Even if you aren't a mutant like me and can eat gluten, the food here is delicious despite being gluten free. It's not just "oh that's good for being gluten free", it's just good. Period. On top of all that they have the friendliest staff in the city. 5/5 experience. Don't miss this place.”
“What a lovely dining experience! The food was fresh, and so generously portioned! Delicious flavors. We enjoyed our kabobs and the saffron rice; one of our party got the chicken sandwich wrap which was out-of-this-world delicious! The lentil tomato soup was also lovely— warm flavors and a big bowl to enjoy. The bread and the dipping sauce (cucumber??) before the meal was also wonderful— we devoured every last bit. Yum!!! My favorite personally was the baklava, which was delicate, flaky, packed with filling and perfectly balanced. No gooey, syrupy baklava here— just perfection. I cant wait to order a chicken sandwich and piece of baklava again soon! (Ooh, and we had PLENTY to take home— bring your appetite). Gorgeous atmosphere and a really kind, hospitable staff — from the owner to our server, everyone made us feel right at home. It was most enjoyable and a great evening out!Vegetarian options: The salads (Shirazi Salad!!!) are great!”

“As a Bangladeshi here in Grand Rapids, I am always on the lookout for South Asian restaurants in town! Madras is a new Indian spot that my parents (the ultimate South Asian food critics) have been raving about since they opened - so I finally had the chance to try it out myself! I was so satisfied by this meal. I thought everything we got was full of flavor, and you can tell that the food is being freshly made. We started out with the Masala Dosa, Gobi Manchurian, and the Chicken Pakoda. Soo good! The dosa had the perfect crispiness, my mouth is watering as I write about it And the spice level was also perfect! For entrees we got paratha with the butter chicken and kadai chicken. Altogether, this was more than enough food for the four of us. The chai and the carrot halwa were also the perfect combination to end the meal. The restaurant is clean and the service was extremely attentive and efficient. I look forward to coming back and trying more from the menu!”

“I've been coming here off and on for the last couple of years and every single time I have been greeted with open arms and the best hospitality. Nice relaxing atmosphere and fun vibes. Always strike great conversation with whomever is working or visiting. The Kombucha is top notch and the "Sound Experience" on certain Thursday's are phenomenal. Check it out!”

“The calamari was perfect, the mussels were average, the crab cakes were good but all finely shredded no lump crab, some what disappointed with that. Salmon was perfect, tartar sauce just ok,( we like a more tart sauce with fresh dill, capers, and pickles) as was the green beans and rice. Great Caesar salad and dinner rolls. Samantha our waitress was spectacular. We would definitely go back again.”

“Casual, chatty vibes with good music playing. Service was good (nothing exceptional). It gets busy during brunch time (but if there is a wait, you can comfortably be indoors while you do). The kitchen line is visible from dining area and you will smell like it if you sit near it.Overall the food was enjoyable. Party tried the empanadas, traditional breakfast, and an omelette with chicken sausage. The breakfast potatoes were old (they must cook in batches and not refresh before serving) but everything else was tasty. The homemade jam is really yummy. They have a lot of options for coffee, mimosas, and Bloody Marys. (They do charge a 3% “fee” added to every bill.) There is a parking lot behind the restaurant but it can fill up quick.”

I really miss that short little girl Danica I would come in every single day with my dog and she didn’t hold up the line by any means Danica was one of the best most efficient back through Drive person I’ve ever seen I know Danica climb to be in a manager at one time and then she I guess something happened I’m not sure she took sick or something I really miss seeing that girls face I hope she’s doing good! Every time I come to the drive-through I always pray it’s Danica There! “Our first time trying Greco's. The Pizza and Breadsticks were delicious. My only complaint is I ordered two extra sauces and I ensured she heard me. She even repeated it back to me as well. My husband picked up the order and they told him the extra sauces were in the boxes (also on the reciept). He didn't check and trusted them and they were not. Disappointed as we ran out of sauce for our breadsticks. We will still order again most likely.”

“My family and I visited Grand Rapids for a weekend. I saw this restaurant recommended on Tiktok so thought we'd give it a try. On Friday, we got there around 8:20pm. On Google it says her restaurant closes at 10. We walked in and waited a few minutes before a young man was sent to tell us that she (the owner) was not taking anymore orders and would he closing at 8:30. Okay, maybe the time was wrong on Google. No biggie, we decided to go again the next day. We got there around 3:30pm. Upon walking in, I smiled at the owner and said hello. She looked at me with a rude face and did not greet us. A few minutes later she asked across the restaurant if we had reservations. I answered no. Did not see anything about reservations being required when looking online. She continued working and we continued to wait by the door. After a few minutes, she came to us and said if you want to eat here, it will be slow service, is that okay? And we told her we're okay and left. Now I understand she was busy, but both days we were not treated with warmth or felt like we were welcomed in the restaurant. The other customers she interacted with were treated kindly from what we saw. I personally feel like she does not care for black Americans, which sucks because we were trying to support her black business.”

For a "Chipotle'esk" type of BBQ restaurant, it checks ALL of your Smokehouse cravings, even down to the Sauces. The atmosphere and the huge emphasis and appreciation for our armed forces is what starts to set this place apart from any of its peers. Humbled in hospitality and taking care of its patrons of all creeds and backgrounds is where this place shines. Brennan (I believe was his name), the floor waiter, was one of those gentleman that you wish you could just duplicate and fill your staff with. That's not saying the rest of the staff don't rank up there, because they do, but let's just say this... our youngest (5yr) felt so special in this place she wanted to go back to the counter and thank all the staff/cooks who prepared her food. So in closing, to the owners/staff of Mission BBQ, keep doing what your doing...there no "rough" anymore, just a Diamond! Stay blessed!”

To compare it to Tea Time, I'd say Mix is a bit cheaper, but better in quality of drinks and what food it does have.The service is overall good, no complaints or anything.The atmosphere is generally good, and has improved over time. “Who doesn't love Crumbl??? The weekly menu is so fun! I'm always excited to see what will be on it. The classic sugar cookie is a must for me every time, SO good! My sister had the mini cookies at her wedding and it was a big hit. Don't walk, RUN to Crumbl if you've never had it.”

The breakfast potatoes were old (they must cook in batches and not refresh before serving) but everything else was tasty. The homemade jam is really yummy. They have a lot of options for coffee, mimosas, and Bloody Marys. (They do charge a 3% “fee” added to every bill.) There is a parking lot behind the restaurant but it can fill up quick.”

I instantly fell in love with the chard - it was delicious. The glass price was very reasonable and I was even more excited to see they sold it by the bottle and the bottle was super cheap - so i grabbed 3 to bring home. Second round of cocktails was the same chardonnay and a mule. She enjoyed both cocktails. We had the bruschetta - servers recommendation - it was BOMB! Each crostini was loaded with bruschetta! Lots of delish flavors - garlic and the balsamic were so good. Cajun crab dip was good, not as many chunks of crab as we had hoped, but still very creamy and flavorful. Our server even offered more toast for the dip, so we happily took that home to enjoy later.All in all, great experience with great service. We ordered the boneless wings, hot crab dip and oysters on the half shell for myself. Everything arrived perfectly plated and was delicious. The oysters were amazing and one of my favorite things to eat. The bartender recommended the Son of the Sea cocktail and it was perfectly balanced and I don’t drink often but would definitely order this again. My girls loved the Mocktails as well. When it was time to order the meals it was so hard for me to choose which dish to eat. I settled on the Brown Butter Perch and my wife had the Steak au Pouivre. This place is going through a renovation but it's not disruptive at all. Some theaters here have the nice reclining seats with warmers. We love it. Decided to eat in the hotel restaurant (something I don't normally do because they are often overpriced for not much reward) and was exceptionally impressed. My wife had the whitefish and I had the roasted chicken, both fantastic. We had the flatbread as an appetizer along with ceasar salads and after trying both we already knew we were getting more than our money's worth. Our waitress knew it was our honeymoon and took care of our deserts, and the mint in the chocolate was incredibly strong (a good thing!).Definitely would eat here again if we are in town, especially for another show (Les Mis was also fantastic, it was a great honeymoon!)”

“Maru is my favorite spot to get sushi here in GR! It is always a treat to dine in or order out. If I'm really hungry I normally order 2 rolls (it's never an issue to have some leftovers for myself..). On a regular day with friends some starters and 1 roll will usually suffice for me! My favorite starters are the fire cracker shrimp and the spicy fried tofu. Also they have great deals throughout the week that I need to capitalize on more often - such as the "Tiger Tuesdays" with $12 Crouching Tiger rolls!!”

I was in the middle of eating and she hands me my bill and wants me to pay. then she will give herself a tip with your card and still ask for a tip when she brings the bill.”

“I went there last night with my daughter. The cashier Linda was very rude. This was my very first time in this restaurant. I ordered my daughter the Box3 I was never told that a drink came with the order. When we came in she started saying what was broken and after my daughter food was done she hands her the hot box I asked for a bag Linda makes a joke that will cost $20 or you can go wash dishes. She put my daughter food in a bag. But overall the food was delicious thanks to the two cooks.”

We wanted a booth but they said none were available even though we could see several empty booths.When I pointed out the booths, we were told they would have to ask the waitstaff. We did get a booth.There was no "adult" manager visible during the entire time we were in the restaurant.”

Service was pretty fast, but we were there with a larger group on a Sunday at lunch time, so I'm not sure how that is when they are busier. “Went for our anniversary last weekend. We didn't feel like dealing with the hustle and bustle of a Saturday night, so we booked for Sunday at 5pm. We absolutely did not need a reservation but it was really nice that we did because they were very ready for us. They had a lovely large booth set for us, including a personalized note congratulating us on our anniversary. I will start this by saying the server's name is escaping me, but he doubled as the bartender that evening. I want to say it was Jake? Either way, he was great! We got cocktails to start, whiskey julep and paper plane. My boyfriend didn't love the julep, he went out on a limb trying something new to him, but I really enjoyed the paper plane. Second, we ordered the bison meatballs and medjool dates as appetizers. The dates were fabulous, they reminded me of a super elevated PB&J. The meatballs weren't my favorite, as I found them a little dry, but my boyfriend loved them. I did notice that a TON of things on this menu feature nuts as garnish or contain a nut butter? This place would be pretty tough for someone with a peanut/tree nut allergy. Third, we actually both order the Delmonico steak - him the ribeye (medium) and myself the filet (med rare). Their special that night was Hamburger Helper and I was very, very close to getting it but the steak was calling me. All of our food came out very quickly - to be fair, I am almost positive that we were the only patrons at the time but that worked great for us! The steaks were both perfectly cooked to temperature. I had the Chalk Hill Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast, CA) per the recommendation of our server, it paired super well! The delmonico potatoes were something I had to ask our server about because I had never heard of them. They were basically a block of cheesy potatoes and they were delicious! I couldn't finish my meal and our server boxed mine up for me... which I promptly forgot at the table as we left (sad). No dessert for us this time as we were stuffed but the Baked Alaska sounded awesome. We will be back!”

“The calamari was perfect, the mussels were average, the crab cakes were good but all finely shredded no lump crab, some what disappointed with that. Salmon was perfect, tartar sauce just ok,( we like a more tart sauce with fresh dill, capers, and pickles) as was the green beans and rice. Great Caesar salad and dinner rolls. Samantha our waitress was spectacular. We would definitely go back again.”
