“Went to Barbacoa, 5500 Troost, for brunch Sunday morning, what a delightful experience. I ordered Monie’s plate. It was mouthwatering. The serving was so generous, that I took half of it home. The corn tortillas were soft and warm enough to make a taco, the beans were flavorful and not spicy, the carnitas were fall apart tender and very tasty, perfectly fried potatoes, and fluffy scrambled eggs. The salsa was very tasty and not overly spicy. The coffee was even tasty (Costco Kirkland medium roast). Unlike some breakfast restaurants, the background music was so low and mellow (helps with digestion), I could hear my friends talk. We have to go back during the week for dinner. UPDATE - I forgot one very important thing, the service was excellent. Our group was one of two in the restaurant, but shortly afterwards other start to arrive. There was only one friendly waitress, who, despite the growing crowd, was able to get back to us about more coffee and to check on us”

A real treat for the taste buds. We went on a Tuesday night which was Taco Tuesday. They had $3 tacos (you can pick from four options) and discounts in drinks. I tried the Al Pastor, Cheeseburger Taco, Buffalo Cauliflower, and Chicken Tinga. All four were very good.”

(Figured out later that it was because they put a hold my last deposit - even though it was drawn on their bank - AND - there was a big funds freeze from a recent small gasoline purchase.) I was surprised and embarrassed and apologized. I was about to pull away when the young man looked at me and said: "Don't sweat it. I got you." Pulled out his wallet and swiped his card for my meal. People are good. I'm going to do something to make that young man glad for his act of kindness soon if I can. If you happen upon him (his mask was a modified neck gator (had ear straps, but also covered the back of his neck) with a sort of blue tribal print on a black background and came to a point on his chest, somewhat like a bandanna would - tell him thanks for me.”

“A friend lives here, he recommended this place to me. Being from Texas, and reading reviews of this restaurant, I had to try it for myself and see how it compares back home. Rodrigo served us and was super sweet.

So far, the homemade sweet tea reminds me of Texas, so we're off to a great start!

Our appetizer came by, which we ordered the jumbo mushrooms with horseradish sauce. Very presentable with micro greens on the top, crispy and flavorful. Even the horseradish sauce added an extra layer of kick and flavor, and not too overpowering.

I ordered the Kansas City Combo with Beef Brisket, Smoked Sausage, fries and potato salad. My friend ordered the BlackBerry Salmon with fries.

The salmon was very flavorful, had a nice char on the bottom, and the sauce was smokey. The Kansas City Combo looked very presentable, slices of sausage and brisket arrayed like a charcuterie board. The sausage was smokey and had a lot of different flavors going on, however the brisket is a different story. The BBQ sauce adds flavor to the brisket, but without it, it can be tough to chew. This is my first time having sausage sliced this way, whereas I'm used to sausage LINKS. The potato salad was very good, along with the fries. Had a lot of flavor and didn't need ketchup

Overall, this was a very good experience, and if it ever in the area again, and am missing my hometown, I will come back.”

A real treat for the taste buds. We went on a Tuesday night which was Taco Tuesday. They had $3 tacos (you can pick from four options) and discounts in drinks. I tried the Al Pastor, Cheeseburger Taco, Buffalo Cauliflower, and Chicken Tinga. All four were very good.”

“My husband and I drive from Omaha at least twice a year for date weekend and we always dine at Stock Hill. We love love love the ambience, service, food, all of it. It hits the mark for that dreamy, darkish, amber glow ambience, especially in the later months. This past weekend we went to KC on a whim and knew they were booked and decided we would be fine with a seat at the bar. When we inquired about a table for 2, the hostess explained that they were booked and could sit at the bar. We were totally great with that! But the “head honcho” came out of nowhere and told us he actually had a table for 2. The cherry on top? He proceeded to seat us at the table we first sat at when we went there for date weekend years ago. Thank you! 🥰”
