I really liked the mushroom scone.”

“Ist time here and impressed. Wanted coffee in a real cup and almond croissant and stayed for the ambiance! Italian music playing in the background and a window seat to view the creek. Talk about relaxing ☺️ A lot of locals here so I know they've found a great spot!!!They offer breakfast and lunch, will have to try these another time. Can imagine this spot with the umbrellas on a summer morning. Give it a try ❤️”
“Was invited to be background for a filming at this restaurant. The service was great and they even helped fix my friend's dish when he found a hair in it. I liked the creative way they presented the vegetables. My potato somehow looks like a muffin. Additional service was real flowers, real candles, and great cocktails. Amazing.”
“Went for Breakfast Food - 4/5. The meat lovers sandwich, while having decent ingredients, had a very dry texture. Bacon was crispy and the ham scramble was on the drier side. Bread was toasted plainly, which added to the dry nature of the entire sandwich. The cheese added some softness, but textural wise, it could've used some variety. Hash browns were browned well with a nice bite. Service - 4/5. You order from the counter first than they bring out the food. Quick and friendly. Value - 3/5. Breakfast sandwiches come with a good amount of filling and hash brown sides. Price is on the expensive side for what they are, being $16.50 for most. Parking - Mall Lot (Free)”
“Brought the family here after a day in SF. It was the perfect meal after a long day. The crust was thin and crisp and all of the toppings were fresh. We ordered one family pizza and it was more than enough to feed all of us. The staff that helped us were so kind and welcoming. Definitely a place you can order out and eat in at. Definitely will swing by again when I'm traveling through the area again!”
“Fun, casual place for meeting a group. The culinary approach is best described as comfort food, with something for every taste. I chose Lazy Dog to for a family get-together because it's close to our Foster City relatives, has easy parking, and a nice outdoor area that is dog-friendly. We all found something we liked in the menu. My husband really liked the Cuban sandwich, my older daughter loved the Kraft macaroni and cheese (nothing special, obviously, but exactly what kids tend to want), while my other daughter wanted Asian noodles, so we shared the yaki soba (which was delicious). Most importantly, my somewhat picky 92 year old grandmother, who medically needs to make sure she eats enough (but can't always bring herself to), ate her entire portion of teriyaki noodles. The lunch portion was perfect for her--she can't eat too much in one sitting. What I liked most about Lazy Dog was the service. Anthony was really great. Some of the dishes we initially tried ordering were unavailable, so he brought free dessert--sundaes for both my daughters. And they were extra fun: bowls of ice cream with little dishes of chocolate sauce, strawberry sauce, and sprinkles so the girls could make the sundaes themselves. The other staff were also attentive. When the sun got bright, they brought an umbrella, unprompted, to shade my grandmother. There's a deal right now for one small plate for $5, available all day--a bargain.”
“One of my favorite places. 1st, it has the best and friendliest service of anywhere in town! The food never disappoints. I like to go earlier in the evening before it gets too crowded and noisy. I don’t like to eat a meal with a friend when it’s too loud to have a conversation. Would recommend this place for great service and food!”
“This is a culinary delight and an absolute MUST dining experience in the super quaint "Main Street" area of San Mateo. The staff was incredibly friendly, welcoming and attentive - as if you were honored guests in their home. The food was incredible - truly something for everyone - and delicious. The wine list is extensive - they offer Caymus Cab by the glass; a rare occurence. The cocktails were well crafted. Start to finish...this was a meal and an establishment to remember. I will be back! You need to check this place out!!Parking: Immediately in front of the restaurant is a walkable promenade (no vehicular traffic) - 2nd & 3rd Streets offer limited street parking, some of which is restricted - much is taken up by restaurant outdoor dining "parklets". YOUR BEST BET is the Main Street Parking Garage. You only pay until 6 PM...it is free until 2 AM thereafter.Kid-friendliness: Not so much. This is definitely a "hey, mom & dad, take a few hours off! Get a sitter!" kinda place.Wheelchair accessibility: Accomodating - but give them a heads up ahead of time. One of our guests had a walker and staff graciously helped her get situated, and stowed the walker while we dined.”
“We stopped here for a quick bite after arriving in SFO and had to hit the road to go to Napa. Delicious sandwiches and although this place had a beachy vibe. It was really quiet and staff didn't seem terribly friendly or welcoming but our party of four just wanted to get some food and leave anyway.”
“Best of the best! I recommend ordering the Seafood Tower. It's new on the menu... super super delicious. You are my favorite place to eat seafood every Check Friday.”
“My husband got the Chop pastrami salad, which is always good and this time I got the shrimp tacos. Perfect amount and should've asked for some spicy sauce or jalapeños because it could've used a little kick. All in although, service was great what else can you ask for!?”

“Amazing place. Service is beyond excellent. I love verities of cuts, the seating. The salad bar is one of my favorite. you will enjoy the whole experience. My favorite cut of all times: flank steak. They just make their food with love.”

“Authentic Thai food - great vegetarian options - good portions - green curry with tofu is delish - medium spicy is probably too spicy for most - owner is very helpful with menu choices and vegan/vegetarian options!”
“Reservation required even if you are just one person! With that being said, loved this hidden gem! I like that they have their classic cocktail menu and on the back they have their own version of that cocktail. Everyone was really nice. Plus free popcorn!”
“You only realize why it’s hard to score a reservation at this 8 seater sushi counter until you try Chef Yoshizumi special sashimi and nigiri tasting menu. Nestled in downtown St Mateo, this Japanese oasis that looks like your neighborhood sushi joint have some of freshest & tastiest seafood I have ever tried. From the Japanese delightful Amberjack to buttery Kinki(Japanese rockfish) to delicious Bonitos nigiri to sea eel nigiri from southern Japan that literally melts in your mouth. Watching the knife action of Chef Yoshizumi was a real treat, he was kind, nice and always smiling. Service was on point and their Sake tasting and choices were delightful and complimentary to the fish courses. The egg custard cake at the end was scrumptious but we didn’t really like the almond custard dessert. Definitely worth the trip and worth another visit.”
“Great food - every dish we ordered was high quality - the kids cheese dosa was perfect with what looked like Amul cheese. The owner kindly supplemented the chutney with ketchup / hersheys chocolate as an alternative when he learnt our kid had nut allergy. The Chicken Dum Biryani was flavorful and huge portion size. The rava dosa was probably the best we’ve had in the Bay Area. Highly recommend eating here, the owner was extremely kind and went out of his way to make our meal enjoyable.”
“Gabe was great! We had a wonderful time celebrating my husband's birthday. Thank you you for bringing him a bowl of ice cream & singing happy birthday to him, he really enjoyed it. Thanks Gabe!”
“The hotpot we ordered at medium spicy level was really quite spicy and a bit too spicy for me and my friend, but oh boy, although it was too spicy for us, we thoroughly enjoyed it. All the hotpot ingredients we ordered was good and I liked the fact that they have free appetizers like spicy chicken and sour vegetables. I recommend that you don't have to order too much and leave your stomach to enjoy some of the free appetizers. There isn't much service but the ambiance was good.”
“Stumbled on this place quite by accident - since its not a very visible place. Was surprised by how good and fresh the good was, and awesome shakes. Has become our regular go-to burger joint, and on a nice sunny day the outdoor seating is perfect with the great food.”
“Our server, Stacy, was amazing! So friendly and efficient. We went for our son’s birthday and everything was perfect. And so nice to see Suzy, one of the owners, again. She always takes the time to chat for a few minutes with us. Just a lovely time. Thank you Stacy and Suzy!”
“Inexpensive restaurant with a great variety of dishes. Don't if the dishes were not as tasty, but they also were plentiful. We will go back to sample other dishes. I did not care for the seafood noodle soup. Fried rice and chow mein were tasty. The salt and pepper bean cake was missing the salt.”
“There are a few small plates available from each of several Mediterranean cuisines. The overall collection is somewhat eclectic, but the quality was consistently very good and mixing the different styles worked. The wine list is also good and fairly representative of the different cuisines.”
“You drive into a very quiet parking lot with ample parking spaces. You begin to question whether you are in the correct area… then you walk into the restaurant and realize you have walked into the right place. On a Friday night you enter the most exciting place in Burlingame! The music is live and the drinks are served…. The food is great and the service is fantastic. Be sure to go only if you want to enjoy yourself, especially on a Friday night!”
“The best vegetarian options are Tofu skin, white lotus, woodear mushrooms, enoki mushrooms, pumpkinsVegetarian options: Tofu skin, white lotus, woodear mushrooms, enoki mushrooms, pumpkins”
“Rated this place five stars because it’s really the best no-nonsense brunch place I’ve been to in the Bay Area. The wait is short, the menu has amazing options, price is reasonable, and the food is of high quality and well presented. Sure, it’s not your typical elevated, extremely instagrammable type of brunch, but I prefer this to long waits and overpriced meals at other places.I’ve tried many of their toasts and croffles and they’re all phenomenal. Other favorites include the Denver omelette and ham&cheese crepe. The lattes are also great, with emerald matcha being my favourite!”
“I don’t normally write reviews but this place I just HAD to. I didn’t take pictures of all the food but we got the black truffle edamame, uni nigiri, sweet shrimp nigiri and the 20 pc sashimi. All of the food was too good! I was very very impressed, the sashimi melted in your mouth and perfect texture and the uni was just perfect. When I tried the edamame I was very impressed and it was very reasonably priced! I will say going into it I was definitely a little annoyed since we waited a lil long ngl and so was my mom due to being really hungry but the staff was still very sweet and accommodating, she even gave us free shots and tried to get us a table asap !! I will definitely be coming back and recommending this place to my friends :) it was raining really hard and super windy when we came as shown in the video but still definitely worth the meal.”
“One the better super burritos (con pollo asado) I have had in a long time. The chicken had a slight smokiness to it. The quality ingredients came thru. I strongly recommend.”

“Our favorite place for sushi! Friendly staff, reasonable prices, and the best food. Every item is delicious, from the simple California roll to the fancy sashimi.”

“Great food option, especially if you’re awake and hungry in the middle of the night. Delicious multi-grained pancakes. Flavorful T-Bone steak & eggs. Freshly brewed coffee and friendly service. Wonderful! Thank you Seema B!”
“Is your average Jack in the box. Conveniently located in downtown San Mateo and open 24 hours a day. This spot is perfect for late night munchies or any on-the-go meal. I personally love the egg rolls ?.”

“There are so many options on the menu, and I just wish I could try them all someday. Every single dish is nearly perfect, with some tasting even better than those in the original country. The food here is accessible even for first-timers and those who have never had Asian food before.I’ve heard that the chef is an expert with extensive professional experience in Japan, which reflects in the choice of ingredients that perfectly complement each dish’s flavors. Not to mention the high quality of their service; all the staff are prompt and friendly, well-trained, and equipped with knowledge and experience, ensuring customers have a comfortable and enjoyable time during their visit. It’s the perfect place to recommend, invite, and gather with your friends and family at any time!”

Takeout Restaurants
“Last night, I had the pleasure of dining at Wakuriya in San Mateo, and I must say, the experience was quite remarkable. From the moment I stepped in, the serene and welcoming ambiance set the stage for what was an exquisite culinary journey. The service at Wakuriya was impeccable. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable dining experience. Each course of the kaiseki menu was presented beautifully, showcasing a blend of traditional Japanese culinary artistry with subtle Californian influences. The highlights for me were the braised sea bass with its delicate yuzu gelee and the perfectly cooked Wagyu beef, which was both tender and flavorful. However, while the food and service were exceptional, I have some reservations about its Michelin star status. The quality and presentation were top-notch, but I felt that the overall experience, while delightful, did not fully align with other Michelin-starred restaurants I’ve visited in terms of creativity and culinary innovation.Additionally, considering the price point, I found Wakuriya to be slightly overpriced. While I understand and appreciate the quality of ingredients and the skill involved in preparing such dishes, the cost seemed a bit steep when weighed against the overall dining experience. In conclusion, Wakuriya is undoubtedly a great restaurant that I would recommend for those seeking high-quality Japanese cuisine in San Mateo. The serene atmosphere and meticulously prepared dishes make for a memorable dining experience. However, if you’re looking for a Michelin star-level experience, you might want to temper your expectations slightly, especially considering the price. Nonetheless, Wakuriya remains a gem in San Mateo’s culinary scene, and I am glad to have experienced its offerings.”

“Marisa is so nice and great customer service. Best Jamba location in the Bay Area! I live closer to several other locations, but drive an extra few miles for nicer people and service. Love how they can still make the old school drinks - Orange Carrot Karma! Location is friendly and lots of care given to customers.Taking it to the next level - Coolest Jamba location!9/9 Update - tried the Go Getter; great option for macha lovers?! Pumpkin Smash ?? is also in season now to get you in the fall mood! As always great service and high-energy from Marisa ?.9/16 updateService is so fast and courteous at this San Mateo downtown location. I go to many other Jamba locations in the Bay Area and this store stands out in service and friendliness above them all! Keep up the good work Marisa and staff!9/17Great service and smoothies. This location is special. Employees are motivated and crank out the best smoothies. Marisa makes sure all customers are taken care of. If you have any issues, she will resolved it to your satisfaction. I go to Jamba a lot, but this is my fav store on the peninsula.”
“Delicious vegan options. We tried the garlic tofu, spicy vegan eel sushi, and the tofu katsu curry. We loved them all and will be coming back to try more of the menu. The woman taking orders was incredibly friendly and gave us hot tea while we waited for our order.Would highly recommend if you're looking for a takeout meal.”

“My son loves this place but today I went to a restaurant to eat with my children and friend but a couple of the diners looked at us in a hostile and dirty manner and we felt very uncomfortable. I think we should see inclusion and empathy for others.?????”
“Antoine's Cookie Shop is hands down one of the best cookie destinations in the Bay Area! From the moment you arrive, you'll likely encounter a line - but trust me, it's absolutely worth the wait. I've tried numerous flavors here, and each one has left me thoroughly impressed. However, there's something truly special about their original chocolate chip. It's incredibly buttery, bursting with flavor, and perfectly balanced in sweetness. One bite and you'll understand why people keep coming back for more. Now, let's talk about the price. Yes, cookies here can add up, but let me tell you, the taste is simply unbeatable. The workers here are quick, efficient, and always ready with a warm smile, ensuring that your visit is as pleasant as can be. Despite its smaller size, the shop is cozy and inviting, with the added bonus of a microwave to warm up those delectable treats - because who can resist a warm, gooey cookie? In conclusion, if you're a cookie enthusiast seeking an unforgettable indulgence, look no further than Antoine's Cookie Shop. With exceptional flavors, efficient service, and a cozy atmosphere, it's a true gem in the heart of the Bay Area.”
“Our favorite place for sushi! Friendly staff, reasonable prices, and the best food. Every item is delicious, from the simple California roll to the fancy sashimi.”
“I'm a committed fan. Hands down the best authentic momos in the Bay Area - thin, translucent skin, perfectly spiced, just right. Ask for the spicy red sauce, and it'll transport you right back to the bylanes of Delhi and Kathmandu. Superb! And the cherry on top is staff that genuinely cares and adds a personal touch. I asked why they switched the spicy red sauce with a milder orange one on my last order, and they took the time to call me, explain, and promised extra red sauce on my next order. They clearly take pride in their product and care about delighting their customers. Well done!”
“Came for a team event with 6 people. Had to sign up and wait for a table. But didnt take long.We each ordered a noodle with some apps to share. All the food was great. Super authentic northwestern food. Prices were standard bay area prices.Would recommend for a quick meal.”
“I’ve ordered 3 cakes from here in the span of a month. I was so impressed with the 6in mango cake I decided to get more for a coworker birthday and going away cake. The cakes are beautiful and delicious. They’re pretty standard cake prices ($30+) I call or email ahead of time to order. The fruit cake doesn’t seem to be available all the time, but it’s totally worth. I didn’t get a pic of the tiramisu :(I’ll be looking forward to getting more cakes in the future! The other pastries from here are good, too!”
“I brought my entire crew to have a Peruvian meals experience. Everyone agree about the great taste and flavor. The customer service was amazing. We tried “Lomo Saltado” and “cebiches.” Delicious. I highly recommend “La Ronda Restaurant.””
“This place has been around ever since I can remember. I'm in my 40's mind you. This is a San Mateo gem. Love their fresh food, lunch meats and service. It gets super busy for lunch, but it's worth the wait.”
“Stopped for lunch with a family full of picky eaters, and everyone got something they liked. Excellent customer service, clean establishment, decent ambiance (they don’t blare pop music like so many places this day and are).Vegetarian options: Plenty of protein options, primarily tofu or soy-based noodles.”
Drive-Thru Restaurants
“I recently visited this coffee spot and was immediately struck by its fantastic atmosphere. The place buzzes with a friendly vibe that makes you feel welcome right away. Although I didn't personally try any of the beverages, my companions seemed thoroughly impressed with their choices. The staff deserves a special mention for their warmth and professionalism. A must-visit for coffee enthusiasts and anyone looking for a cozy spot to relax or chat. Will be back to try their coffee myself!”
“Open late and fast service, as you would expect from a taco bell. They now have two auto service kiosks for ordering at that feel fairly removed and not welcoming, but that seems to be the standard of all fast food places now to have these. The food was not great, but as you would expect from a taco bell. Prices are very cheap for the area.”
“In short,It would have not been my first one to stop at asking El Camino (between milbrae & 92). But after this visit I will even recommend to others to stop by this one versus other ones on El Camino in that mentioned area.Things have changed, it's noticeably BETTER .”
“My first time at a Taco Bell. Menu features both Non-veg and veg option. Ordering is via touch screen kiosks only. It seems to be relatively easy to order. The orders get filled up typically within 10 minutes or so. Our party of 4 has no difficulty finding a table. The Nacho with toppings was good. As were the chalupas and soft tacos. I may come back for breakfast just to check out what they serve.”
“Panda Express FTW! Fast, convenient, relatively healthy, and tasty. I got the chicken breast, chicken string bean with a veggie base and cheese wontons. Oh, so good. PE has been a regular in my food cycle and I am thankful they are everywhere in the Bay.”
“For two meals to go, and it was actually made fresh and delicious. The fries were perfect and the cheeseburger and classic chicken sandwich were actually delicious made hot and fresh. Thank you for making our experience worth the $16.30.”
“Gabe was great! We had a wonderful time celebrating my husband's birthday. Thank you you for bringing him a bowl of ice cream & singing happy birthday to him, he really enjoyed it. Thanks Gabe!”
“DASH has been a favorite of ours since before they moved from behind the theater. The food is consistently good, the service is good, and while it's pricier than some of the lower end sushi places it's still a good deal for what you get. My wife picked DASH for my surprise 40th birthday party and they accommodated 8 of us easily.”
Cheap Eats
“A special homemade cakeThe outer crunchy honeycomb layer melts in your mouth and is very sweet, the creme and yellow cake is mildly sweet. My favorite part was the cremeEasy phone ordering and pick upThe 6" was plenty for six people, it would have been enough for eight”
“Best Blueberry Donut ever!My husband used to get excited about Dunkin’s blueberry donuts. Now he doesn’t even stop at Dunkin at a rare airport spotting because these Blueberry Donuts are so good; he can’t go back to the mediocre DD version.”
“A nice breakfast/brunch place! Went on a sunday and the waiters were kind and the food was good! I'm gluten free and they were knowledgeable about my allergy which was nice and offered me corn tortillas instead of bread with my breakfast. A solid, yummy experience overall!”
“Literally a HOLE in the wall spot lol. Service was quick and easy, wait times were reasonable and there is a lot of parking. Because they only do takeout, it's easy to pop in and out. The Beef Birria was so good; full of flavor and meaty. The taco was thick and cheesy. So glad we found this! I highly recommend this place!”
“My family has been going to Las Palomas for 35+ years and it never disappoints!! So great that their new location is bigger and more centrally located so new folks can find them and fall in love with them!”
“The pho is our favorite, rare beef (filet mignon). We have been going once a week lately. Everyone there are so friendly. I highly recommend you try this place.”
“The super quesadilla is the best one I have ever had. The fresh avocados are amazing. Don't stress about service or decor. The food is worth it. I love the carne asada, but the carnitas are my favorite I've had anywhere.”
“Food was great. Filled with fantastic flavors. The restaurant has a warm and welcoming atmosphere.Vegetarian options: Many great options to choose from. From a burrito, enchiladas, or the bowls.Kid-friendliness: Has many great food for kids. The quesadilla was great as well a the enchiladas.”
“Good Greek food and nice friendly help. This is one of those places where you go and order from the menu above the kitchen or do take out. It's not a destination restaurant for a special event but a solid choice for good quick foodKid-friendliness: Perfect place to take kids, especially young ones. Easy cleanup and I don't think many people would care if the kids are acting a little rowdy.”
“I recently visited the one in San Francisco and fell in love with the choices of deserts they had. When I finally tried the strawberry shortcake and wedding cookies they did not disappoint. They were so good I took the drive to their other location and they had so many more options. I am going to assume it's because I hit up do SF location before closing. Anyway, best cookies ever. They stayed fresh an entire week. The cake was one of the best cakes I have ever tried. Strawberries were fresh, it was so moist, and just enough sweetness. If you haven't tried them, it's a must!”
“Can't beat Kendo's karaoke list here on Wednesdays and when I say list well pretty much any song you can think of just put it in and mark my words he's got it. The crowd is great too. They had free popcorn last time I was there . The crowd again super great. They have an indoors and then an indoors that looks like your outdoor too. It's like this big patio area but you're kinda still inside. They have great parking too. I choose to park down the street but just saying they have a parking lot .”
“Good coffee and great service. Had their Mocha and caramel machhiato. Both were decent. They have a good variety of bakery items too. Cute street side coffee shop!”
“Absolutely loved the food. Wanted to have a snack but ended up having a full meal by repeatedly ordering tacos. Great veggie taco, haven’t had such a good taco anywhere else in California. The only thing I’m sad about is not being able to find this food truck last 2 3 times I’ve tried looking for it.Vegetarian options: The veggie taco is absolutely amazing.”
“When you see there is always a line of Mexican people waiting for food, you know you should check out the place. I usually get their lengua tacos, and I recently tried their California burrito, I really like the crunchy fries in it my only complaint was the portion of carne asada in it, a little stingy in my opinion. I think I will stick to their tacos in the future”
“Excellent tacos. Very fresh ingredients and very tasty. The service is good too and very friendly. (I have no connection to this place - I’m just very pleased to have eaten there.)”

“Sashimi is generally good quality here though I had a large bone left in my sashimi piece last time. Tempura is good ingredients with crispy coating but lacking a lot of lace. Dining room is very small with the tables very close together. Sometimes that’s fun, sometimes not. Menu specials are a good bet for fresh, unique dishes.”

Wakuriya
“The portions are small and the prices are high. Yet the tables are full and the wait list is long. Don't be fooled by Ping's unassuming presence, they have multiple locations including 2 in Fremont. I have been to all of them and they all slap. We usually order their Spicy Frog Legs, beef, boiled fish, fried chicken or pork belly dishes. Their Mapo Dofu makes me sweat bullets in the best of ways. I can't think of anything more satisfying on a cold rainy night. Intensely spicy with superior flavor. Truly the gold standard of Hunan cooking in the Bay Area. I give this place 5 stars because I make a 30 minute drive every week just to get to go from here.”

“There are a few small plates available from each of several Mediterranean cuisines. The overall collection is somewhat eclectic, but the quality was consistently very good and mixing the different styles worked. The wine list is also good and fairly representative of the different cuisines.”
“Smallish, popular Italian restaurant. Bruschetta is not to be missed. Spaghetti is tasty. Lasagna is great. This time I tried a steak - really. And it was really, really good.Parking can be sketchy. Stay is just so very helpful and caring. Highly recommended.”
“Good for happy hour, cozy and not crowded on a weekday for co-worker meetup. Menu isn't huge though, and salad wasn't very exciting, small, but my friends who got burgers and other less health-conscious items were happy. I appreciate the ease of parking, small shopping area right across from Safeway, and easy access off of the 92/280 junction. Good adult hangout, not for kids, dark inside.”

Seapot
“Honestly the best Seapot in the area and it's not even close. They actually give you dessert as part of the buffet unlike Daly City and Sunnyvale. Their servers actually asked if I wanted more paste for my hot pot, instead of just giving me water. They don't have the cucumber kimchi but their fruits are so much more fresh to make up for that. The calamari is great. Their KBBQ shrimp is peeled for ease of eating. Their regular hot pot shrimp is not. They have a wider variety of noodles here and they're much better than the ones I've had at the other ones.”

“really happy i took my mom out here, she’s a picky one and this was up to her standards. a lot of great Japanese dishes and fishes, hamachi kama (collar) was meaty and rich, and takoyaki wasn’t wet and soggy (iykyk). ended it with warabi mochi which is my absolute favorite!”

Noma Sushi
“Chirachi bowl: fish is fresh and tender, rice is just the right amount of sweetness for meTako: too chewy and lack of flavor for me, but kid likes itBeef udon: flavorful and huge ”
“We go here for Sushi. The fish tastes fresh and they have a good variety of classic rolls. Usually the staff are pretty attentive and orders arrive as expected.Parking: I usually park at the parking structure on 3rd and B street and walk over. S.Claremont St. Sometimes there is street parking depending on what time of day you go.”
“Oh man, this place is spicy!!! No joke. Delicious flavors though. Came over the weekend, husband got the most popular dish (spicy), I got some beef tendon noodle soup dish (not spicy, supposedly...). So thankful that the spicy meat comes separately so you can decide how much to put in your noodle soup. Husband put three spoonfuls and he was chugging water throughout his dinner Mine was surprisingly spicy, and I thought it was a non spicy option!! Even the noodle and broth by itself was spicy! Flavors were very good though. I also had to chug water throughout dinner Would like to come back, and maybe bring an extra side meal for my toddler since the non-spicy side dishes were a bit limited. Friendly service, clean restaurant. Surprisingly packed for a Sunday night! Excited to see new restaurants pop up on 25th :)”
“Wow!! Super delicious!! Went with a group of 6 friends and everyone loved the the food!! Lots of fantastic vegetarian options. I ordered the Mjadra and we shared the Fattoush salad, tabouleh, and pickles. My friends also got the veggie combo and falafel wrap.I had a different salad which came with my mjadra and both that salad and the Fattoush salad had crazy yummy dressing. I loved them so much I asked if they sold the dressing separately to go and she said they didn't but she gave me a generous portion of each to take home with me...no charge!!”
“I've been eating here for years. I moved away and was craving the tuna melt. It's one of my favorite sandwiches to order. I was happy to see that they were still busy and the food is still good. My husband had a cheeseburger, and that was delicious, too.Parking: They are located in a busy area and parking can be difficult, depending on when you visit. We went on a Saturday for lunch and parked a few blocks and walked.”
“Still one of the best most authentic Japanese Izakaya places in town. They use genuine binchotan charcoal to grill their skewers and the flavors pop better than other Izakayas. Also a lovely family owns this place”
“The atmosphere is like a nice coffee shop/cafe but the food quality is excellent! The cafe name and the atmosphere are very deceiving. The food brought back memories of our trip to Florence last year! Pasta is fresh, sauces are rich. Had the amatriciana with a unique pasta shape and my husband had the Bolognese. All so fresh and good. The mussels app - excellent! Fresh and the tomato based sauce they were cooked in absolutely required more bread to soak it all up. Prices were extremely reasonable, very limited wine list but don't let that stop you if you want really good, fresh, reasonably priced pasta. Can't wait to go back. They also sell pastas and sauces for you to make at home.”
“We’ve been buying from sibbys for years, they’ve got amazing quality cupcakes, and we’ve even cater with them before. They are cupcakes are moist and the frosting is great, I love the decorations. Just picking up your desserts. The atmosphere is great. It seems like all the workers are friends with each other and laughing just overall a great place to supportVegetarian options: I believe all of the cupcakes are vegetarian because there are no meats with in cupcakes and definitely a ton of gluten-free and vegan options, but definitely more vegetarian and vegan, because there are quite a bit of butter cream or milk -based toppingsDietary restrictions: Plenty of gluten-free options and perhaps you could ask if you had nut allergies among other things”
“Was there while they were hosting a wedding party. Somehow still have very great and attentive service. My GF is vegan, and the staff was helpful in making sure she had some options, ever adjusting the wagyu chowmain dish I ordered so that she could enjoy it (meat on the side).Veggies were amazing. Very different flavors. We had the string beans and the coli flower.Tea was great. The star or the night were their sipping sauces. They say they make them all in house. Cilantro sauce was the best, but they also have coconut + ginger, soy sauce, and of course chili oil.Dim sum was great as well.Ambiance was nice also.Vegetarian options: Lots of veggies clearly labeled vegetarian. I believe most of their vegetarian dishes are actually vegan as well. Great flavor. They also are willing to adjust dishes to fit dietary restrictions.”
“I have to write a review about this place as soon as I finish my dish. The food is sooooo gooood and the taste of every dishes that I ordered is exactly like in Vietnam. It makes my day because it has been long time since I can eat my favorite food that has the same Vietnamese taste. The staffs and service are great. The price is cheap with great portion. 11/10 ”
“Небольшой японский ресторан. Часто бываю тут после тренировки и заказываю обычно ланч с сашими. Свежая рыба и доброе обслуживаниеParking: Mall outdoor parking”

“4.5 stars, rounded up.Thumbs up:- Very tasty food- Hearty portions- Very affordable (for Bay Area) prices- Strong selection of food and drinks- Not a long wait, even on a Friday nightMeh:- Service wasn't the most attentive- Really really loud :(. Hard to have a conversation”
“Usually the taco deals on Doordash suck because of the low review taco spots . However , this was the only highly rated place that didn't concentrate on tacos like they others . This place does it legit . Every single ingredient had flavor in it. And it was the first time I had a manglonada.Don't know how they get mangos so sweet , but they have all the classic ingredients. You can tell from the neighborhood that it has to be legit . Latin population in the area would hate it if they were washed out places like the ones only serving calorie conscious crowds.Glad i was able to discover this shop. Super super recommended”
“At the beginning of the month, we celebrated a friend's b day here & it was an experience I will never forget. I love the casual upscale atmosphere with friendly staff & wonderful food. The polenta some creamy & some of the best I have ever had; this was an appetizer in the multicourse dinner. The frittata was wonderful with fresh vegetables & cheese. The ravioli was aldentae with a wonderful beef filling & zesty marinera sauce. The antipasti was wonderful with olives, salami, & a wonderful assortment of cheeses & bread. My prime rib was wonderful; a little dry, but tender for the most part with freshly sauted green beans. For dessert, our cake was wonderful. I rounded it off with a Peroni & some red wine. Everyone in our party loved everything. The Italian music in the background & piano polayer were both divine. We enjoyed some dancing to some popular songs. It was definitely a night I will never forget & will have to come in for lunch. Keep up the good work guys.”
“Cannot say enough great things about Tokie’s! We find ourselves coming here more and more. Everything here is just done right. It has the dining area with bar seating, frequently playing sports. But it’s sectioned off so it doesn’t impact the diners. Cocktails are great, the sake is great, the food is great, the prices are great, it’s all just great! Our service is always fantastic (Sho is the best) and you can tell the owner not only cares about his establishment, but also his community.”
“Vegetarian options: They had a Gluten Free option for my kid was a bit expensive about $24 with tip but was delicious nonetheless.Parking: Parking was difficult, was able to find parking in the garage however eventually. Was about a 2 min walk.”

Joy Sushi
“Off the main strip of downtown San Mateo, tho rivals the more popular stops there (ex: Sam's)House sake was delicious Speed of service was fastRolls are big, so take this into account when ordering. We did 3 rolls for 2 ppl and had leftovers, which is unusual for us. Interior is not the nicest / most aesthetic, so if you're in search of a cute date spot, would look elsewhere.”
“Great pizza, and the staff was very attentive, friendly and accommodatingDietary restrictions: Lactose intolerance, they were able to provide the salad dressing on the side”
“My fiancé surprised me with this for Valentine's day and I couldn't be happier! He ordered the omakase box & the tuna box and both were impeccable. The flavors were so unique, the fish was so fresh, and the presentation!! Literally gorgeous. Pick Up: They have pickup locations in San Francisco, San Mateo, and Hayward. The SF location is in the Sunset district! They were on time & super easy to find. Pickup was seamless :) Tuna Box: There were so many new flavor combinations in this box that I haven't tried before and that work so well. For example, truffle and parmesan on tuna!? Both parm & tuna have such strong flavors and I was worried it wouldn't mesh well together but it was so delicious. One of my favorite pieces! One of the pieces had this pate on it, it was perfectly salty and creamy. The otoro piece - SO BUTTERY. Literally tastes like the quality of tuna I had in Japan. Omakase Box: I loved the variety in this box!! It was my first time having raw mini octopus and it had the perfect chew to it. I loved the uni w/ ikura piece, the uni was so fresh and creamy and the ikura burst with flavor. Both boxes come with freshly grated wasabi and a cute soy sauce bottle. The pieces honestly didn't even need soy sauce because they had so much flavor. We'll definitely order from here again!”
“Following a real estate photo shoot, my daughter and I treated ourselves to a delightful brunch at Pacific Catch. As we observe no meat on a Friday for Lent, we were thrilled to discover a variety of fresh options that exceeded our expectations. The sushi bowl and the poke & ceviche trio were standout dishes, boasting exceptional freshness and quality that truly delighted our taste buds. It was a joy to savor every bite and appreciate the genuine flavors of each ingredient. We were equally impressed by the excellent service and efficiency of the staff. Despite the bustling atmosphere, our orders were promptly served, allowing us to relax and soak up the sunshine as we dined al fresco before the rain for the next days.Overall, our experience at Pacific Catch was nothing short of fantastic. From the delicious food to the warm hospitality, it was the perfect way to unwind after a busy morning. We look forward to returning for another culinary adventure soon”
“We had spicy tuna rice cake and both types of Ramen. Shoyu Ramen was better than Tonkotsu, though a bit more oily than we enjoy. Tonkotsu was very bland - it required more salt and spiciness. Crispy rice with Spicy Tuna was great. They do have 16% service charge.”
“At noon, I ordered a piece of boiled fish and stir-fried kidneys. Because I was in a hurry, I called my boss to help him fry it first. When we arrived, the dishes were all neatly placed on the table. Moreover, it tastes delicious and the beef is very tender! Good review!”

“Super authentic! Spicy just the way I like it. But you can also adjust the spiciness based on your tolerance. Good service, good food. Waiters are also really friendly!! They are known for 牛蛙 羊蝎子”
“Great service, and the skewers were great! We ordered a variety of skewers and most of them, though a little pricey, were very nice. We particularly enjoyed the Chicken Thigh with Green Onions, the Bacon Tomato which was bursting with flavour, and the Beef Tongue. We tried the Scallop with Uni skewer, but felt that the flavours didn't work too well with each other. The Curry Gyutan Over Rice dish that we got was a bit disappointing though, as the meat was not that high of quality, so would definitely recommend sticking with ordering just skewers. Great atmosphere and nice seating on both first and second floors. You could also smell the grills of the kitchen, which definitely helped make this feel like an authentic Japanese skewer place!”
“Food was great! Meat was very tasty. I would recommend doing the 2-person courses, a good way to try a lot of food. We got the first one since is it the same quantity as the more expensive meat-lovers, with some chicken variety.”
“Service was amazing. The woman who helped me was super sweet. A small but intimate place with amazing food. I was in San Mateo for the day for work and so glad I went here for my lunch! I got the bean and cheese pupusas :)”

“Boba had a good texture, though it could be chewier, and was barely sweet, which is my preference. You can get drinks without sugar and ice, and they don't give you less liquid. They have cold brew coffee and coffee milk teas.I was excited that they had drinkable mochi but it was way too sweet and a little grainy/gritty. Sadly I will have to go back to Ume for my drinkable mochi cravings.”
“Ordered a pizza with three side sauces and they weren't delivered. I called the store and they sent the driver back out with DOUBLE the sauces. Great customer service!”

Silver House
“Best chinese i ever had in the san mateo area. nothing compares to the taste and quality of the food. i have been to this location quite a few times over the years and it's always good. Large quantities as well. My favorite dishes include peking duck, salt and pepper fried oysters, shrimp fried rice, and honey walnut prawns amongst many others. the only thing i could say bad about this place is parking can be an issue. i always order ahead and arrive early to find proper parking to pickup.”

Furagu Sushi
“Awesome people with good quality food at a reasonable price. Alex and his family have been serving great food for years now and they haven't cut any corners even when produce were at a ridiculous 3x price hike. This establishment is a local favorite and they're worth every dollar.”
“Super cute little cafe! Has nice jazz music playing along with friendly staff! I had the half & half combo with the turkey Italiano sandwich & the broccoli cheddar soup & a bottle of water which came out to 16.55 total..Both very good and would reccomend! Has indoor and outdoor seating.”
73
Shugetsu
“The ramen at the Shugetsu was absolutely delicious! The broth was rich and flavorful, and the noodles had the perfect texture. They even have a corner to make their noodle in the house. I ordered the Shugetsu ramen and was delighted by the tender slices of charcoal-grilled pork and the soft-boiled egg. The pork is full of charcoal flavor and tender. Their fried chicken is also unique. It's very crispy outside and juicy inside. Recommended.”
“Great place to come after work to unwind. Happy hour is great and how can we resist the goat cheese and pepper jelly spread; it is addictive and we order it every time. They old fashioneds with or without the candied bacon are awesome. Our tea toddler friends seem to be satisfied with the mock tails and the ginger beer. Food wise, they have a quite a spread of offerings and when I'm in my vegetarian mode, I get the beet balls with spaghetti squash. The servings are big and can be split as they're good enough for two.”
“Great food in large portions for a reasonable price. Recommend 3+ people for optimal family style experience. Nice ambiance. Not quite what I'd call upscale- laminated menus, silverware wrapped in the napkin- but nicer ambiance and experience than something strictly casual. Our server was prompt, friendly, humored my friend's attempt to pronounce things correctly, and checked in enough.”

“My family and I came here on recommendation from another friend that loves Boba. Parking sucks! My family and I were driving in three separate cars, since we just came from dim sum in Millbrae, and trying to find a spot with all of us in the same area was ridiculous on a Sunday afternoon afternoon! Nevertheless, the GPS did not tell us that half of the street on "B St. was closed for the public to walk and kind of like the Covid times, where everything is set up for businesses to eat outdoors. I really like that idea of eating outdoors, but I wish the GPS had updated their system telling us there was no parking. Lol. Once inside the café, everything was so cute and organized. I really liked it! It was a long rectangular restaurant that went all the way back and they even had an upstairs area with a loft that overlooked the register area that we were sitting in below. Since we had a rather large party, we sat outside, and there were at least four tables with chairs all the way around for everybody to sit in. The restaurant next-door seems to be under a change of ownership, so my nephews were able to ply freeze dance in a designated area without bothering anybody. Lol the Boba itself tasted delicious. I got the T8-I think it was with passionfruit and Boba and it was delicious! I always do my Boba without sugar and light ice because I really want to taste the green tea and I figure Boba is already sweet anyways. There was a little bit of a lemon/lime citrus flavor in the Boba itself, which I also loved!! My boyfriend got an easy green tea with just Boba in it and it had this cool drink carrier with a dragon around the top! It was so pretty my nephews always wish they had one too! Lol as their orders came up, each one of them had a cool dragon drink carrier, and they were so proud of their Taiwanese, Chinese, Filipino heritage! I will definitely be back here again to try more of their drinks!! Hee”

“We ordered chicken biryani and steamed chicken momos. The momos looked like potstickers unlike the ones i see here with the reviews. This is the first time we're having it though so I'mnot sure.I really liked the chicken biryani. Itbwas spicy for me. If you can't tolerate spice, ask them if they can lower the heat. They did not skimp on the chicken. Portion sizes are on the smaller side though. One order is good for 2 people with normal appetite. If you have a huge appetite or hungry, an order is good for 1 person.Staff was very friendly. The place is small. Maybe just 6, max 8 tables inside. If you come on a weekday before dinner time, I think you will be ok. There is also outside seating so it is not a problem. I would go back to try other dishes besides the ones we ordered.”
“Fernando's is a great vibe. The food is delicious. I ordered the prawns ala diabla without mushrooms and onions because I read on the reviews that they put too much. It was great and not too spicy - but I loooove spicy food so maybe it just wasn't caliente enough for me. The ingredients are fresh and tasty. The portions are huge but I happened to finish all of mine I just kept eating it way past my full belly. It came with chicken tortilla soup too which was also great. The chips and salsa alone is sooo good. But I had to pace myself. The ambience is so authentic and also very clean. Love the decor. We came for a birthday celebration and their service was so attentive. This place is perfect for large get togethers or intimate dining. The bar area is separate with some tables so you can get a little bit of both if you don't want things too quiet. I've been recommending Fernando's to everyone I run into. Enjoy!”
“I came to the area for Tesla supercharge station . White waiting for the car get changed, walking around found this Korea food place. I had lunch here. Very impressed by the authentic Korean food and very good service. The small dishes are very good, the serving size is decent. I had spicy cold noodles, super good and satisfied, will try other dishes next time. Don’t miss this if you are in Foster City or nearby area. Highly recommended!”
“I've lived near downtown San Mateo for years, and this is my go-to Mediterranean/Greek place! They have spacious seating, are very clean, and have healthy options. My favorite dish is the Chipotle Hummus (appetizer). Every time I visit, I have to get it!Everything else they have is pretty standard, but solid food. I'm also a fan of the Lamb & Beef gyros plate. They give good sized portions with meat/falafels + salad + rice.”
“My visit to this sushi bar was a memorable one. The service was friendly and prompt, making me feel like a valued guest. The food was a revelation – the quality and presentation of the sushi were exceptional. The ambiance transported me to Japan, with its soothing music and minimalist design. It's the perfect place to unwind and savor some of the best sushi in town.”
“The best grilled chicken.. Delicious. If you want to feel like you're in Peru, come and try their chicken. Good thing! Their creams... delicious and very good service... ”
“Paola and Miguel have done an amazing job with the cake. The cake was so delicious and tasty our guests loved it. We ordered Neapolitan chocolate cake and it turned out to be the highlight of the party. Thank you cake shop for making our child's day special. I would highly recommend this place.”

Mr. Taco Man
“A delightful dining experience! The New Mexico Cuisine at Mr. Taco Man is a revelation. The green chile pepper in their dishes adds a unique zest that's hard to find elsewhere in San Mateo. Must-try for anyone who loves a good burrito with a twist!”
“It's a very nice restaurant. The salads are delicious and fresh as they get. The dressing are amazing. Next, visit the pizza we will try. Great menu and the people super nice and accommodating.”
“Highly recommended Japanese restaurant with an assortment of curries, appetizers, and main dishes. Located right at the entrance of the Hillsdale Mall with lots of parking within walking distance of the restaurant. The food here is definitely worth a trip to the mall. The food here is excellent. The chicken katsu curry was amazing and they have several dishes focused around Waygu beef which were also amazing. The serve alcohol here too. They offer several types of sake. They also offer beer being Sapporo Light in a bottle or Sapporo regular on draft. The food was amazing. They also have an automated service model with robots serving the table. It’s definitely a cool thing to see at first, but you start to miss the personalized feel of a human server. Also, they ask for tips after you eat - but are you tipping the robot?Otherwise, great food and we were in and out very quickly. If you love Japanese food - definitely come through and try it out! Also check out the cool robots ?”
“The food and service here were INCREDIBLE! This modern Chinese themed restaurant combines fresh, tasty food with high-class service. I highly recommend the pork soup dumplings and the Dan Dan noodles. The wait for a group of 4 is about 20 minutes but is definitely worth it. If you're looking for a place to grab some delicious Chinese food at a reasonable price, this is definitely the spot.”
“Saw people bringing up Kazunori but can you really compare the two? Kazunori lacked the specialty sets that Taki Nori offers. We both ordered their premium set, which included Japanese scallops, lobster, wagyu, and uni & toro hand rolls. We also tried a few of their other hand rolls a la carte style. The uni handroll was easily our favorite (Japanese uni btw!).Handroll Project is still the better value, but this is a nice addition to Bay Area. Service was also good - the server we had was very attentive and prompt. We did have a small issue with snow crab running out, but the server resolved it for us. Overall a good experience here for us.”
“Waited about 20 minutes for the food. Very nice server though. Got the beef negi maki with shumai and tempura combo, tasted good but more like Chinese-Japanese fusion than Chinese. Friend got ahort ribs, and it tasted a bit pre-prepared though the flavor was good. Very pretty amd clean place, clean bathrooms too. Though, don't make special requests, especially on sashimi, or you might find an extra $3 charge on your bill.Wheelchair accessibility: Accedible bathrooms and tables but no parking for wheelchairs”

“Spacious and cozy restaurant that is perfect for large groups and dining with kiddos. It wasn't too crowded during lunch on Saturday, so the ambiance wasn't hectic and we got food fairly quickly. Large portions, service is great and kids get some crayons to draw with too! The food feels catered to an American palate, but is definitely a step above a walk-up counter restaurant. Example: seafood salad had HUGE chunks of real crab. My only wish is that they'd put some veggies on the plates for some freshness. You only get the entree, rice, and beans.”
“I've been to the one in the city and figured I'd give this place a try and have a nice quiet lunch to myself.Upon entering, it said, "Please wait to be seated." A few minutes passed by, and I saw employees walking around but wasn't acknowledged. I noticed the cashiers to my left and walked up. The lady was nice and took my order and told me to have a seat anywhere and that someone would be bringing me my drink. I was low-key annoyed. Why can't they make a sign that says place order with cashier?I looked around for a place to sit. The vibe seemed pretty chill. Decor was simple neutral colors. I took a seat, and a waitress grabbed my ticket. She was super nice and attentive. She was constantly refilling my Arnold Palmer, which was a huge plus.I ordered:1. Clam chowder - I'm not a huge soup fan, but this was surprisingly tasty and paired well with the cheese toast they provided.2. Chef's featured steak - This dish came with potatoes and spinach, I believe. I kind of wished it came with a roll. This was delicious, it definitely satisfied my craving.3. Crème Brûlée - I didn't think I had room for dessert but this was Aaaammmaaazzzing. To be honest, I was surprised for once I finished all my food all by myself. This is rare lol but speaks volumes to how good the food and service was. I'll definitely be back.”
“North Beach Pizza in San Mateo is a diamond among pizza places near me. The inviting air and different menu set up for a brilliant eating experience. Whether it's an exemplary number one or a specialty pizza, the quality and taste are reliably outstanding, making it a nearby for pizza lovers.”
“This place is a find. Very old building, maybe former burger joint, very warm atmosphere. Rolls and sushi are excellent, well priced, and portions are BIG. Friendly staff, fast service. I love this place.”
“Very yummy.have a lot the packing.the service very good.the woman there very nice for take care the costumer but I forgot her name.all them good.I will be back there.and shop is clean. Thank you for good lunch”
“Food was very classic Mexican comfort, and it was filling for good dinner. We came with a reservation so it was faster. If you like yummy margaritas and a lively ambience, Flores is for you. The service was very good, except my tacos took some time.”
“This place looks very modest both outside and inside but wow does the food quality deliver. A Salvadorian friend of mine told me about this place. The Sopa de Pata had an amazing amount of flavor. It could definitely win an Umami award. The Pork Bean and Cheese Pupusa was my favorite. The Pupusas were some of the softest and best I've had. Easy parking in the shopping center parking lot. I will definitely come back here again.”

“The Great Breakfast is literally the best smoothie I've ever tasted in my life. Maybe it's because I had a migraine and couldn't eat anything, but damn that smoothie did the trick! “Marisa is so nice and great customer service. Best Jamba location in the Bay Area! I live closer to several other locations, but drive an extra few miles for nicer people and service. Pumpkin Smash ?? is also in season now to get you in the fall mood! “The best pastries in the bay area. I can't believe I never knew about this place. I will definitely be back. it is inside the mall but it looked like we it had it outdoor tables. However, it was raining on the day we were there so we did not eat there but brought our food home. it was the best!!!”
“Ordered a super burrito with no beans, received a regular by mistake on a take out order. Chips and salsa included, which were great, green salsa especially. Burrito was large size, but with only meat and rice inside did not satisfy. They do not offer a breakfast burrito anymore and said they were out of eggs. I would give them another chance but would eat there to ensure my order was right, and get more chips and salsa!”
“I haven't been here in a while & came back because I was in the neighborhood. The diner has been remodeled & refreshed, with updated menus, and still low priced. Had excellent table service for breakfast & excellent food. Little things like gourmet coffee & fluffy eggs make a difference... Will be back soon!”
“We provided BentoSprout bentos for our guests at our wedding in Mill Valley and our families and friends LOVED their bentos (of course we did too bc we chose it duh lol)!!! TLDR: if you’re looking for delicious, balanced, beautiful, healthy, authentic bento boxes for your event (wedding, birthday, other celebration, office gathering, etc) AND want to support business that is Japanese-woman owned, we highly recommend BentoSprout! If you want to make the bento boxes fit a more formal setting, you can have it in wooden boxes that are compostable and also add a furoshiki cloth (locally and support an AAPI-owned business if you can) for a very reasonable additional cost. They look so nice while being minimalist. It was the perfect amount of food for a wedding for everyone and for those with a bigger appetite, it would be totally more than enough with a few appetizers. My husband is Japanese and it was so important for us to reflect his culture in the food we offered at our wedding and it needed to be delicious and perfect, which Mireille’s bentos were. His family have very high standards for food and they enjoyed their bentos wholeheartedly and were emphatic about how skillful she must be for the dishes in the bentos to have come out as perfectly as they did. Her bentos are beautiful and so thoughtful, as well as balanced, and above all so incredibly tasty. We had a tasting for her bentos and we were so impressed then, and hard to believe but it was even better on the day of our wedding!Mireille is so easy to work with and extremely communicative and accommodating. We had a number of guests with dietary restrictions and preferences and she was so careful and meticulous in ensuring that she understood them perfectly and then prepared them without issue and our guests really enjoyed their meals.Mireille, thank you so much for making our day extra special with the love and care you put into your bentos and food. Thank you for all the emails you exchanged with us and double checking, as well as the thoughtful and generous touch you did for our bentos given our budget. It made us so happy to see how much our families and friends enjoyed our food, and we of course loved our own meals that day thoroughly!Photo credit: Photography by Vee”
“Came here for a late weekday lunch, and the food was delicious! We got the Chile relleno, short rib tamal, chicken enchiladas, and corn dip. The tortillas seem to be made in house and are quality.”
“Excellent tacos. Very fresh ingredients and very tasty. The service is good too and very friendly. (I have no connection to this place - I’m just very pleased to have eaten there.)”
“A nice breakfast/brunch place! Went on a sunday and the waiters were kind and the food was good! I'm gluten free and they were knowledgeable about my allergy which was nice and offered me corn tortillas instead of bread with my breakfast. A solid, yummy experience overall!”

“Came for a team event with 6 people. Had to sign up and wait for a table. But didnt take long.We each ordered a noodle with some apps to share. All the food was great. Super authentic northwestern food. Prices were standard bay area prices.Would recommend for a quick meal.”
“I originally made a reservation for my older gifriends, and myself, and one of my kids 30 mins prior to when we needed. They were kind enough, (thank you Miko), to make sure everyone was taken care of, in our entirely diverse party, and accomodate amazingly (for our normal outing of a Friday lunch group).Normally my friends would tell me to go to____(name withheld)___, or ________, but I fought for the cheesecake factory because the service of the specific location and quality of their food is absolutely the best. The service by VENNI --- thank you! Thank you MIKO for making our reservation so seemless even after I had to change it for all of our friends!THIS IS THE Cheesecake Factory that will specifically deal with every single dietary or menu request, and, do it better than any other restaurant in this area! ...Reservations, bread, no salt,--- every part about their service is great! (And now I have my friends to finally agree, who are 30 years older than me I think they know everything but now I know something, so thank you cheesecake factory for being there for us!)Restrooms are always clean and you'll probably try to sing along in the bathroom with all the cool music, too!Thank you again!Vegetarian options: Because they are so good at service and whoever that chef is awesome, their dietary restrictions despite any ridiculous requests have been met by far every single time I've been here.Dietary restrictions: Every one of us that are five person table had a certain specific request, every single request was met with higher expectations than we ever imagined. (Not normal for when we normally go out to eat kind of thing right? I.e. can I substitute this for this?, can I not have salt but can I have this in place of this ingredient? )Parking: This is the parking lot generally for the mall, free, and plenty of accessible locations free and safe to walk with your friends directly to the front door and almost see your car from the restaurant.Kid-friendliness: I think my picture says everything about kid friendliness! Very kid friendly. I'm not talking crazy kids running around, I'm talking they know how to cater to your child as well as any other guest you may have with you.Wheelchair accessibility: There is wheelchair accessibility and very close proximity to the front door from accessible parking.”
“I will definitely be back. It's a cozy cafe with soft chairs inside. I got the Iraqi Tea and it was delicious!! Plus it's served on this gorgeous tea set My only note was that the bread I ordered was cold and hard. It would have been much nicer warmed up. But t everything else was lovely.”
“Came back from ❄️⛷️ Heavenly & found out Tahoe Joe’s is permanently closed so Googled and found Paul Martin’s. Chic American Grill with great modern decor and attractive bar seating. We sat at the bar and ordered the Classic Burger, paired with a juicy Malbec. Delicious burger ? thick tender beef patty with blue cheese: tasty! Would visit again. Great stop if you like gourmet burgers (instead of In Out Burgers) and grilled steaks. Next time will try the filet or rib eye. Great service, highly recommended. “McKkenna is the BEST waitress I have had in I don't know how long. She is very personable, friendly, funny, and a joy to talk to. Very attentive to all of her tables and customer requests. The food was fantastic, cooked perfectly and very tasty.”
“Was looking for a new place to try with a friend today and stumbled upon Prime BBQ. Really nice joint in a quiet part of San Mateo, with some surprisingly tasty skewers at fair prices! Design of the restaurant is nice, and presentation of the food was great. My friend really liked the Chicken skewers, but I personally loved the lamb and beef skewers!! They also have proper bar inside for those who drink :) Would recommend checking out and having a fun night out”
“I’ve ordered 3 cakes from here in the span of a month.
“We went to this place on Friday evening and there were a few people. The service was quick. We ordered Vanilla Custard and Blackberry Guava Swirl..The blackberry guava soft serve was very good. Guava flavour was subtle and refreshing. The vanilla Custard had kinda slimy texture but was not disappointing. We will surely go back to taste some of their other flavors. The soft serves are kinda pricey and portion size are huge..I wish they also had options for a smaller size soft serve.”

“I got dessert here. I got the strawberry cheese drink. It had a long line but it went by pretty quick. I didn't wait for my drink too long and the staff were friendly. It was pretty good, can't wait to try other drinks.”
“Cash only. Good cheap home-cooked Guatemalan food. Literally. The truck operates right outside the owners home where food is also cooked.Ordered the milanesa de pollo (breaded chicken cutlet). Good amount of food for $10. Came with beans, rice, cheese, and handmade tortillas.Lady taking my order was nice and only spoke Spanish but it wasn’t hard to order. The truck is pretty busy and lively at night with many people from the community having dinner together. Little spots like these really highlight San Mateo’s vibrant Hispanic community that surrounds MLK Park”
